So cute! I had to carry a plush goose at this medieval fest last weekend, carry it in a procession and make the head move by means of this hidden that ran up the neck...and GROWN MEN AND WOMEN came up to me and asked whether it was real. I worry about the future of humankind.

Also, for the rest of the day I overheard people referring to me as "the goosegirl". Brush up on fairy tales, pls!

Considering that in my stupid costume I look about 16? Possibly.

Laurel (Laurel), Thursday, 14 September 2006 16:06 (nineteen years ago)

Reading about the Assiniboine tribe of Native Americans always makes me think of:

xxpost Yeah, let's talk about that. Daley: right, wrong, or just jockeying for political position?

always crashing in other people's cars (kenan), Thursday, 14 September 2006 16:08 (nineteen years ago)

One of the best decisions I've made in the last few weeks: Stealing several cinnamon buns and some fruit from the wedding reception I went to that was held at Ann Sather's. Good for breakfast the next morning.

xp - Laurel, your costume is v.v. cute. "Stupid" is hardly the word I would use. I would love to have the occasion to wear a costume at all, but to wear one that is so cute would bring me unparalleled joy. !!

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 14 September 2006 16:12 (nineteen years ago)

Laurel, your costume is v.v. cute.

Pic plz?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 14 September 2006 16:13 (nineteen years ago)

I have to say, "Assiniboine" always makes me think of other sound-alike phrases, although I've usually seen it in "Assiniboia".

Casuistry (Chris P), Thursday, 14 September 2006 16:14 (nineteen years ago)

Uh oh, Daley and perving killed thread. Or maybe lunch did it.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 14 September 2006 16:22 (nineteen years ago)

If drooling over cinnamon buns makes me a perv, then so be it.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 14 September 2006 16:24 (nineteen years ago)

Dayyyymn! I'd like to frost *that* bun, if you know what I'm sayin'.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Thursday, 14 September 2006 16:54 (nineteen years ago)

Oh, I've seen a photo in Laurel in the get-up. For some reason I thought there was a new photo that Amanda was referring to.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 14 September 2006 16:57 (nineteen years ago)

goddamnit, the sky outside this window is turning grey again. some of these clouds look like they could be rain-bearing. i guess 2 1/2 hours of blue sky after 7 days of rain is all i get.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Thursday, 14 September 2006 16:58 (nineteen years ago)

Those are highland calves, Otto. All the better for jumping with.

John, I don't think there are any pictures of me online, but of someone else in a different outfit...?

* Isn't the Summer Lovin' song melody a direct ripoff of Shai's "If I ever Fall in Love Again," just not as good?

I'm not sure, because I haven't gotten to the last three songs yet. I pretty much start the cd over after the Black Eyed Peas tune.

* Does he really have a crack smoking problem?

No, Bob does.

* Is it any coincidence that TIMBERLAKE is working with TIMBERLAND?

No. It's Timbaland btw, and I thought that JT should change it to Justin Timbalake for this record.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 14 September 2006 17:06 (nineteen years ago)

I went home for lunch, made a veggie burger, and while it was cooking I ONCE AGAIN gorged on straight cheese. Seriously, I can't be trusted alone with a block and a slicer.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 14 September 2006 17:08 (nineteen years ago)

did i ever tell you about the time about 2 months ago when all i had to eat in my apartment was cheese? i ate nothing but cheese for a weekend, i felt like i was pregnant. with a cheese baby.

Yeah, this basically happens to me any time I make a sandwich. I made a veggie burger the other night, and I had just a little hunk of provolone left after topping the burger, and I was like, fuck it, I'm making nachos.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 14 September 2006 17:11 (nineteen years ago)

A student just complained about the smell of cheese in my office. SORRY I ENJOY THE LASAGNA.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 14 September 2006 17:20 (nineteen years ago)

Bob is Justin Timbalake's crackhead persona. He works at a job.

Jordan (Jordan), Thursday, 14 September 2006 17:24 (nineteen years ago)

Huh?

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 14 September 2006 17:25 (nineteen years ago)

Hi my name is Bob and I work at my job
I make forty-some dollars a day
I used to be the man in my hometown
'til I started to lose my way
It all goes back to when I dropped out at school
Having fun, I was living the life
But now I got a problem with that little white rock
See I can't put down the pipe

And...

And it's breaking me down
Watching the world spin round
While my dreams fall down
Is anybody out there?

It is breaking me down
No more friend around...
And my dreams fall down...
Is anybody out there?

Can anybody out there hear me?
'Cause I can't seem to hear myself
Can anybody out there see me?
'Cause I can't seem to see myself...
There's gotta be a heaven somewhere
Can you save me from this hell?
Can anybody out there feel me?
'Cause I can't seem to feel myself

Losing my way
Keep losing my way...
Keep losing my way...
Can you help me find my way?
Losing my way
Keep losing my way
Keep losing my way...
Can you help me find my way?

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 14 September 2006 17:27 (nineteen years ago)

Is that his "The River" or what?

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 14 September 2006 17:28 (nineteen years ago)

Except there was no white rock in "The River", just workin' and disappointment.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Thursday, 14 September 2006 17:30 (nineteen years ago)

why doesn't amazon have pictures of the ernie ball guitar strings? or perhaps somewhere in the product description they could note what gauge the strings are? i guess i'll have to find something else to buy to get free shipping on my book because i'm not buying strings from them. Nye's is number one?! How exciting!! I LOVE NYE'S!! Thanks to Eric, being at Nye's is when I officially fell in love with Minneapolis.

Sarah: what about ordering a "malibu & pineapple juice" or something? It's fruity, most bars have both ingredients and you're not asking for anything complicated so it could work at dingy, low-key bars.

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 17:48 (nineteen years ago)

When I first started drinking beer, it was Natural Light. It tastes like water.

I got confused, I killed a horse (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 17:50 (nineteen years ago)

Is that Esquire article recent, by the way?

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 17:53 (nineteen years ago)

Scratch that. I just found it! I'm feeling Minnesotan pride or something!!

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 17:56 (nineteen years ago)

There you are, Kelsey! I will (hopefully) see you in a week and a half! You can introduce Nick & I to Nye's.

Otto, I prefer to complain to other people online. I know she's getting reprimanded by her boss and taking it out on me. She should have given me the heads up when her toner started running a little low, not waited until the second she needed a new one to tell me. Also, why the fuck can't she just print to another printer? WE ARE ON A NETWORK.

Queen Sarah Saturday (coco), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 17:57 (nineteen years ago)

Black Label is okay!

Old Milwaukee, Blatz, Hamm's, Premo (teh awesome), Huber, IRON CITY, Milwaukee's Best.......

daniel striped tiger (OutDatWay), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 17:57 (nineteen years ago)

When are you & Nick coming to Mpls?!

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 17:59 (nineteen years ago)

I may have already told some of you this.

I was at Rawhide, the leather bar in the Quarter and I tried to order a mixed drink, but it was a no-go. Apparently they're too butch for mixers. So I ordered a Ketel straight up with an olive. But they don't have olives: "No salad bar here, baby."

They have:
liquor
beer
ice
glasses

This is because it's a bar for real men, not fags. Or something TWISTED LIKE THAT.

I got confused, I killed a horse (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 17:59 (nineteen years ago)

We're driving from Madison Saturday morning (the 7th). It will just be a weekend trip. We're driving back Monday (the 9th). We're staying at a Marriott in St Louis Park.

Queen Sarah Saturday (coco), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 18:00 (nineteen years ago)

I've seen Iron City at two bars (the Beat Kitchen and somewhere else) lately. Is this a new trend brought on by the surging popularity of Girl Talk and Ben Roethlisberger or just a coincidence?

jaymc (jaymc), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 18:01 (nineteen years ago)

Wow, I spelled "Roethlisberger" correctly.

i bet you'll even like st. louis park . . . it seems like a cool lil' town.

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 18:12 (nineteen years ago)

Cool. My mom had a free night at a Marriott which she gave us, but only at a certain price level (the downtown Marriotts were too high).

I long for last week when I was able to read at my desk. I really like the book I'm reading now, Perfume.

Queen Sarah Saturday (coco), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 18:16 (nineteen years ago)

Jesse, I would say that you could get away with not paying your parking tickets. I have friends with years-old NO parking tickets and nothing has ever happened. On the other hand, giving the city money (even if it's the PD) probably isn't the worst thing in the world.

Jordan (Jordan), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 18:17 (nineteen years ago)

Jesse in NO update:

Last night the roommates and I walked miles to go to the Superdome where we saw Rebirth play. Then we went to a bar until halftime. Then we went home and kept up with the game on ESPN (Saints won 23-3, with the Falcons scoring only once early in the 1st quarter) and watching Queer as Folk.

Before watching QaF we changed out of our sweaty clothes that reeked of cigar smoke. When we emerged from out bedrooms, the four of us had on Tshirts. They read:

Stacey: Caution: Christ Working Ahead
Meg: Smile God Loves You
Chantelle: St. Augustine Parish Summer Camp
Me: Interf@ith W0rker Just|ce/ All Religi0ns Believe in Justice

I got confused, I killed a horse (unclejessjess), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 18:17 (nineteen years ago)

OH MY GOD, Jesse. You should have seen some of the T-shirts I had growing up. My favorite one, because I'm such a rock n roller at heart, said something like ROCK for Jesus! (or was it ROCK of Ages!?) on it in neon letters. Sadly, I only really remember the ROCK part. This says a lot about me.

I think I might need this soon.

Queen Sarah Saturday (coco), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 18:27 (nineteen years ago)

From my understanding parking tickets are how the Public Defenders Office gets funded, so ethically I've gotta pay the mufuggin tix. I heard on NPR that the funding depends on each year's traffic ticket take, so they don't know year to year how well they're going to be able to staff. This needs to change.

Louisiana is the only state that relies almost exclusively on local traffic-ticket revenue and parking fines — rather than a significant contribution from the state — to finance its low-income residents' constitutionally protected right to a lawyer.
