Acid reflux - you've never had it before?

Trayce (trayce), Monday, 25 September 2006 22:58 (nineteen years ago)

IT'S A DISEASE. GET NEXIUM NOW.

always crashing in other people's cars (kenan), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 00:10 (nineteen years ago)

I fucking despise having to take Nexium every day though, once you start you're pretty well fucked

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 00:21 (nineteen years ago)

once you pop, you can't stop

DUMBOCLAAT (eman), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 00:42 (nineteen years ago)

I was only put on Nexium for ~8 weeks in Spring of last year. I also adjusted my diet and have been fine since.

naus (Robert T), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 00:45 (nineteen years ago)

the only solution is suicide. sorry!

boo berry (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 00:46 (nineteen years ago)

seriously, i'm not kidding.

boo berry (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 00:47 (nineteen years ago)

yeah but my CAREER

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 00:52 (nineteen years ago)

So what's the shitty thing about taking Nexium every day?

Michael Daddino (epicharmus), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 00:56 (nineteen years ago)

(Excuse the way that's phrased; it sounds like I'm implying you're being a big baby BUT I'M DOING NO SUCH THING.)

Makes your stomach feel heavy ALL THE TIME, slight listlessness.

it's a weird thing for me, because I spent years dispensing meds to psych patients - not all waste-you-completely psychotropic meds, either: the whole spectrum, rather - and could never understand why people who knew that stopping their meds would leave them high & dry would so routinely decide to start refusing medication. But there's this helplessness I feel about needing something twice daily just to get by, and the systemic slow-down that naus describes compouding it, that makes me wanna say "dammit to hell, I don't want to be reliant on this shit." My doctor even told me that the damage has been healed and I could stop, but when I stop for a week, my voice really starts to show it. I think the short answer is "it makes me feel old and dependant, and I don't like that."

Thomas Tallis (Tommy), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 01:14 (nineteen years ago)

coming from a family of suicides and depressives (the former quit their medications, the latter stuck it out) i have a real personal dislike of kneejerk hatred of psychiatric medications, which seems to be quite prevalent in the US right now. one of my former roommates was told me about the time he was so depressed he was holding a loaded shotgun to his head, contemplating eternity, but decided against it...in the same breath he said "still, i'd rather be dead than on psychiatric medication." dud.

Squirrel_Police (Squirrel_Police), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 01:18 (nineteen years ago)

i thought your chest just hurt?

boo berry (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 01:19 (nineteen years ago)

anyway i still counsel suicide

boo berry (dubplatestyle), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 01:19 (nineteen years ago)

I hear that if you pop enough acid reflux medication, you see God.

always crashing in other people's cars (kenan), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 01:30 (nineteen years ago)

Well, my GERD wasn't so bad I guess, because I was only put on the pills long enough to heal my throat and esophagus. The doctor knew that I'd be more into a holistic approach anyway, and gave me the dietary recommendations/lifestyle guidelines, of which I only break one or two per day.

naus (Robert T), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 01:37 (nineteen years ago)

SP I don't know if you're tangeting but you'll note that I am pro-psych meds, having spent much of my professional life dispensing them and seeing the real good they can do. I'm just saying that I now understand a little better how some of my former patients felt about the whole matter.

Suicide Baiting: Explain This?

DUMBOCLAAT (eman), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 01:50 (nineteen years ago)

Nothing to explain.

End it all. NOW.

HeWhoCan't (Dough Boy), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 02:43 (nineteen years ago)

My nan used to tell me to relax my solar plexus but I wasn't sure what it was, so I relaxed everything and hoped for the best.

Hard like armour (Hard like armour), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 11:30 (nineteen years ago)

Thomas having to take meds daily for acid reflux, asthma and more than 4 different pyschatric meds I can completely understand where you're coming from. I FUCKIN' HATE PILLS.

Sam: Screwed and Chopped (Molly Jones), Tuesday, 26 September 2006 12:10 (nineteen years ago)

the best cure is to leave ilx and never come back.
