From a technical standpoint Shrek is nice, but PDI still isn't a patch on Pixar.

That said it won't win any Oscars, though it would be extremely funny if it won the best Production Design Oscar considering the films it is up against.

I am 100% heterosexual and have no issues whatsoever with my sexuality. However, I also hate the superbowl and indeed all sporting events.

Oh, and Waking Life, no matter how visually interesting it is, isn't an overall good film. I don't care what technical display a director puts forth - I mean you wouldn't complain if a directorially great live action film with a horrible cast, dialog and plot wasn't nominated, what's the difference in animation? No comment on the worth of Jimmy Neutron, but quite frankly I'm 100% certain it's better than Waking Life.

In the event - well, it's not a bad list. 13 noms for LOTR seems a bit OTT but I can't really fault any one of them. Looks like it's a straight fight between this and A Beautiful Mind (which I haven't seen yet but will this weekend) for the best picture award. Moulin Rouge was the worst movie of 2001 - deserves nothing but I won't begrudge Kidman a win. Best Actor looks wide open - they won't want to give it Russell Crowe twice in a row, surely? He probably starts favourite, nonetheless.
Pleased to see Lynch getting a nomination. The least MD deserves.
What the fuck is Ethan Hawke doing on the list?
