Speaking of Seinfeld/Larry David etc - can any kind Stateside ppl tell me about "Curb Your Enthusiasm"?

I didn't cause I've never actually seen him do stand up (live). Also cause too many people I respect on ILE go bleh about Seinfeld and it hurts me in my heart.

I'm sure I heard somewhere that BBC2 had bought the UK rights to Curb Your Enthusiasm, but having searched the BBC's site I can't find any evidence to support this.

NOOOO Jerry has some great jokes! "why don't dogs carry money? ... No pockets!" Hmm. Curb Your Enthusiasm is the balls. It's the sadistic reality-TV extreme of the George Constanza character. Larry David plays a particularly self-absorbed and boorish version himself, an insecure New Yorker pretending to be a playa in Hollywood. Everything's improvised with hand-held cameras. The actors know what's supposed to happen but they just sort of run with the dialogue. Basic plot: Larry David ruins things with his silly pride and personal vendettas. The only not-believable thing in it is why in the world his smart no-nonsense wife stays with him. He lies to everyone when the truth would be easier. Imagine the worst-case scenario - that's the starting point for each show.

This is my favourite story about show business. Glenn Miller’s orchestra, they were doing some gig somewhere; they can’t land where they’re supposed to land because it’s winter, a snowy night. So they have to land in this field, and walk to the gig. And they’re dressed in their suits, they’re ready to play, they’re carrying their instruments. So they’re walking through the snow and it’s wet and slushy and in the distance they see this little house, and there’s lights on in the inside, and there’s a ball of smoke coming out of the chimney. And they go up to the house and they look in the window and they see this family. There’s a guy and his wife, and she’s beautiful, and there’s two kids and they’re all sitting around the table, and they’re smiling and laughing and they’re eating. There’s a fire in the fireplace. These guys are standing there in their suits and they’re wet and shivering and holding their instruments, and they’re watching this incredible Norman Rockwell scene. One guy turns to the other guy and goes, ‘How do people live like that?’
