The next pioneer must discover the joys of the Arc Cafe, of Planet Pancake, yes even of Countdown!

ducklingmonster, Monday, 7 October 2002 04:57 (twenty-three years ago)

actually i want to talk about who is coming to dunedin - every year there are new people in this town - im not talking about students (to shiny) but people tired of auckie and stuff - or is this dreadful flow north going to continue - sooo who is coming to dunedin?

ducklingmonster, Monday, 7 October 2002 05:04 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes Dunedin is weird, lots of people staying for not that long. It can be annoying though when horrid people come, like earlier this year for me, 'cause it's a small place so it's hard to avoid them especially if they make friends with people you know.

I might not be here later/soon...but I always intend to come back; I love it here.

spectra, Monday, 7 October 2002 05:11 (twenty-three years ago)

Where are you going? If I may ask.

who will i feel loud and annoying round?

ducklingmonster, Monday, 7 October 2002 05:24 (twenty-three years ago)

loud and annoying????!!!!!!! You have never been!

if that's anything about talking loud, I like that because quiet talkers I can't hear them and I have to yell "what?" like at Antron.

spectra, Monday, 7 October 2002 05:30 (twenty-three years ago)

I think that other Anton, who used to work at Arc, should visit.

But most of all the mean streaks I want to come here

spectra, Monday, 7 October 2002 05:33 (twenty-three years ago)

ducklingmonster, Monday, 7 October 2002 05:34 (twenty-three years ago)

i would like to come back for a visit but i only get paid a shilling a month.

liz, m. hyland is flying out to nz on nov. 5th for about 3 weeks. i don't think he can afford to make it to dunedin, but if you could get up to ak you could probably catch up with him.

cameron., Monday, 7 October 2002 11:08 (twenty-three years ago)

me, if i can find a boat that's cheap enough.

jel -- (jel), Monday, 7 October 2002 11:10 (twenty-three years ago)

if i get a grant to finish my book (note to self: remember to apply) i will do a flat-swap w. someone in dunedin and live there for a WHOLE SIX MONTHS maybe (even tho this wd require transportation of bazillions of booXoRz and stuff and is actually only semi-practicable)

cameron, is NR coming too?????

yes I can make it to that wretched city

Hey Beth, I've been dying to do a zine library for so long now - I think it would be good to have a zine/comics section in the library but a nice place to lounge around in and that could double as an art showing space etc would be so wonderful.

elizabeth anne marjorie, Monday, 7 October 2002 21:53 (twenty-three years ago)

i know i know. the public library has some half decent comics. but a zine/comic library would be soooo great. might motivate me to get photocopying. wouldnt the iso12 cosmetic space be perfect! all the corners and even window seats!

ducklingmonster, Monday, 7 October 2002 23:18 (twenty-three years ago)

mark s, you could never do a flat swap with anyone, because everyone would want to stay and meet you.

rainy (rainy), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 01:08 (twenty-three years ago)

Hey we have a zine library w/lounging space etc right here in this "wretched" city.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 02:17 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah it's pretty good actually! I get good cheap clothes from there too.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 04:15 (twenty-three years ago)

AND I got Al Green's greatest hits, 2lp, for a dollar. How WRETCHED!

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 04:23 (twenty-three years ago)

aww poor little andrew offended at the slanderous insult I hurled at his darling city! hyeh!

elizabeth anne marjorie spectra halo, Tuesday, 8 October 2002 05:06 (twenty-three years ago)

I'd love to come to Dunedin but it'll be a while before I can afford a holiday... unless someone wants to organise a tour for my little pop combo..

Ralf Hütter nad Florian Schneider due to cruise into Dunedin on their bikes, february 2003.

elizabeth anne marjorie spectra halo, Tuesday, 8 October 2002 05:21 (twenty-three years ago)

Dunedin's smaller than HAMILTON! you know, S.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 05:23 (twenty-three years ago)

many strange wondrous people and terrible terrible rock bands are from Hamilton

elizabeth spectral, Tuesday, 8 October 2002 05:26 (twenty-three years ago)

I guess Dunedin's OK for a two week visit.... Auckland's not THAT bad really!

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 05:32 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah we just walked past that great Hamiltron band Trinket as they were being interviewed by TV3. apparently they're on the cover of NME this week.

hamish (hamish), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 05:32 (twenty-three years ago)

Yes I guess that is the first NME cover schtars I've walked past.

Oh the reasons for Auckland's ickyness. I truly believe it to be one of thee worst cities anywhere ever, but then, I haven't exactly been to many others.

spectra elizabeth haloistical emeraldian, Tuesday, 8 October 2002 05:36 (twenty-three years ago)

Did you know it has a ZINE LIBRARY?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 05:38 (twenty-three years ago)

yeah and it's really cool and punkrock!

I bet you can't even read those zines because of all the carbon monoxide in your braine! an' you can't start your own less punk one 'cause you have to spend all your money on rent unless you live with your parents.

spectra elizabeth anne marjorie, Tuesday, 8 October 2002 05:42 (twenty-three years ago)

in Dunedin there is 000000.00001 person per 200 metres squared, which is why we have to beg people to visit us, because we are lonely.

spectra elizabeth anne marjorie, Tuesday, 8 October 2002 05:44 (twenty-three years ago)

Perhaps you shouldn't suggest to potential visitors that they can't read?

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 05:50 (twenty-three years ago)

It's okay, once you're here the air will be so clear after the Auckland atmosphere, it will do you the world of good

spectra elizabeth anne marjorie, Tuesday, 8 October 2002 05:58 (twenty-three years ago)

I'm sorry I couldn't read that

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 06:00 (twenty-three years ago)

Yeah I tried as well, sorry.

Elisabeth (Elisabeth), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 06:02 (twenty-three years ago)

When spectra first moved here from Fuckland she kept saying that people here had next to no books. so maybe no-one reads anywhere.

hamish (hamish), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 06:02 (twenty-three years ago)

rock city rocker is maryann's right

ron (ron), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 06:05 (twenty-three years ago)

I have about 2000 books, I just haven't read them all.

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 06:07 (twenty-three years ago)

what the hell???! I did not! I only said that once, about someone who put themselves forward as a big interlectual, and I was drunk and I told you hamish that I thought it was shitty of me to have thought that was a bad thing not to own heaps of books. Also I hardly knew anyone in fuckland so I had dumber ideas.

yes Ron that was maryann's writing; rock city rocker is hers and ddorags

spectra, Tuesday, 8 October 2002 06:09 (twenty-three years ago)

HUFF, Hamish! Trinket are from Cambridge! they rose from the ashes of PUGNAUT! Everyone knows this, geez.

petra jane (petra jane), Tuesday, 8 October 2002 06:55 (twenty-three years ago)

liz,

n.r. and m.h. actually broke up quite a while ago, but they're still good friends. so, no she's not going with m.

cameron, Tuesday, 8 October 2002 16:34 (twenty-three years ago)

well that makes sense since at the moment I am surprised to find there is still gravity and the sun still comes up every day (sorry - referring to personal circumstances leading to shellshocked guttedness etc blah) fuck I feel a bit silly not knowing that but he never writes to me or anything

elizabeth anne marjorie spectra, Wednesday, 9 October 2002 00:01 (twenty-three years ago)
