i've heard a track called "eat maggot" and it is the one song in the world that i find too disturbing to listen to. and maybe that's the point.

gareth (gareth), Sunday, 24 November 2002 10:39 (twenty-three years ago)

its a good idea. for five seconds. after that its 'rubbish in, rubbish out and get some takayanagi/karou abe duos for some good action' OK.

Experienced in a live setting, the onslaught is painful and/or redemptive...how he is not yet deaf I do not know. His wrapping of numerous contact mics around his teeth--screaming whilst diving into a hi-hat over and over seemed like genius to me the first time I encountered it. I'm sure he is amusingly soft-spoken when not performing. Anyone know of a GuitarPlayer-like magazine covering Japanese-noise/power-electronics technique?

Yes, it's called 'Noiju Battle: Hell Experience' and is released quarterly, featuring the latest in pedophilic gang-rape manga, tips on how to play a cup of your own piss through a half-stack and lists of other new ways to invalidate your lease agreement.

Once this dude was doing a Saturday night shift while I was finishing up some work at the station and we got a call from somebody holding a party requesting some good booty music or something - he put the Masonna on and shortly later we recieved a call bitching us out for being a huge buzzkill. He apologized and said he would immediately play some dance tunes. So of course it was back-to-back Masonna. And we used to wonder why nobody listened to college radio.

it does amuse me how someone will always give an anecdote abt how, you know, they just play noise or whatnot and then they say that ppl complain abt it, and when they do they play more of it and give a big chuckle to themselves.

masonna gets brownie points from me in that he has stuck with this one thing for so long. he has faith in it and I'd like to see it live.

''julio, does it hurt to always be so wrong?''

so sez the guy who can only stand Sun Ra. and on top of that, expresses a liking for nick drake. please.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 25 November 2002 10:39 (twenty-three years ago)

should say: the only jazz guy he likes is sunra.

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 25 November 2002 11:13 (twenty-three years ago)

i'd rather listen to "destructive microphone" 8,000 times than 5 minutes of miles davis' wank shite. if it's right to be wrong, then let me be right.

your null fame (yournullfame), Monday, 25 November 2002 11:38 (twenty-three years ago)

and a few seconds of takayanagi and abe improvising means more to me than all the masonna crap put together. accept it or DIE!!!

Julio Desouza (jdesouza), Monday, 25 November 2002 12:03 (twenty-three years ago)

no, you accept _THIS_! MOTHERFUCKER!!!

two years pass...
Do Masonna records vary at all? I have two and they're both good but virtually indistinguishable.

Mark (MarkR), Thursday, 30 June 2005 15:37 (twenty years ago)

I'd say he improves the stereo panning effects over time, and some records have segments of "repetition," others, not.
