also: dan backwards = nad! and they both have two syllables in their last name

minna (minna), Sunday, 15 December 2002 15:50 (twenty-two years ago)

It's all mysterious that way. ;-)

There are in fact disagreements here and there. I enjoy "Sk8er Boi," for instance, Dan hates it with a passion. I'm unmoved by Christina Aguilera's ability to sing very well on a technical level, Dan finds it crucial. And so forth. Elsewhere we differ in matters of degree -- I know Dan enjoys the Smashing Pumpkins at many points, whereas I'm the rabid hyperfan.

On many key things, however -- the worth of ol' Robert up there, not to mention Prince and Orbital, and the sublime and idiotic folly of Justin, Andrew WK and Belle and Sebastian -- we are of one mind. BOW DOWN.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 15 December 2002 16:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Does Smashmouth actually have a fan base?

I really, really like all of the Smashmouth singles. I also saw them live when "Walking On The Sun" came out and they were pretty brilliant. (Light-years better than Third Eye Blind, anyway.)
-- Dan Perry (djperry@p...), December 13th, 2002.

Dan, you can no longer complain about me liking "Sk8er Boi" if you willingly say the above statement. ;-)
-- Ned Raggett (ned@k...), December 13th, 2002.

Curtis Stephens, Sunday, 15 December 2002 16:49 (twenty-two years ago)

Ah yes, a recent schism!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 15 December 2002 16:56 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned wouldn't make a dirty joke using the word schism either.

Mr Noodles (Mr Noodles), Sunday, 15 December 2002 17:57 (twenty-two years ago)

One never knows, do one?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 15 December 2002 18:44 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned hides his dirty side, but when it comes out to play... WHOOO.

Then again, I don't think Ned would have linked that Anna K/dolphin rape story to another thread.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 15 December 2002 19:09 (twenty-two years ago)

Quite right, Mr. Perry. Fools rush in and all. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 15 December 2002 19:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Dan likes Insane Clown Posse. Ned claims that he doesn't.

I, for one, am smarter than that -- I think this alleged disagreement is nothing but a red herring, to fool us ILXors into thinking that they are different people when they are not!

Tad (llamasfur), Sunday, 15 December 2002 19:43 (twenty-two years ago)

Ned liked the ICP Eminem diss!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Sunday, 15 December 2002 20:00 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm not per se *fond* of ICP but I don't actively despise them or anything. And that one song was indeed evilly funny.

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 15 December 2002 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

(Unfortunately I may have gotten Dan's brother in there instead of Dan. Apologies in advance.)

Sean Carruthers (SeanC), Sunday, 15 December 2002 23:24 (twenty-two years ago)

It's about right anyway.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 16 December 2002 00:26 (twenty-two years ago)

No, that's me. Heh.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 16 December 2002 13:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I do at least susepct that both of them are pretty likely to like the forthcoming Soft Cell remix of the Future Bible Heroes' "Losing Your Affection" pretty well....

M Matos (M Matos), Monday, 16 December 2002 14:12 (twenty-two years ago)

I think I saw Dan on Christmas With Pops on Saturday night.

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 16 December 2002 14:14 (twenty-two years ago)

If you watched it, you certainly did! I was in the front row on the right side of the TV (sort of behind the brass section).

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 16 December 2002 14:42 (twenty-two years ago)

I think this alleged disagreement is nothing but a red herring, to fool us ILXors into thinking that they are different people when they are not!

Hrmmm...those of us who went to the Boston FAP met two separate individuals, whose faces matched the pictures we've seen here...or is that just what they want us to think!?

j.lu (j.lu), Monday, 16 December 2002 14:57 (twenty-two years ago)

I did watch, I thought that was you. Everytime they panned in on you, you weren't singing.

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 16 December 2002 15:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Hrmmm...those of us who went to the Boston FAP met two separate individuals, whose faces matched the pictures we've seen here...or is that just what they want us to think!?

Holographs do wonders these days. Why, 'we' were even interacting! Joei knows the whole story and tolerates this.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 16 December 2002 15:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Yeah, I either wasn't singing or was looking down in my music with a vaguely worried look on my face. That's because we typically get the music for that concert about three days beforehand.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Monday, 16 December 2002 15:50 (twenty-two years ago)

very good concert, i enjoyed it.

Chris V. (Chris V), Monday, 16 December 2002 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

one year passes...
Revive.

the icebox (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 22:13 (twenty-one years ago)

i agree

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 22:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Ned, what do you think of Janet Jackson's "Empty"?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 22:19 (twenty-one years ago)

As yet nothing because I'm not familiar with the title.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 22:48 (twenty-one years ago)

BOO HISS.

How about Front 242's "Tragedy (For You)"?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 22:52 (twenty-one years ago)

isn't it a shame Janet Jackson has never had a number one single in the UK?

stevem (blueski), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 22:52 (twenty-one years ago)

Yes, it keeps me up at night.

dean! (deangulberry), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 23:00 (twenty-one years ago)

There's a cure for that...

the Eskibox (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

...something of an ILX obsession...

the Eskibox (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 23:02 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't know if Ned would be excited at the prospect of eating ice cream out of Halle Berry's butt, so maybe they don't agree on everything.

El Diablo Robotico (Nicole), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 23:06 (twenty-one years ago)

However, if was Thandi Newton....

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 23:07 (twenty-one years ago)

...or yer man Shields...

the Eskibox (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 23:08 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan, what's your take on facial hair exactly? I don't think you've ever been clear on that issue. Don't you have some? I feel that this could be a clincher.

the Eskibox (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 23:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Although I guess Ned's face-fuzz policy only comes down hard on sideburns.

the Eskibox (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 23:13 (twenty-one years ago)

At the moment I have an Isaac Hayes beard!

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 23:14 (twenty-one years ago)

So many possible responses...

the Eskibox (nordicskilla), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 23:16 (twenty-one years ago)

...so few tasteful.

cozen (Cozen), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 23:22 (twenty-one years ago)

I renounce the pervertalism and ice cream devouring alluded on this thread. It is not meet or right.

BOO HISS.

I said the *title*, I might well know the song.

How about Front 242's "Tragedy (For You)"?

One of the sources of life and enlightenment in this, our sorry age. I couldn't ever imagine thinking one of the sublime moments in my concert life is hearing the band play it live out of a three story tall amplifier setup at Lollapalooza 1993 oh no.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 20 January 2004 23:27 (twenty-one years ago)

'Ice Cream And Ass' could be a songtitle by Prince or, mondo more likely, Andre 3K.

Barima (Barima), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 03:33 (twenty-one years ago)

Dan Perry and Ned Raggett: will they eat ice cream out of each other's asses?

Can I compliment D and N for having great taste without being a suckup?

sucka (sucka), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 05:05 (twenty-one years ago)

ned and dan are NOT the same, b/c they do NOT have entirely similar musical obsessions.

behold! Ned vs. Dan Perry.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 05:17 (twenty-one years ago)

darn, i fucked up:

behold! Ned vs. Dan Perry.

Eisbär (llamasfur), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 05:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah it's terrible how we both hate Gary Numan. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 05:37 (twenty-one years ago)

Gary who? Oh, didn't he do some song about cars? That was cool.

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 14:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Ner ner ner ner.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:27 (twenty-one years ago)

ned likes Poison, dan hates them.

jel -- (jel), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 18:31 (twenty-one years ago)

This is true, and Dan enjoys Bon Jovi whereas I wish flaming death upon them.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 19:04 (twenty-one years ago)

O/~~~the way you wear your hat...the way you sip your tea...

janni (janni), Wednesday, 21 January 2004 19:41 (twenty-one years ago)

one year passes...
I AM LISTENING TO "Tragedy (For You)" RIGHT NOW ON REPEAT

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 13 May 2005 19:12 (twenty years ago)

"HER ACID RAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIN"

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 13 May 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)

(As for me, I have been listening to NIN remixes etc. all day. Currently on the Spacetime Continuum remix of "Perfect Drug." How anyone could hate the CD single when the first two remixes are by MBM and Plug is beyond me.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 13 May 2005 19:17 (twenty years ago)

only thing i dislike about that single is that it doesn't include the original version of "perfect drug."
