After reading Simon Reynolds yearlist, I thought it'd be nice to do a quick bootleg of his number 1 and 8 tunes. Get it here while it lasts.

Thirded. Fantastic stuff.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 31 December 2002 19:48 (twenty-three years ago)

Even if the title is misleading (shouldn't it be "I Love Rock"?), i will fourthulate the big ups here. Wick. Ed.

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 15:22 (twenty-three years ago)

!! i've never heard the vitalic bit of this! so if this is poney what on earth was the poney mp3 i'd been listening to?

minna (minna), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 15:37 (twenty-three years ago)

(btw yes it's great, particularly the bit when dizzy kicks in again)

minna (minna), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 15:39 (twenty-three years ago)

It's not "Poney". It's "La Rock".

Nate Patrin (Nate Patrin), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 20:19 (twenty-three years ago)

My best friend got to dj 11-12 last night before Dave Clarke came on at 12, after discussing it beforehand he agreed to play La Rock as the last song of the year, it was a moment.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 20:44 (twenty-three years ago)

I got this labeled as the A1 track of the Poney EP, which would be "Poney Part 1", right? Have I been mixing up these two tunes all year?...aaargghhh!!

Siegbran (eofor), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 21:34 (twenty-three years ago)

Your not alone Siegbran (see past thread) I bought the Vitalic EP and still get confused.

stevo (stevo), Wednesday, 1 January 2003 21:47 (twenty-three years ago)

Help me identify these Vitalic tracks

Matt DC (Matt DC), Thursday, 2 January 2003 13:18 (twenty-three years ago)

SR reffed my review of "Poney Part 1" but that review was also of "La Rock 01" so maybe Simon's been bamboozled like many of the rest of us!

Tom (Groke), Thursday, 2 January 2003 13:23 (twenty-three years ago)

BTW thanks for all the praise - it's probably the sloppiest mash up I've done yet (a 15 minute rushjob without a proper acappella of Dizzy - I just ran the whole thing through a crude highpass filter), but I think it worked out quite well. Yesterday I finally got round to playing it on big speakahs, and with full bass it's even more evillllll.

Siegbran (eofor), Thursday, 2 January 2003 15:42 (twenty-three years ago)

I can't believe some of you were talking about the other Vitalic track which isn't La Rock! I mean it's good but La Rock is the true earth shaker, so many memories, at my friends 21st they had some cheesey dj all night obviously cos parents and all were present but at the end he asked the dj to put on "number 25 please" on the 2 many djs cd that was in his discman, and the whole place went insane. the table with his parents were looking at all the young people and it was like the generation gap was opening before their eyes, half the room thinking "this sounds like a broken appliance" and the other half thinking "gehao;chasdckesdhgfcied WOOOOO"

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 3 January 2003 15:43 (twenty-three years ago)

(did I mention I enjoy talking about dance songs)

Ronan (Ronan), Friday, 3 January 2003 15:43 (twenty-three years ago)

Ah screw you all - the tune I used in this bootleg was "Poney Part 1" all along. The 2 many dj's CD and the Miss Kittin "On The Road" cd both have La Rock 01, which is brilliant but clearly NOT the tune I used, and the DJ Tiga "American Gigolo" CD has "Poney Part 1" listed which IS the track I used.

Siegbran (eofor), Saturday, 11 January 2003 23:28 (twenty-three years ago)

Oh. My.

God.

How the fuck did you even DO that? That first minute after Dizzee comes back in is so fucking insane, I had no idea music could BE that frantic, wow. This is the best thing I've heard since empty cans and maybe longer. I am walking around my room with my mouth totally open.

StanM (StanM), Tuesday, 23 January 2007 10:59 (nineteen years ago)

My friend did another edit of this without the Dizzee vocals on the first verse, just so the "that girl's from school" bit would scare the shit out of people. S'alright.

Heheh, capitalize on the fame. Anyway, good on yer for finding that 'life' balance most of all. And if you're still sharing plenty of good stuff plz to drop a line.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 24 January 2007 18:29 (nineteen years ago)

Hey Siegbran, "I Luv Poney" got a lot of plays at monthly warehouse parties in New Zealand last year . . . much obliged!
