Britney Spears and Fred Durst shockah!

What the fuck?

Sales of the next Limp Bizkit album could be the true test to see if Rap-Rock is still a viable force or just as finished as Disco in the ’80s. Fred Durst and co. are close to wrapping up the next opus (even though they still don’t have a guitarist), and according to Durst, it will hit fans like a ton of bricks. "I’m in the studio just about to wrap up the vocals! Only four songs away," wrote Durst on the band’s official Web site. "Today [1/11] Al Jourgesen from Ministry is in the studio with me and we're gonna tear some shit up! The first single is called ‘Crack Addict!’ It’s so fucking heavy!" Durst denied rumors that he sang with Britney Spears in the studio, but he did say, "All this stuff about Britney and me is everywhere. Anybody out there who has a serious problem with my feelings for Britney should just chill and worry about your own feelings for a minute. I am a good judge of character and so is she. It just happens to be a person that I would have thought could make me feel this way. And believe that I have never felt this way, so there. If you think I’m going soft then you go ahead and think it until we drop this sick fucking album in few months."

"Al Jourgesen from Ministry is in the studio with me and we're gonna tear some shit up!"

That is the *REALLY* tragic part....that Al J. has sunk so low.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 23:23 (twenty-two years ago)

I dunno, maybe Limp Bizkit will suddenly sound like early 90s Ministry. Hopefully without Fred Durst singing over the top.

Nordicskillz (Nordicskillz), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 23:25 (twenty-two years ago)

heh heh heh heh.....the chocolate starfish will rise again!

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 23:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Ministry were covering "Thieves" live for a while....and then there's all those NIN lyrical snippets on that first CHOCOLATE STARFISH track. Could it be that Fred Durst is a closet industrial kid?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 23:27 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Kim (Kim), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 23:28 (twenty-two years ago)

Erm... ::blinks::

Somehow it makes a strange kind of sense, though.

kate, Tuesday, 14 January 2003 23:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Isn't it some sort of sin to call a Limp Bizkit album an "opus"?

Curtis Stephens, Tuesday, 14 January 2003 23:50 (twenty-two years ago)

*insert sarcastic comment about Alex's Freudian thingie*

It's pretty beautifully self-reflexive.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 23:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Alex's comment or his Freudian thingie?

Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 23:54 (twenty-two years ago)

All depends on how one yanks the crank.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Tuesday, 14 January 2003 23:54 (twenty-two years ago)

Let's leave my crank and/or thingie out of this, shall we?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 01:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Does this mean there are going to be a lot of 40-something guys living in their mom's basement suddenly donning red hats backwards, rank arm tattoos, indulging in the worst aesthetic of a mid-life crisis a human male can effect?

donut bitch (donut), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 02:20 (twenty-two years ago)

It can't be any worse than the mullets they current have. Oh wait, yes it could.

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 02:26 (twenty-two years ago)

Sorry, currently have.

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 02:29 (twenty-two years ago)

It takes a nation of mullets to hold us back.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 02:34 (twenty-two years ago)

A mullet matches with the camaro. I don't know what mid-life crisis car matches the Durst lifestyle.

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 02:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Easy, an SUV...but all cherried out, man! You know, flames on the side.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 03:02 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm sorry, but even I'D drive an SUV with flames on the side.

Anthony Miccio (Anthony Miccio), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 03:06 (twenty-two years ago)

First person to post a photograph of themselves in such an actual vehicle gets my undying praise.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 03:07 (twenty-two years ago)

I saw an SUV with a huge Sleater-Kinney sticker on the back! I really wished I had a camera, it just seemed so incongruous.

Nicole (Nicole), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 03:12 (twenty-two years ago)

! I love the world sometimes.

Well, Atleast Eminem is no longer struggling with writers block when it comes to material for his new record. I guess thats a bad thing too.

mallory bourgeois (painter man), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 08:34 (twenty-two years ago)

I can't believe there's actually a thread discussing Limp Bizkit seriously.

maria b (maria b), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:17 (twenty-two years ago)

I'm delighted to say there have been several.

Tom (Groke), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

M Matos (M Matos), Wednesday, 15 January 2003 15:19 (twenty-two years ago)

This is a serious discussion about Limp Bizkit? I'd hate to see a jokey one!
