My own little CD and LP sale.

OK. I need to make room for some recent purchases (at least in my head) so I'm trying to get rid of a bunch of old stuff.

I though instead of taking these things to eBay or suffer the humilation of local record stores I thought I'd post them here first, to see if any ILXers are interested. The prices below are just my vague ideas of what people might pay for the items. Please feel free to email me and make me an offer, preferably for a bunch of items at once but if you really want only one, let me know. Please do not post to this thread to make me an offer or claim "dibs" on a particular selection. If something is no longer available I'll let you know.

In terms of conditions, all the CDs play fine although some may have faint scuffs. The LPs vary in condition. Some are NM some are VG. I didn't have time just now to look carefully at all the vinyl so please, feel free to inquire as to the condition of any particular LP or CD, sleeves, jewel boxes, liner notes, etc. I can also give you info as to track listings, etc. if you'd like.

Buyer would pay for shipping from the USA, and of course we can work out a refund if you're unhappy, etc. Incidentally I'm on eBay as "amateurist" if you want to check my feedback for reference.

If you think any of the prices are outlandishly high or low, let me know in this thread or by email. I'm not trying to make a bundle here by any means. I just want to see that as many of these items as possible make it into happy hands. It's cliché, but I won't reject any reasonable offer.

Thanks!!!!!!

P.S. I am not really a vinyl junkie so apologies if there is any wrong or misleading information on here, it would just be a result of my ignorance.

Amateurist (amateurist), Saturday, 1 February 2003 07:14 (twenty-two years ago)

Check yr e-mail.

Jody Beth Rosen (Jody Beth Rosen), Saturday, 1 February 2003 07:30 (twenty-two years ago)

(NB before anyone complains Amateurist did ask the moderator's permission before doing this - and I'm OK with ppl using ILM to do this generally. If loads of people wanted to do it we'd probably start a new board.)

Tom (Groke), Saturday, 1 February 2003 09:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Tom, I wonder if the privelege of doing this might be restricted to reasonably regular posters? This obviously includes Amateurist (even if he does lump Gary US Bonds with the giveaway rubbish!), but it might be a bad thing if people who don't spend time here otherwise started using it that way. Except without the apparatus of a site like ebay, I can't see why anyone would trust people they don't know here.

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 1 February 2003 14:34 (twenty-two years ago)

Why don't we just limit for sale posts to one thread?

mark p (Mark P), Saturday, 1 February 2003 14:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Maybe this is self controlling, let anyone post ads here; but unless we know and trust them, they aren't likely to sell anything ... so they won't keep trying.

phil jones (interstar), Saturday, 1 February 2003 14:59 (twenty-two years ago)

If you guys think this sort of thing is bad for ILX ecology, I'd be OK if Tom deleted this thread.

Amateurist (amateurist), Saturday, 1 February 2003 15:14 (twenty-two years ago)

No, I'm not trying to say that at all, Amateurist! I meant no attack on you, it was just occurring to me as a possible future problem. Though I think what phil says might well be correct: I'd feel a great deal more security responding to sale offers from you or others I know through here, but I wouldn't send money to someone of whom I'd never heard without more apparatus to decrease the risk, such as on ebay.

Amateurist (amateurist), Monday, 3 February 2003 22:31 (twenty-two years ago)

Martin no one's making you post checks to people against your will! There actually was a thread started once to consolidate these types of things in one place. Maybe it could still be used for this purpose? (maybe as its own category?) I'm looking at it now and am shocked to see what I was willing to part with!! Maybe we should call a moratorium on all this stuff for our future mental health
