To those who don't know George, read his creed and see if you can keep your blood pressure down

George Starostin doesn't agree with that anymore as he wrote it several years ago. Don't hold it against him.I suspect that some of that ideology is still embedded way to deep to extract.

However, with statements like this one could almost expect him to turn into some kind of Adorno of rock criticism start speaking positively about non-melodic "head music" genres such as progressive techno.
Prog rock, on the other hand, was a highly experimental, innovative genre. It's true that its creators didn't often care about the actual 'enjoyability' of their music, but then again, neither did the majority of classical composers who put their creative inspiration ahead of the public's tastes.
Which kind of lumps him with everybody else who requires "innovation". Personally, I think a lot more enjoyable music has come out the merging of already existing styles other than purist innovation.

Of course there will always be a soft spot in my heart for the great Mark Prindle. I was browsing his site last night not really intending to read anything but I started scanning through the review of Lou Reed's "The Raven" and couldn't stop. It was absolutely gut-bustingly funny. Just like his records. (maybe we should have a LuMP:S/D?)
