If you were a gynaecologist and Missy Elliot came in would you make your excuses and leave the room?

Lynskey (Lynskey), Thursday, 3 April 2003 22:01 (twenty-one years ago) link

Cal, the next time you suffering post-masturbation buyer's remorse and questioning your existence cuz the cult movie zine aint' going so well and mom's threatening to charge rent, and your standing before the bathroom mirror with the razor in your hand thinking about taking action, showing the world, just wait and see, by all means feel free to actually do it. Make yourself a martyr to your own misunderstood. Teach me a lesson - trust me, there's no way I'll be able to live with the guilt - and do it in style, with "The Universal" on repeat and a note/manifesto decrying the cruelties of this world what with it's unattractive women and all. You'll leave your mother a much better memory of you than whatever you'll be at forty, and you'll have really made a difference in the world, a one man unicef. Be a hero Calzy! and take Splendid Mullet withya!

James Blount (James Blount), Thursday, 3 April 2003 22:21 (twenty-one years ago) link

Oh James, it sounds to me like you have a history of self-abuse or something. I take pity on you my son, for thoughts such as this cannot be healthy or positive and if you spent the time worrying about me perhaps trying to do something for yourself I'm sure you'd be a better person.

The mag's going fine James. You should perhaps buy a copy.

I like making my odd, irregular, little posts here James. It makes me happy to see that I can get your little self talking, inspire your empty little life with pictures and ideas of who I might be or what I might look like or what mental state I might be in. Suffice to say, you couldn't be more off the mark but if it keeps you happy to vent your obvious insecurities out on me then I'd advise it.

AS long as it stops you hanging yourself.

LOL!!!! This thread is brilliant!

maria b (maria b), Thursday, 3 April 2003 22:55 (twenty-one years ago) link

Calum, don't paint yourself as some quaint gent brightening people's day all Mary Poppins. You're a sexist ass with the social skills of a baboon on PCP. Repulsive /= brilliant or funny, and for anyone over the age of 13 to think so is depressing. Furthermore as a troll you ain't come close to touching becky lucas, frankly you not quick enough.

James Blount (James Blount), Thursday, 3 April 2003 23:05 (twenty-one years ago) link

How can you judge someone's social skills over the internet? Duh! HAHAHAHA you have shown yourself to KING NERD shunned and despised by society and unable to carry any sort of in-person conversation and thus relying on your keyboard and a computer screen to make friends. My heart bleeds for you James, but don't fret - it can only get better. Why not introduce yourself to your next door neighbour or look up the classifieds if you need some flesh and blood company? That way maybe I won't be on your mind all day out of a lack of anything better to do.]

Repulsive can equal brilliant and funny. I'd point you to Irvin Welsh, Chris Morris or my fave local comedian a great chap called Allan Millar. As well as others.

Not that I think of myself as a comic genius, but I certainly don't consider myself sexist. It's actually impossible for me to be sexist, I've been raised only by women and, as such, in real life (That's real life James, the real world) have nothing but the utmost respect for the opposite sex. Then again, my experience of women (and, hey, this might just be me) has several funny, independent, intelligent young and old ladies who can out-crude even myself if they do desire. Yup, I've had vibrator conversations and all porn conversations and 'I'd fuck him until he bleeds' conversations with women. Just as I've met women who think all men are cunts (I even went out with one once).

But, hey, guess they can't be proper women if they don't fit into your own ideal of what a female should be an are GROSSED OUT by a silly, harmless thread such as this.

Get a life James and stop concerning yourself with mine you sad, pathetic little man.

Calum, Thursday, 3 April 2003 23:14 (twenty-one years ago) link

"Just as I've met women who think all men are cunts (I even went out with one once)."

And just to confirm it wasn't me that made her that way, much as I'm sure many would. It was a lot more complex than that but out of respect I'm not at liberty to say.

Oh please James - go ahead. If having me in your life means THAT MUCH to you and you are so empty without me then please hi jack my threads. It's sad, of course, but I support you in this. If it stops you from doing something silly to yourself or fantasising about killing a dog or something then great.

And James, I am perfectly happy with the love and tenderness I recieve. But, hey, I'm open to be proven wrong!

I post here coz I'm usually

A) At work
B) Bored and working on stuff (like freelancing or my mag that you seem so obsessed by)
or
C) It's not the weekend yet
D) I'm too broke to get wasted.

That good enough for you?

yes, there need to be more answers here pertaining to the question at hand.
So let me tell you, if I were a gynocologist and missy was my patient, I'd figure out how to work from behind some sort of lead shield; not because she'd repulse me (she wouldn't) but because judging from the reputation she's built up of it in her songs I fully expect that cootch to radiate pure explosive all-vaporizing pussy power the second she drops her jogging pants.

"2003 was very much the year of Calum in my expert opinion. he really livened up ILX with his hilarious posts and proved quite imaginative, much to the envious outrage of many of the other posters there who only wished they could think of such clever stuff and be as popular with the ladies and whatnot"

"Yeah, I remember Calum. 2003 was a big year for ILX, or at least my brother went on about it a lot in between shoving the Gary Jules Crimbo CD up his arse. You see, the thing with Calum is that he was an absolute breath of fresh air, none of your pompous stuff about the VU or Phillip Glass, he went straight for the tits and ass! I loved him! I remember Calem. There was a debate thread on Gay Marriage, and he raised some interesting debate points and in general contributed in a meaningful and thoughtful way. I did not agree with about 10% of his viewpoint, but that made for an interesting exchange of views.

And then there's rubbish like this sort of thread.

Conclusion: Can be great on other threads, but bad on his own originals.

"Aye, Calum's inconsistency has been shockin' this year - some days he's great, others he's atrocious. Ultimately that's what has cost him points, because there are no easy threads on ILM these days. It's a kamikaze approach to post these threads about women."
