Melody never caused anyone to spend a couple of seconds in their English Language exams trying to remember how to spell it, unlike rh... ry... ryhy... rhythy... ryhthym.

Has been done several times. I still support melody one hundred per cent. Melody vs. harmony is a more interesting thread (I think I support harmony although both need each other - French philosophers like Voltaire and Rousseau had a couple of interesting melody vs. harmony discussions in the 18th century btw) :-)
