All I have by him is the brilliantly cinematic Choochtown, and by cinematic I mean a gritty Scorcese flick as filtered through the Jim Carroll Band circa Catholic Boy. I've downloaded a track from his live album called "I Hate Your Kid," which is mighty funny, but it's more stand-up comedy than anything else. Beyond that, I don't know all that much about him (despite the fact that he seems to regularly play a few East Village spots normally frequented by those self-styled so-called "anti-folk" types).

What say you folks?

He spent a good period of time in Austin , cutting a few records there, including one I've been looking for called "The Chord Is Mightier Than The Sword" which is supposed to be really good. He also writes for Uncut.

CLASSIC!

Ed's Not Dead - Hamell Comes Alive! is the live album that I Hate Your Kid comes off, and it is great.

But what you really need to do is see the man live... definitely one of the best things I've ever seen, ever.

Total Classic. All of it. "The Chord .."" is his best, but you can't go wrong with any of them..

You MUST see him live... I can't begin to describe it .. I have some bootlegs that don't even begin to describe it.

I like what I heard of Choochtown, but worried it would tire over a whole album.

Uncut to thread!

Anyone planning on going to see Hamell?
