Well, in my case, exposure to ILM board made me discover Can and the Boredoms, but I guess that in time, it will broaden my taste a bit more... How about you? What would you never listen to, if not by the action of ILM?

JP Almeida (JP Almeida), Sunday, 1 June 2003 21:46 (twenty-one years ago)

oh, and Gorky's Zygotic Mynci's "Barafundle", of course... Lovely.

JP Almeida (JP Almeida), Sunday, 1 June 2003 21:49 (twenty-one years ago)

can't think of a band off the top of my head, but because of this board i've been playing kanye west's "thru the wire" multiple times a day.

Disco Inferno and Dismemberment Plan in particular, though there are several albums I found out through ILM.

Vinnie (vprabhu), Sunday, 1 June 2003 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

roger adultery (roger adultery), Sunday, 1 June 2003 22:51 (twenty-one years ago)

MBV
Absu

Not as many as I would've thought. ILM has influenced me to get into bands of whom I was previously a passing listener but it hasn't made me get into many bands I had never heard before.

dog latin (dog latin), Sunday, 1 June 2003 22:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Nickalicious

Lord Custos Epsilon (Lord Custos Epsilon), Sunday, 1 June 2003 23:04 (twenty-one years ago)

The Streets

Millar (Millar), Sunday, 1 June 2003 23:16 (twenty-one years ago)

none, actually my taste is so poor i realize what i need to avoid based on the amount of praise it receives on here. people on prodigy from like 91-93 had more influence.

keith (keithmcl), Monday, 2 June 2003 01:54 (twenty-one years ago)

Sugababes, definitely. I still listen to Angels With Dirty Faces at work at least twice a week.

Paul Cox (paul cox), Monday, 2 June 2003 02:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Any of Timbaland's productions.

Sean (Sean), Monday, 2 June 2003 02:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Everything I've listened to since 2000.

(nb: this is only true if you include "the radio" as a thing which ILM hooked me on)

Sterling Clover (s_clover), Monday, 2 June 2003 02:32 (twenty-one years ago)

vic godard and the subway sect (in this case, ilm = dr. c and jtn)

scott pl. (scott pl.), Monday, 2 June 2003 02:35 (twenty-one years ago)

So far...

Radio 4 -- even hatas can raise interest. After checking a copule of mp3s, I got their debut and think it is pretty good.

Isis -- good band, don't have a clue what the singer is saying but that is OK.

Sleep -- marginal, but I don't own a bong. I was curious about them, but some posts on ILM got me to check a record.

Rye Coalition -- they are not a mindblowing band but I like the "On Top" record. The lyrics are a bit dorky, but the guitars and drums are solid. I'd like to see this band and Isis live.

I read alot of the posts about electronic, hiphop and pop music, but have overdosed on synthy music and I don't want to hear any new groups or records for awhile. I'm back onto loud ugly guitars and big drums these days.

earlnash, Monday, 2 June 2003 03:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Yay all the MBV mentions. ;-) Well, I just grabbed all those Passage reissues thanks to that thread that keeps returning and all the enthusiasm expressed on it, so clearly them. There are others.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Monday, 2 June 2003 03:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh loads of stuff. Certainly here keeps me informed about DFA style, and probably about dance alot too.

Ronan (Ronan), Monday, 2 June 2003 10:23 (twenty-one years ago)

stack waddy!!!

your null fame (yournullfame), Monday, 2 June 2003 10:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Emperor/Immortal

M Carty (mj_c), Monday, 2 June 2003 11:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Lots of stuff...it's hard to remember now what I started liking on my own and what I started liking because of ILM/ILE recs. The Rapture (though I keep thinking it should be spelled the Ratpure now) is definitely a great and recent example of this. And I bought the Foxgloves single this weekend.

Nicole (Nicole), Monday, 2 June 2003 11:52 (twenty-one years ago)

ABC & Dexy's.

William Bloody Swygart (mrswygart), Monday, 2 June 2003 11:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Manitoba, The Streets and Mark Hollis come to mind.

Sean@tangmonkey (Sean M), Monday, 2 June 2003 11:56 (twenty-one years ago)

Dizzy Rascal, Luomo, Archigram, Akufen, The Clientele, Disco Inferno, Xinlisupreme... off the top of my head.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 2 June 2003 12:30 (twenty-one years ago)

Definitely Disco Inferno/Bark Psychosis/Seefeel etc. Also, Kevin Drumm, Absu, and even Daft Punk/Avalanches too; funny enough. (didn't pay DP much mind in the past)

original bgm, Monday, 2 June 2003 13:24 (twenty-one years ago)

I didn't really like Basement Jaxx until I came here. Since then Rooty's become one of my favorite albums.

adam west (adamwest), Monday, 2 June 2003 13:46 (twenty-one years ago)

I found it on ILM

Tha m-f Streets!@@@!

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Monday, 2 June 2003 13:52 (twenty-one years ago)

btw, since Absu was mentioned already, where should I go after Tara? I really have to put forth an effort NOT to listen to that when I drive because I was completely addicted to it for a few weeks and am now afraid that I will kill the album if I keep it up.
