Inspired by the news item I read some time ago, which stated that some people have played "Another One Bites the Dust" and "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go" at funerals.

'Days in the wake'- Palaca Brothers.
Playing while everyone is arriving.

'4 Violins' Tony Conrad.
No sermons, eulogies or flowers. Just my family and friends having to listen to this all the way through.

'I see a darkness' - Bonny Prince Billy (Whole album, not just the track)
Playing while everyone is leaving.

neil, Friday, 27 June 2003 11:50 (twenty-two years ago)

Boo Radleys "Lazarus" (despite the biblical reference, it is my most favourite song)
Tom Waits "Good Old World (Waltz)" - it's fitting and sad and it makes people cry.

"Spinal Meningitis" - Ween

Steve Gertz (sgertz), Saturday, 19 March 2005 00:31 (twenty-one years ago)

twelve years pass...

"I Believe in You" - Talk Talk. I am getting more and more obsessed by this song. Somehow it seems just perfect for a funeral as people listen so attentively and this song is so rich with so much love to detail. Additionally it must sound great in a church. With a real choir if possible. I'd like to see the faces of the people at my funeral when they listen to it.

Ich bin kein Berliner (alex in mainhattan), Sunday, 3 September 2017 17:03 (eight years ago)

Coil - Fire of The Mind. Some brought to tears by the sentiment of the song. Other brought to tears by memories of me boring them to tears going on about Coil. The way Balance sings "Holy, holy" as the electronics churn around him really does sound like the ascension of a soul.

Dan.S., Sunday, 3 September 2017 17:55 (eight years ago)
