Sarai = S'alright, pretty tight.

In terms of white female rappers from NYC, howevah:

Princess Superstar (way) > Sarai (way) > Northern State

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

Sarai's got a good sense of humor and a nice supple rhythm and cadence, and I do quite like what I've heard so far.

Princess Superstar is one of my favorite rappers regardless of gender, race, etc.; her delivery is damned-near-flawless and her lyrics are just the right blend of silly and straight-up, explorative and traditional.

Northern State make me laugh when I'm drunk. I haven't listened to them not drunk and enjoyed it yet though.

I hated how they tried to refer to Princess Superstar as "the female Eminem" aka "Feminem" (going back a few YEARS now actually), and I don't like it anymore now that they're attaching this stigma to Sarai. Kinda bogus if you ask me.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 17:02 (twenty-two years ago)

it's like they're beggin her to fail by calling her "Feminem" or "the Real Slim Lady"
but, uh, what did you expect?
there's a big AP story out today about her that sort of seems like the dude (or dudelle) who wrote thinks they know what they're talking about, but really proves otherwise.

Horace Mann (Horace Mann), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 17:07 (twenty-two years ago)

actually, I think Chuck's reckless comment had something to do with Eddie Cochran and Nik Cohn's Rock From the Beginning (which I've still never tracked down, darnit).
