help me make a 6-7 cdr history of garage ("Spin Spin Sugar (Armand's Dark Garage mix)" to present)

after the success of these with m4rc3l, I've been meaning to do the same for garage. problem is, haven't had computer access (have mp3 cdrs &c) + I haven't been quite as inundated with the stuff (+ I've been listening to it as it's been happening, so I don't have the same sort of neat archival pidgeonholing that I had w/'ardkore/jungle).

anyway, fishing for general tracklistings & so on here. figure things start with the AvH remix of the Sneaker Pimps' "Spin Spin Sugar" (when did Todd Edwards start making his mark, though?), & continue through to the current grime/etc.

here's the pre-grime (though I've probably left the borders a bit blurry in terms of 2002 stuff I have/have't included)

key tracks

Oxide & Neutrino - "Up Middle Finger"

Mantra - "Away (Todd Edwards remix)"

Sticky ft Ms Dynamite - "Booo!"

Sneaker Pimps - "Spin Spin Sugar (Armand's Dark Garage mix)"

Zed Bias - "Neighbourhood"

Dem 2 - "Destiny"

Shanks & Bigfoot - "Sweet Like Chocolate"

everything else

Zed Bias - "Jigga Up (Ring The Alarm)"

All Saints - "Black Coffee (Wideboyz Expresso remix)"

Oxide & Neutrino - "Bound 4 Da Reload"

2 Banks Of 4 - "A Hook & A Line (Zed Bias remix)"

Sweet Female Attitude - "Flowers"

Azzido Da Bass - "Dooms Night (Timo Maas remix)"

Wookie - "Battle"

Genius Kru - "Boom Selection"

Junior Boys - "Last Exit"

Monsta Boy - "Sorry"

Artful Dodger ft Craig David - "Rewind"

James Lavonz - "Mash Up Da Venue"

Sticky ft Lady Stush - "Dollar Sign"

Sticky ft Tubby T - "Tales Of The Hood"

Sticky - "More Weed!"

M Dubs ft Lady Saw - "Bump'n'Grind"

Amira - "My Desire (Dreem Teem remix)"

Artful Dodger - "Ruff Neck Sound (Basement remix)"

B-15 Project ft Crissy D & Lady G - "Girls Like Us"

Daniel Bedingfield - "Gotta Get Through This (DND vocal mix)"

Gant - Sound Bwoy Burial (187 Lockdown mix)"

187 Lockdown - "Gunman"

David Howard - "U & I"

London Dodgers - "Down Down Bizzniz"

Laid Blak - "Scream & Shout"

Genius Kru - "Course Bruv"

Valerie M - "Tingles 2000 (Artful Dodger mix)" *

Y-Tribe - "Enough Is Enough"

So Solid Crew - "21 Seconds"

Platinum 45 & More Fire Crew - "Oi!"

MJ Cole - "Sincere (Y2K Dub)"

Horsepower Productions - "Fists Of Fury"

Richie Boy - "Madness On The Street"

Doolally - "Straight From The Heart"

Artful Dodger - "Woman Trouble (Wideboyz Mix)"

Mis-Teeq - "One Night Stand (Sunship remix)"

Goldie ft KRS One - "Digital (Armand van Helden's mix)"

DJ Pied Piper - "Do You Really Like It?"

Indo - "R U Sleeping?"

Big Daddi Turbo ft Erik B & Rakim - "I Know You Got Soul"

Genaside II - "Narra Mine (Armand van Helden remix)"

Suburban Lick - "Here Comes The Lick"

that Ed Case remix of the big Blurrilaz single

some of these tracks should probably be present in remix form (otherwise how are Tuff Jam & Bump'n'Flex gonna get in? + I want more DND stuff). um dj luck & mc neat, glamma kid (sweetie irie!), that "Gabriel" track, some more So Solid ("Oh No" or "Dilemma" or "They Don't Know"?), that remake of "Let Me Be Your Fantasy", some remixes of US r'n'b, um . . . which Streets track(s) should I include? a remix? I've sent m4rc3l a tape of OPM, so maybe "Got All Our Runnins"? & where do Basement Jaxx fit into this? there's the Stanton Warriors remix of "Jump'n'Shout", but what else? one of the "Fly Life" remixes?
um & I guess Darqwan should be on there somewhere, but I can never tell a lot of that Bingo Beats stuff apart (despite having listened to BB2 quite a bit).

(is it DJ Pooch's "Let The Bass Roll" or Gat Decor's "Passion" (or possibly something else from my Speed Garage In Ibiza tapes) that uses the same sample (Lafayette Afro-Rock Band's "Darkest Light") as Dance Conspiracy's "Dub War"?)

* only have an .wma of this, could never find the mp3. also, does anyone know what filename the "unidentified Whitney bootleg" usually turns up as?

Ess Kay (esskay), Monday, 4 August 2003 03:17 (twenty-two years ago)

crap, meant to kill the linebreaks.

anyway - what blinding oversights have I made, & haha anyone want to put this in order for me?

Ess Kay (esskay), Monday, 4 August 2003 03:20 (twenty-two years ago)

Edwards began making his mark a couple years earlier than that with his remixes of St. Germain's "Alabama Blues" (dub and vocal). Start there.

gaz (gaz), Monday, 4 August 2003 04:36 (twenty-two years ago)

He's working on the 'Hulkington' rhythmn and associated 'Strongo dance' right now.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 4 August 2003 06:28 (twenty-two years ago)

In terms of suggestions:

M-Dubs - For Real
Sunship - Try Me Out (Let Me Lick It)
Richie Dan - Call It Fate (Underground Mix)
Matt Darey - Beautiful (Dubaholics Dub)
Kavana - Will You Wait For Me (Shanks & Bigfoot Mix)
Jocelyn Brown - Somebody Else's Guy (Stanton Warriors Mix)
Stanton Warriors - Determined (if you can find it - and if you can please send it to me!)
Hakan Lidbo - Walk Away (Todd Edwards Remix)
New Horizons - Find The Path (best speed garage track ever!)
Chris Mac - Set Me Off
Cleptomaniacs - All I Do (Bump & Flex Dancehall Dub)
United Grooves Collective ft. God's Gift - Mic Tribute (UGC Mix)
D'N'D - Pick It Up (Remix)
TNT - Easy Lovin' You (Original Mix)
Suburban Lick - You're Mine (2001 Remix)
TJ Cases - I Like To Cut, I Like TO Play
El-B - Serious (Zed Bias Remix)

The Darqwan track of choice is "Nocturnal" or (as Oris Jay) "Biggin' Up Da Massive". I prefer the Sovereign mix of "Do You Really Like It" to the original by far.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 4 August 2003 06:53 (twenty-two years ago)

Of course those are all just personal faves rather than necessary inclusions. Your original list is pretty excellent already Ess (as are heaps of Jess's picks).

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 4 August 2003 07:04 (twenty-two years ago)

basement jaxx wise - "camberwell".

toby (tsg20), Monday, 4 August 2003 08:32 (twenty-two years ago)

you really should include

Naughty - Pussy (Remix)
Mutiny - The Virus (El-B Remix)
New Flesh - Stick & Move (Horsepower Productions Vocal Mix)
Roots Manuva - Dreamy Days (MJ Cole Vocal Mix)
Mys Dynamite - Ramp

and i'm at work but i'll come up with more later

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:42 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, i think the darqwan track shld be "as we enta"

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:50 (twenty-two years ago)

OH MY GOD I'd forgotten all about Sweet Female Attitude with their budgie perch earrings and clothes from the market.

There was another really big garridge tune around at about the same time that I've now got stuck in my head - "ooh, you're movin' too fast, and I don't think it's right, I'm not givin' you my love tonight..." - who was it by?

j0e (j0e), Monday, 4 August 2003 09:58 (twenty-two years ago)

that was Artful Dodger & Romina Johnson

stevem (blueski), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:03 (twenty-two years ago)

ta - thats the one. and a real painting and decorating song it was too

j0e (j0e), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Ed Case feat. Ms Dynamite - Deal With The Matter (really, really essential)
Beverley Knight - Get Up (So Solid remix)
So Solid Crew - Oh No (Sentimental Things)

The Lex (The Lex), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:04 (twenty-two years ago)

so solid - dilemma (and essential precursor to all the 8-bar/grime stuff - still one of the sickest minimal garage records ever)

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:06 (twenty-two years ago)

add Myron 'We Can Get Down' - very light and smooth but the bassline is incredibly subtle but deep

add Loop Da Loop (i think) mix of Todd Terry's 'Something Goin On In Your Soul'

stevem (blueski), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:07 (twenty-two years ago)

had Doolally's 'Straight From The Heart' been mentioned already?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:08 (twenty-two years ago)

basment jaxx, horsepower and stanton warriors don't get included on my list, i don't really see the connection.
but bloody comprehensive lists all the same, i don't know the names of anything much but there's a few you've left out and a few i wouldn't include.

never gonna let you go sounds like a good starting point, it's when i started paying attention, although certain -ahead of the curve- mates had been listening to garage for about a year before that dropped, also it goes hand in hand with that rosie gaines remix whatever its called and whoever its by.

maxwell d-serious
maxwell d and b-live-ultimate warriors
da click-good rimes
richie dan-over here (top of the stamina daddy league)
actually that flat eric tune used to get rinsed in the clubs
pay as u go-can't ride mic like me, can't ride mic like 'pay as u go'

right before my eyes (who's it by? i dunno)
brasstooth-that one about being positive whatever its called
the remix of that house track about that woman who works really hard in her 9.2.5 but now shes going to have a whale of a time with all that 'vocal science' stuff, i really liked that one
plus all the millions of bootlegs of R&B stars.

it's worth mentioning that befre so solid there was supreeme team and heartless crew. they might not have been releasing tracks but both HUUUUGELY influential. heartless were revered in east london from about 98 and both were largely responsible for making people step up their lyrics, shifting the focus from the djs to the MCs.

as far as recent stuff, here's a few...

harry toddler/wiley-donkey kick
wiley-ice rink/icy mountain/igloo/blizzard/eskimo/you just don't get it
rapid-pied piper
skepta-gunshot
shark major-ain't a game
d.e.e-organise
stormin-day by day/everywhere i go
nasty crew-take you out/good ya know/
jammer-step to the beat
the ends-are you really from the ends
demon-armshouse
east co.-we're ready/run gums/nuttin' wid dem
mukateers-we hot
maxwell d-lyrical warfare
lady fury-merke dem
roll deep-with my crew/bounce/regular/love/pick yourself up/you were always
ruff squad-tings in boots
sticky-more weed/things we do
general LOK-thts what it is
boyz in da hood-real gangstas
wizzbit-jam hot/poppadoms
geeneus-earth warrior
dizzee-everything he's ever done
diamond clik-don't ya know
jammer-battlefield/feedback
donaeo-bounce
heartless-why? (sticky refit)

thats just off the top of my head without even trying to catch the things on the tip of my tongue, loads i don't know the names of, instrumental ones i can't even make uo names for, you could fill about 20 CDs, with no filler, and thats just with offical releases not even taking bootlegs and dubs into account. theres too much, i'm not even including crews from west, north and south really either so...

luka vandross, Monday, 4 August 2003 10:11 (twenty-two years ago)

actually that flat eric tune used to get rinsed in the clubs

mr oizo - flat beat...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:13 (twenty-two years ago)

luka - you are the only person i have ever seen reference jam hot by wizzbit - it's a f***in' pearler and i love u for knowing i!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

luka - you are the only person i have ever seen reference jam hot by wizzbit - it's a f***in' pearler and i love u for knowing it!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:17 (twenty-two years ago)

aw dave, everyone knows that, Mcdougall's mentioned it i'm sure, it even came free with the magazine you're involved with so it's hardly obscure...

now why don't you name some more wookie tunes!
and ultimate warriors was made by viper and maxwell now i come to think about it, not b-live.
and dave, whats the opint of having a blog you don't update, you might as well get rid of it and just tell me stuff about garage to put on my blog instead.

luka v, Monday, 4 August 2003 10:21 (twenty-two years ago)

what mag was that - i don't remember it!
every time i mention it to people, they're like "duh, what?"!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:22 (twenty-two years ago)

i thought deuce had something to do with you, no?

luka v, Monday, 4 August 2003 10:24 (twenty-two years ago)

i've been away a bit and am going to resurrect the blog - i miss doing it but life's kinda got in the way a little lately... only a little bit to do with me not much - aint written anything for them for a good while!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Is it the remix of "Jam Hot" that's just pure Indian sparkle riffs? Love that on the Nasty Hot realaudio set.

"Are You Relly From The Ends" is like the two-years-too-late absolute apotheosis of my idea of "midnight dancehall" circa beginning of '01 (inspired by "Boo!" and "All I Do (Bump & Flex Dancehall Dub)" if I recall) - that sexy syncopated break! The bass! Love it to the bone.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:33 (twenty-two years ago)

forgot Sisqo - "Thong Song (Artful Dodger remix)"!
& didn't know Heartless Crew were so uh venerable - was going to include "Heartless Theme" & their Sean Paul remix among the more recent stuff.

Ess Kay (esskay), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:34 (twenty-two years ago)

"the remix of that house track about that woman who works really hard in her 9.2.5 but now shes going to have a whale of a time with all that 'vocal science' stuff, i really liked that one":

That's either Architech's "Bodygroove" or the one that opens the second disc of Pure Garage III - is it a Y-Tribe track?

Also:
Bump & Flex - Got Myself Together
Wookie - Down On Me
Dreem Teem vs Neneh Cherry - Buddy X (the real bad-ass metallic version speed garage version Pure Silk: The Third Dimension
Doolally - Straight From The Heart (Bump & Flex Hardstep Dub)

Stanton Warriors were being played by all the garage djs up until the end of 2000 - this was not that odd because they were basically making garage tunes. Their later stuff is breaksy and usually boring. Likewise Horsepower Productions earlier stuff ("Gorgon Sound", "Fists Of Fury") is a very straightforward extension of the Dem 2/El-B continuum.

Speaking of which, there needs to be El-B! How about his mix of Dane Bowers' "Shut Up And Forget About It"? Or his mix of Monie Love's "Slice of Da Pie"?

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

def more Wookiee - esp. 'Scrappy' and his Soul II Soul remix

stevem (blueski), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:38 (twenty-two years ago)

meh since ingram put 'jam hot' on his detroit mix i think it was i havent really wanted to hear it again, put all sorts of delibidinzing continuums in my head... heh heh i remember when it came out everyone was like 'wizzbit (WILEY)'

luka lists a lot of nice records but in this canonical context one really stands out, ruff squad's 'tings in boots' absolutely awesome track, one of the records of the year in fact, so suffused with pure brutal grimy gride it's like reynolds produced it. pied piper is great too but i'll wait til i hear the vocal. they got this cold majesty vibe that so nailed it 'grime' was over to me ever since

Chip Morningstar (bob), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:51 (twenty-two years ago)

cold balletic majesty at that

Chip Morningstar (bob), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:52 (twenty-two years ago)

asylum mix of craig david 'rendezvous'?
theres been mention of bump and flex but people!

its got to be 'promises'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ambrose (ambrose), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:55 (twenty-two years ago)

and er continua not continuums, SHEESH!

Chip Morningstar (bob), Monday, 4 August 2003 10:57 (twenty-two years ago)

horsepower productions have always been one of those crews you either like and are able to draw connections with or not. it's pretty widely known that i like them a lot and can suss where they fit in, but it's more about actually wanting to and i totally understand people not liking them for all the reasons simon reynolds so vociferously states! fair dos, whether they like it or not, they are intelligent garage, microgarage, dubstep (a term that was rather forced upon me by an errant editor when i was writing abt them, but hey if the cap fits) but they make great records and they are part of this whole thing - you can't leave them out...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 4 August 2003 11:00 (twenty-two years ago)

don't fret the semantics this early on a monday chip - i'm on my fifth cup of coffee and am only really just waking up...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 4 August 2003 11:01 (twenty-two years ago)

did you watch that tape yet dave?

stevem (blueski), Monday, 4 August 2003 11:12 (twenty-two years ago)

no that's on the menu tonight - got it copied tho so flip me yr address by email and i'll post it back to ya - thx a lot for that again mate...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 4 August 2003 11:15 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah, scrappy, thats it!

i was in NZ, 1999-2001, so my knowledge of those years is pretty vague, dunno how ess kay manages it really. i didn't have a computer there though, i guess that helps...

ok, i'm a very happy bunny right now because i've been listening to a nasty crew tape from early 2002, to jolt my memory, so i can show off in front of you lot better and it turned out to be something i never even knew i had. it's the first time nasty crew played i luv u on radio, it's also got nasty crew spitting over jungle right at the end AND the biggest suprise of all, dizzee himself makes an appearance! i did have another even better dizzee/nasty crew session but i lost it. reynolds has got a copy still.

ok, a few essentials i forgot

jookiemundo-mcs think that they are so heavy. but we know that they are not ready.
yup that one, jookie is brilliant. he's the one that formed east co. he's also a promoter, he does stampede among other things. he's also a bit of a fat boy.

musical mobb-pulse x.
sticky/tubby t-tales from the hood
highly flamable-ready 2 rumble

HARRY LIME! how i forgot him i don't know. if anyone want to tell the story of grime harry limes name HAS to be in there. totally essential.

and a question... i still don't have dizzee's album, my sister's getting it for my birthday, so i was wondering whether this track is on it

oh, he said this and, oh, she said that and, oh dizzee did this and-what you talking abaat, certain boyz need to hush up their maaat!

best dizzee track EVER!

luka v, Monday, 4 August 2003 11:53 (twenty-two years ago)

every big name in east london garage has a version of pied piper. i like stormin's one a lot. there's also an armour version over a riddim a lot like pied piper, again by rapid, but even more glacial and beautiful, dunno what it is though, i'm useless!

LUKA V, Monday, 4 August 2003 11:55 (twenty-two years ago)

The Greatness and Perfection of ILM, y'know

Andrew Thames (Andrew Thames), Monday, 4 August 2003 12:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Ben Williams, Monday, 4 August 2003 12:18 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah pulse x has got to be on there. SSC 'dilemma'?????/

that 'mcs think that they are so heavy' tune is wicked. i always have that running around in my head. i thought it was just east connection.

some others that i havent noticed mentioned here:

east connection 'why?'
genius cru 'course bruv'
blackout 'mr dj' (i totally made up the name of who this is by)
mistery men 'shake it'
david anthony 'friday night'

and the ladiez:

lady fevah 'battlecry (chopper mix)'
lady stush 'dollar sign' (doh!)

ambrose (ambrose), Monday, 4 August 2003 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah luka there's a superior unadorned riddim on the back of the tings in boots 12, might be that, has a really elegiac erose martial string thing. gwan to pick up pied piper today

Chip Morningstar (bob), Monday, 4 August 2003 12:29 (twenty-two years ago)

Stone Cold - Groove chronicles!!!

How did i forget this!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Monday, 4 August 2003 12:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Damn, this thread makes me feel outta step. I really love 'Woman Trouble'-Artful Dodger feat. Robbie Craig and Craig David and I'm also pretty big on the Sweet Female Attitude track.

Barima (Barima), Monday, 4 August 2003 13:11 (twenty-two years ago)

new brand flex-ghetto life
yeah, women trouble was nice, we need some more robbie craig now too

shall we have a competition? again in the hope of showing off i listened to another even earlier tape but realised i didn't have a clue what anything was called. so whoever can identify the most tracks from my shit clues gets the jammer birthday tape featuring ruff squad, wiley, dizzee, esco, nasty crew, crazy titch, jammer and others.
ha! ready?

1)eh eh what you gone do, eh eh what you gone say? drop the bomb drop the bass.

2)mic-ro-ph-ne bad to the bo-ne-e

3)will it be like this forever have i got no time to waste
its just names and numbers that are filling up my day

4)baby i can give to ya, a man like me (xylophone comes in now)

5)oooh i need you so bad baybi
ooh ooh and i need you so bad baby (this tune is BIG!)

6)keep dancing like a snake, like snake (never liked this one much)

7)burning burning
let the mu-sic
burning burning
deep inside

8)mariah carey sped up, one sided vinyl like reynolds was complaining about, but from about 99
i am thinking of you...if it's wrong to love you...cos i'm drowning in you... (loved this one, helium vocals do it for me everytime)

9)i can tell by the way that you're breathing
i can tell you love me as much as i do
it's the way you move you're killing me

well, i have no idea how i'm going to determine a winner when i don't know what the answers are myself but anyway, something to do innit, surely i'm not the only unemployed person here...

luka v, Monday, 4 August 2003 13:22 (twenty-two years ago)

and can we make it a rule that no one is allowed to mention the term
vocal science
without namechecking my all time favourite record
lisa lisa & cult jam
'i wonder if i take you home'

Luka Dandruff, Monday, 4 August 2003 13:57 (twenty-two years ago)

oh, and 6) is es dubs - standard hoodlum issue - zed bias mix; his breakout tune. it's "reflex action like a snake" though.

send me an email anyway, let me know when you'll be here.

it's my birthday soon so i'll have a bit of money, i want to send a few more tapes out then too, it's the tdks i can't afford, the postage is no trouble.

yeah, reflex action like a snake, you're quite right. i know nuffink.

and to the person who mentioned the pied piper bside, nah, not that one, the one i'm talking about sounds like pied piper, but just far more
baroque

i don't understand this thread, is this just a list of every UKG tune ever?

*baffled*

martin (martin), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 23:11 (twenty-two years ago)

what I wouldn't give for someone to make an MP3 disc or two of all this stuff (haha musical gigantism + sheer fucking greed rears its collective ugly head, big surprise matos!)

M Matos (M Matos), Tuesday, 5 August 2003 23:38 (twenty-two years ago)

-i don't understand this thread, is this just a list of every UKG tune ever?-

naaah, just the really good ones!
and it never really even got started...

luka v, Wednesday, 6 August 2003 06:30 (twenty-two years ago)

well like, fuck. everybody I kiss you.

hopefully I'll have access to a computer (AND broadband/etc) in the next week & a bit, so I can start d/l-ing & sifting through & compiling something (might try to go for a mega-huge history - been listening to all my cheap cashin compilations* - Agia Napa Fantasy Island & Speed Garage Anthems & Speed Garage Anthems In Ibiza & Silk Cuts In Session & Re-rewind : The Artful Dodger etc etc & Ayia Napa 2000 : Shanks & Bigfoot present & Pure Silk In Ayia Napa & so on, & I can't believe how much of it I know/love (or own!))

If I do manage it, I'll post the tracklisting, see what people think. (matos you may get yr wish, etc)

*NZ got bit by the garage bug, but not the culture, so there's heaps heaps HEAPS of cheap compilations @ the Warehouse & stuff because nobody was listening around the time So Solid Crew were changing the game.

Ess Kay (esskay), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 10:22 (twenty-two years ago)

well, most of my garage being on vinyl, you can mark me down for an MP3 cd or two if you like!

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 10:28 (twenty-two years ago)

I've just read this whole thredd in one, what a splendid trip down 1997-99 memory lane!

Tina Moore!
Roy Davis Jnr!
Sweet Female flippin' Attitude!
Shanks & bastard Bigfoot!

Wondrous.

I though, by some attack of madness, that nobody'd mentioned 187 Lockdown's mighty "Gunman"...but closer inspection reveals it's there, right near the top.

Nothing more to add.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 12:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh, except...if "Dooms Night" counts, then perhaps Kernkraft 400's "Zombie Nation" should get a look-in too, not only cos it's fucking ace but also cos it's one of my favourite TOTP performances evah.

CharlieNo4 (Charlie), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 12:22 (twenty-two years ago)

the DKNY remix of Another Level's "Summertime" def. deserves a mention...

Michael B, Wednesday, 6 August 2003 12:32 (twenty-two years ago)

i never heard this at garage clubs...

Dave Stelfox (Dave Stelfox), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 12:45 (twenty-two years ago)

i should add that i'm on a mission at the moment to rip a buncha old tape packs (early 2000 and before) to digital format and then put those on cds. i will then let people paypal me for them so as to cover my costs, because i'm a cheap bastard.

surprisingly, though, a bunch of the djs sound absolute shit, i mean terrible, like masterstepz sounds like he never learned about eq knobs. all the djs play the same tunes, too. there is an absolute STOMPER of a ramsey set on the sun city '00 pack, though, the tunes are good enough that you don't care about the mixing.

cooper (cooper), Wednesday, 6 August 2003 16:26 (twenty-two years ago)

yeah masterstepz is a bit of a gash dj.

ez though, hes pretty fucking good, from what i've heard (ie not much)

ambrose (ambrose), Friday, 8 August 2003 10:41 (twenty-two years ago)
