what do matchbox twenty have that every other current commercial pop act apparently doesn't have? are there matchbox twenty fans here? is there anyone who honestly thought, five or six years ago, that they'd still be around today and be so damn viable? do 13-year-old jay-z and beyonce fans flip to another station everytime "unwell" comes across the top-4o airwaves, or do even they like the song? what exactly is going on here?

So, the current #1 and #2 on the Hot 100 are fun.'s "We Are Young" and Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know."
Interestingly, both songs are also at the top of the Billboard "Rock Songs" chart this week, only with the positions reversed.
As far as I can tell, the last time that #1 and #2 on the Hot 100 were both "rock" songs -- i.e., they also charted on at least one of Billboard's several rock singles charts -- was the week of July 22, 2000:
1. Matchbox Twenty, "Bent"2. Vertical Horizon, "Everything You Want"

The only song in the top ten on the r&b chart at all is Bieber's at #75. This is why pop music in 2012 is terrible.

Tbh, I can't remember the last time there were two songs in the top 10 that I liked as much as I do "Somebody That I Used to Know" and "Call Me Maybe."
