Disco-songs by rock/indie bands

I might have a somewhat loose definition of disco here, so beware the grue.

XTC - Helicopter
Modest Mouse - Tiny Cities Made Of Ashes
Estradasphere - The Bounty Hunter (at least parts of it, particularly towards the end when it goes all bun on us; hell, maybe that's closer to some crap like rhumba than disco; what do I know)

There's a certain obscure disco-vibe to Magma's Lirik Necronomicus Kant from Attahk, and I've ben told the "Merci" album goes further in such directions.

I was tempted to once again plug Sparks once again, but I guess they just turned into a disco-band, rather than actually doing a few songs within the genre.

Marillion's "Assassin" and Bowie's "The Secret Life of Arabia". These aren't disco songs at all but they certainly have the vibe.

I suppose you could add a whole number of Roxy Music tunes as well.

"Kick in the eye" by Bauhaus sounds kind of disco to me.

Yeah I was going to say Roxy's "Love is a Drug." Of course they had a lot more dico-y songs on 'Manifesto,' but when 'Siren' came out they were pretty much a rock band.

They Might Be Giants have a disco version of "Hotel Detective" that is fucking BITCHIN. I think it's a b-side on the single for that song or something.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Wednesday, 15 October 2003 17:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't "You Can Have It All'" by Yo La Tengo off And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out a cover of a disco song? This would be indie-rock/disco in the strict sense...that album also has a song called "The Last Days of Disco" so maybe it was a theme or something.
