...did a search and found nothing on this damn board about this almost forgotten 1987 beauty by the close lobsters. as much i as i like 'headache rhetoric' this is still a desert island disc for me.

the only thing I ever heard was the single, "Let's Make Some Plans," but I liked it.

I like Headache Rhetoric a little more.

Recently found this album used -- enjoyable but I'd have to listen to it again to make any more of a decision on it. I suspect a lot of us first heard of this band via the Weddoes cover of "Let's Make Some Plans."

Small amount of talk, previously, here.

i love the urgency in the singer's voice, as if he's singing the most important lyrics ever written when mostly he's singing silly nonsense. it's like if echo and the bunnymen made cotton candy pop songs. foxheads is better than headache rhetoric which is a bit too refined but skyscrapers is genius. the best deal is the cd that has both albums on it.

oh man, the close lobsters! one of my favourite records-i-dont-own is 'i'm going to heaven to see if it rains', i think it was a single, i taped it off peel years ago and have never seen or heard of a copy since. does this really exist then? somebody must know...

'foxheads' is a great album, i haven't heard it for ages, but i loved their noisy melodies. it sounded amazing at the time, and i keep a fond memory of it.

I used to have Foxheads but it's now missing- I loved it. I went through my vinyl and found a six song ep with 'Let's make some plans', it's a great record.

wow, i haven't thought about this record in a long time but i've held onto it for years. i'm gonna give it a spin tonight. it rules.

a fine call - it's fantastic stuff, and "foxheads" "i take bribes" and "in spite of these times" are a wonderful trilogy of songs - i thought "headache" was a bit too heavy and american-ish though... there are some fantastic songs on the singles too - "from this day on" from "let's make" is ace and also of course "i'm going to heaven to see if it rains" (it does indeed exist zappi - all 3 tracks on the 12" are great) and "never seen before" are jangle made beautiful.
