Having recently seen the Warlords of Pez perform their rock opera about Baby John Candy being left home alone for Christmas only to then have horrible things done to him by the bad Transformers, I feel that it is high time we discussed the Rock Opera genre.

Search :

Tommy (the film)
Pretty Things - SF Sorrow
Magma - Theusz Haamtahk trilogy

Destroy :

Tommy (the album)
Jeff Wayne - War Of The Worlds
that Queensryche one
that Dream Theater one
anything by Rick Wakeman

What exactly is the difference between a rock opera, a concept album and a musical? It's a difficult call.

Does Prince Paul's "A Prince Among Thieves" count? Search!
I'd say also Mr. Quark's Enjoy Nuoc-Mam with Mr. Quark, but, uh, conflict of interest forbids.
And how about WCKR SPGT's A Tea Party of Love?

I'm thinking maybe the rock opera is performed onstage, with the people in the band taking all the roles.
