Notes: None of the above will make my top ten this year. Lots of them, in fact, are apparently not even FROM this year, as they either date back to 2002 or date back to 2004. (Who can keep track anymore?) The one most likely to make my 2004 top ten is probably the Living Things album, followed by the Mekons, bizarrely enough. Or maybe Chromeo, who knows. But my very favorite CD of all above is probably the first disc of the Marseilles best-of; disc two is a lot worse.

Oops, shit, accidentally left off this:

alice cooper (new album - his best since *flush the fashion*)

and probably some other stuff, since i usually do.

No Killing Joke? No Firewater? No Calexico? Yet Kid Rock and Pink get mentioned?

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Tuesday, 30 December 2003 23:51 (twenty-one years ago)

I like the Calexico album, but I think I listed it, um, about six or seven lists ago. But yeah, Kid Rock & Pink > Killing Joke & Firewater for sure. (Or anything Killing Joke's done since 1981, at least.)

Also, I spelled Marseille wrong. Here's the album I'm referring to:

Fuckin' hell, I remember Marseille! Although I had, before this moment, forgotten they ever existed. Chuck, do you like Nutz too?

udu wudu (udu wudu), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 01:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I hadn't even heard about that Mekons thing. RFI?

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 01:45 (twenty-one years ago)

I forget if I ever heard Nutz. I believe I do have two vinyl albums by No Dice at home, though, if those count. Which they probably don't.
(Do Nutz fit into the old Godz/Boyz/Cigaretz "all bands that end with z were primarily listened to by bikers" rule? I really need to know.)

Also, I forget what "RFI" means, but here is a link to the Mekons' *Punk Rock*, which may or may not be their best album in 19 years:

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=UIDCASS80311061622542118&sql=A1ifqoaqawijp

chuck, Wednesday, 31 December 2003 02:00 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think Nutz were listened to much by bikers, or indeed anyone at all. They released an album called "Nutz Live Cutz".

udu wudu (udu wudu), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 02:11 (twenty-one years ago)

The Mekons record is, indeed, very good. I was surprised when it arrived at my desk. I was even more surprised when I actually listened to it.

Christian Rawk (Christian Rawk), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 02:13 (twenty-one years ago)

RFI = request for information

Thanks for the link.

Johnny Fever (johnny fever), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 02:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Two more albums I forgot to list up there at the top of the thread:

nightfist
*crunk and disorderly*

(i was actually keeping a list of these in a little notebook. maybe i lost a page of it or something.)

chuck, Wednesday, 31 December 2003 03:31 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh goodness. Please don't say Chromeo. Please.

cybele (cybele), Wednesday, 31 December 2003 03:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Kid Rock & Pink > Killing Joke & Firewater for sure. (Or anything Killing Joke's done since 1981, at least.)

You're well high, and if I ruled the land, you'd be blindfolded and against the wall at dawn.
