Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:05 (twenty-two years ago)

steely dan

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:07 (twenty-two years ago)

he wants something smooth he can play around the mansion but with a "dark" undercurrent

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

maybe some Dan the Automater, then?

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:10 (twenty-two years ago)

clearly the obvious answer is prince

strongo hulkington (dubplatestyle), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:13 (twenty-two years ago)

prince paul?

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:16 (twenty-two years ago)

I'd imagine he listens to a lot of Leonard Cohen.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:17 (twenty-two years ago)

but he also likes to be around teenagers, so I would think that sometimes he grooves on the new Hilary Duff too.

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:19 (twenty-two years ago)

Bauhaus-"Gotham" obv.

Onimo (GerryNemo), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:23 (twenty-two years ago)

Charles Mingus, The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady

J (Jay), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:24 (twenty-two years ago)

who recorded "the Batusi"?

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:25 (twenty-two years ago)

Someone I bet he sure as hell doesn't listen to: fuckin' PRINCE.

Actually, did anyone have this album as a youngter? Apparently, Batman likes freaky intergalactic jazz!

"Where Is The Love?" and it has got him thinking...

Jole, Friday, 6 February 2004 16:32 (twenty-two years ago)

In a recent issue of Green Lantern, the Flash says that he likes Rush, because it's "math rock."
And I always thought the Flash (the current one) was one of the few superheroes who was not a total square.

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 16:35 (twenty-two years ago)

For some reason I always thought Gotham City was stuck preptually in 1940s Americana, mostly due to the cars and then noir undercuts of it all, so I'd be hard pressed to imagine music other than jazz playing in his house.

David Allen (David Allen), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Angry Samoans

mzui, Friday, 6 February 2004 17:21 (twenty-two years ago)

Right now : Circle "Andexelt"

Before that was : Various artists "Fjord Focus" (Wire Magazine).

Before that was : Broadcast "Ha Ha Sound".

What should come next?

peepee (peepee), Friday, 6 February 2004 17:56 (twenty-two years ago)

When I last watched Batman: The Movie (the '60s one), I noticed that Neal Hefti did all the music and arrangements. So, he probably listens to The Atomic Mr. Basie, Sinatra, etc.

Also, G//Z/R 'Detective 27', 'cause it's about him, yo (I can't believe I remember that).

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:02 (twenty-two years ago)

Didn't Nelson Riddle score that movie, but using Neil Hefti's theme?

jazz odysseus, Friday, 6 February 2004 18:09 (twenty-two years ago)

he listen to the ambiguously gay duo

johnny fitz (johnny fitz), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:10 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh.....THAT Batman!

peepee (peepee), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:13 (twenty-two years ago)

Throbbing Gristle, Ennio Morricone, Wolf Eyes, A Silver Mt. Zion, The Dead C circa The White House.

Ian Johnson (orion), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:14 (twenty-two years ago)

$5 says he cranks shitty Phil Collins on his kick-ass Batmobile stereo.

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:27 (twenty-two years ago)

Oh yeah, I think you're right, jazz odysseus. But he only got the gig because his name was RIDDLE har har urgh.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:35 (twenty-two years ago)

I thought it was cuz his name was Nelson, hee hee hee!

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:36 (twenty-two years ago)

Guys, he has 4 soundtracks and scores to his name, remember? He must love Danny Elfman's work ("Do you have a dark and haunting them tune composed by Tim Burton's good buddy, Clark. Well DO you?"). Besides, he's a sophisticate. He probably digs classical and opera but he definitely doesn't enjoy any teenage music or rock'n'roll.

Barima (Barima), Friday, 6 February 2004 18:49 (twenty-two years ago)

the Flash says that he likes Rush, because it's "math rock."

You'd think the Flash would be into, like, grindcore or gabba or some high-velocity shit like that.

I guess that's the Flash for ya, though: always a few steps ahead of your expectations...

High Cholesterol (bastarda), Friday, 6 February 2004 19:04 (twenty-two years ago)

but Rush isn't really math rock, is it?

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 19:05 (twenty-two years ago)

I didn't think about that! I've never heard of anyone referring to him as "The Riddler", but maybe it will catch on. Maybe Batman listens to Nelson? If he hasn't, maybe he will if he reads this thread. Willy Nelson? I don't know.

jazz odysseus, Friday, 6 February 2004 19:08 (twenty-two years ago)

well, these guys sorta dress like Batman villains

Huckadelphia (Horace Mann), Friday, 6 February 2004 19:11 (twenty-two years ago)

They should have called themselves "Elfquest".

jazz odysseus, Friday, 6 February 2004 19:13 (twenty-two years ago)

I reassert my opinion from This Thread
"I imagine that he listens to classical in his study. Funk in his Batcave and Oi! when he's on patrol."

Lord Custos Omicron (Lord Custos Omicron), Friday, 6 February 2004 19:16 (twenty-two years ago)

Funk is not gloomy enough for the Batcave!

Shit, he probably enjoys the silence and the occasional acoustics.

Barima (Barima), Friday, 6 February 2004 19:22 (twenty-two years ago)

Those are dudes!?! Erection fading quickly.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 6 February 2004 19:24 (twenty-two years ago)

Again, I thought Adam West's Batman proved that he is down with go-go, boogaloo, 60s funk, etc. Today he probably listens to hip-hop to keep up with what the comely young lasses and lads like (besides, the Batmobile's gotta have that bass).

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 6 February 2004 19:25 (twenty-two years ago)

The Flash spends all his spare time speed-reading the novels of Ayn Rand.

"As Howard Roark was to the art of architecture, so am I to the art of moving really, really quickly," he often mumbles.

High Cholesterol (bastarda), Friday, 6 February 2004 19:26 (twenty-two years ago)

God, nick, you probably thought their names were Paris and Nicky.

Barima (Barima), Friday, 6 February 2004 19:42 (twenty-two years ago)

Batman vs. the Pied Piper

High Cholesterol (bastarda), Friday, 6 February 2004 20:09 (twenty-two years ago)

("As Howard Roark was to the art of architecture, so am I to the art of peeing on little girls," he often mumbles.)

High Cholesterol (bastarda), Friday, 6 February 2004 20:43 (twenty-two years ago)

I don't know why, but joy division came to thought. Or maybe some post-rock.

Cacaman Flores, Friday, 6 February 2004 22:04 (twenty-two years ago)

Bruce Wayne listens to Mogwai's "I am not Batman" for obvious reasons.

Leee Majors (Leee), Saturday, 7 February 2004 01:04 (twenty-two years ago)

didn't Sun Ra do a version of the Batman theme?

JaXoN (JasonD), Saturday, 7 February 2004 01:48 (twenty-two years ago)

Batman listens to nothing but Krautrock. Batman loves Neu. He loves Tangerine Dream. He loves Faust. Batman has no mojo.

Superman listens to Garth Brooks.

Spiderman - I know I'm crossing the Marvel/DC divide here - he listens to Top 10 stuff.

David Nolan (David N.), Saturday, 7 February 2004 02:18 (twenty-two years ago)

Iron Man listens to Black Sabbath, and makes the same joke every time .

jazz odysseus, Saturday, 7 February 2004 03:44 (twenty-two years ago)

there is nothing in Batman's character--any era between Bob Kane, Frank Miller, and beyond--that suggests he wouldn't be listening to Prince.

Matos W.K. (M Matos), Saturday, 7 February 2004 03:47 (twenty-two years ago)

Batman is too unhappy to truly love Prince.

Ian Johnson (orion), Saturday, 7 February 2004 03:51 (twenty-two years ago)

Michael Jackson. Think about it.

sym (shmuel), Saturday, 7 February 2004 03:54 (twenty-two years ago)

No. Michael wants to cuddle with the kiddies, Batman wants to rigorously train the kiddies in advanced combat techniques. So it's more likely that he'd be into Henry Rollins than Michael Jackson.

Lord Custos Omicron (Lord Custos Omicron), Saturday, 7 February 2004 06:37 (twenty-two years ago)

Batman: "You are still weak. Stand up and show me your nerve plexus punch!"
5 Year Old Boy: "Waaaaah. I jus wanna go get a cookie and take a nap! Waaaaaaah!"
Batman: "See what I mean!?"
(THUD)
Batman: "and you can't take a punch either! Pathetic!"

Lord Custos Omicron (Lord Custos Omicron), Saturday, 7 February 2004 06:39 (twenty-two years ago)
