Babybird - give me some more info

Bugged is a fab album, I only discovered it recently but it's utterly, utterly fandabbytastic. I liked "Something Going On". Loved the first three songs, some alright bits in between and then the lovely "It's Not Funny Anymore". Oddly enough I really loved "You're Gorgeous" back in 1996, but never explored further (until "If You'll be Mine" blew me away back in 1998 and I held off buying that damn album for another 4 years - duh).

So should I eventually grab "Ugly Beautiful" and why the hell did they end up associated with one song which folks think is "all lovely and nice" when it's actually about a pornographer?

WTF? What sing did you hear? A gay pornographer indeed. Listen, I've got a million more Sleeper threads if you don't want to discuss this.

They became associated with it because it was their biggest hit, duh. Though Bad Old Man and The F-Word easily deserved to be just as huge.

You should definitely grab Ugly Beautiful, it's the best and most stylistically varied of the three full-band albums. Then, since you'll have the lot, you can start saving pennies for the six-CD box set of early material... there's loads of great b-sides and alternate versions of Yr Gorgeous on the Echo singles, too.
