Recording a dis track following a bad review C/D?

Just got death threats and got called a faggot and all the usual hip hop battle topoi after being one of several local critics to receive a certain underground hip hop cd with mixed feelings.

I'm sorta divided. Obviously the guy doesn't want to kill me (I hope!), and in a way, it's fair that he can express his dislike with my (among others') writing in public. The question is, though: is it pathetic? (the dis track pretty much sucks, it's not really funny or innovative or anything)

jeez! hope nothing is serious....I'm kinda mixed on this....It can be done well...but often I think it's just pathetic, Get In the Ring by GnR as prime example....

Lesson #1: if you are not prepared to beat the shit out of the person if he calls you out DO NOT physically threaten them.

Isn't this how "Bring The Noise" started - Chuck D was upset with a review that John Leland wrote? Not that I'm suggesting that the group in question is of that caliber.

i'm sure it's not serious - though that particular rapper has been known to excel in phone terror of his so-called enemies. but should folks just eat the bad (or in this case: mixed) review or is it a ball when they holler back?

If they can respond in a way that deflates the case made against them, classic.
If they strengthen the case against them, more classic, but in a duddy way.

He don't do half what he say

Dom Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man

He out shock in every single way
He'll stop at nothing just to get his political say
He think he bad cause he's BSTA
I bet he never had a social life anyway

You think he brother with the KKK?
I know his mother never taught him
right anyway
He want your vote just to remain TA.
He don't do half what he say

Dom Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man

Dom S. Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man

Does he send letters to the FBI?
Did he say to either do it or die?

Dom Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man

Dom S. Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man
Dom Sheldon is a cold man

Dom S. Sheldon is a cold man
