Unidentified Robert Smith track

I just went on a lunchbreak with my coworkers, and I was dragged into an Abercrombie and Fitch. Just when I was finally succeeding in convincing them to leave, I heard Robert Smith's voice over the PA!!!

I didn't recognize the song, and I'm a BIG fan of the Cure--I believe I have heard every full length they have released. The song had an electronica background, with all the typical techno crap that goes along with that, but Smith's vocal line made it interesting.

Does anyone have any idea what this is? It sounded fairly recent.

PS: No---it isn't the new one, "the End of the World"

I know there's a Junkie XL song he's supposed to be singing on.

he sings on that blink-182 song... it was probably that.

Sean, this doesn't strike me as a description of Blink 182:

The song had an electronica background, with all the typical techno crap that goes along with that

There's also a Blank & Jones remake of "A Forest" with Robert singing on it AND the Earl Slick track "Believe" (which would be my guess).

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 19:43 (twenty-one years ago)

Maybe it was the remix of the Rapture's "Sister Savior."

*ducks*

the blink song is sort of airy-fairy, ned, if my memory is right... that is, it could be mistaken upon a brief in-store listen as "electronic". (the guitars are certainly processed.)

Sean M (Sean M), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Fair nuff.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 20:24 (twenty-one years ago)

It's possible that it's Earl Slick f/Robert Smith "Believe" though now I hear it again, it's not exactly electronica.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

That could be it!

Richard Wright (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

I should read thread first.

Other possibility: Junior Jack & Robert Smith, wtf?

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 20:42 (twenty-one years ago)

further possibility: Tweaker.

Remember, kids: in 2004, to get Robert Smith to guest on your record, all you have to do is ask.

kit brash (kit brash), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 21:12 (twenty-one years ago)

haha, it was probably Olio.

kyle (akmonday), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 21:14 (twenty-one years ago)

kyle OTM, most likely!

VengaDan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 21:15 (twenty-one years ago)

Heh, that could indeed be true!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 5 May 2004 21:26 (twenty-one years ago)

I don't think the description being put out sounds like the JXL song (Perfect Blue Sky), as it's not really "airy techno", but you might want to check that out anyway if you're a big Cure fan or whatever.

Junior Jack ft Robert Smith - Da Hype ?

four years pass...

Lately I've been thinking that "A Perfect Blue Sky" is actually one of the best things Mr. Smith's ever been involved with. Reminds me a bit of how Gui Boratto's "Beautiful Day" turned out.

Fan video below but this way you can hear the song if you haven't:
