Your Music Life Year By Year

I actually got this from another forum, but it's a great idea...

"Think hard. Pick an album for every year of your life. Pick the album that meant more to you that year than life itself. The album you played more than any other. (read: it didn't have to come out that year). No matter how often you do or don't listen to them today; no matter how they held up in the long run... they no doubt left an impression on your life that is inestimable. So think back to that age, and tell me of the one record that was making a difference in your life THEN."

for me:

1999 (age 11): Nirvana - Nevermind
2000 (age 12): Tool - Ænima
2001 (age 13): Marilyn Manson - Holy Wood
2002 (age 14): Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile
2003 (age 15): Ween - Paintin' the Town Brown 90-98
2004 (age 16 [almost]): Liars - They Were Wrong So We Drowned/Captain Beefheart - Trout Mask Replica

My tastes have drastically changed, as the last three albums listed are really the only ones from the list that I really listen to anymore.

Awesome idea, but it's gonna be hard for me to remember what I got or listened to when.

1994: (age 14) Aerosmith--Get a Grip
1995: (age 15) Metallica--The Black Album
1996: (age 16) Metallica--Master of Puppets
1997: (age 17) Metallica--...And Justice for All (one track mind back then)
1998: (age 18) Slayer--Reign in Blood
1999: (age 19) Iced Earth--Something Wicked This Way Comes
2000: (age 20) Blind Guardian--Nightfall In Middle Earth
2001: (age 21) Pain of Salvation--The Perfect Element
2002: (age 22) Bad Religion--The Process of Belief
2003: (age 23) Killswitch Engage--Alone or Barely Breathing
2004: (not yet 24) so far, Queen II

this seems like an awfully familiar idea somehow.

Yes, this thread has been done in a variety of different ways. JunkyardTrain, welcome to the board but please use the search functions and the archives first before starting threads -- you will find many things have been discussed before, and we much prefer that threads be continued rather than duplicated. I will dig up some of these threads as examples and post links here... Chart your life by your favorite acts. Favorite bands at the age of 10 Your last paradigm shift.
