Hypothetical situation....
Let's pretend you are some sorta Perry Farrell wannabe planning a Lollapalloza-esque tour. You have use of a fairground for three days, and you figure you can have 3 acts play each day.
Your goal is to put on a show that encompasses the grand width, depth and diversity of modern music (define this any way you wish). Which nine acts would you have play at your concert, and in which order.

     Day 1
Act 1: ________________
Act 2: ________________
Act 3: ________________

     Day 2
Act 1: ________________
Act 2: ________________
Act 3: ________________

     Day 3
Act 1: ________________
Act 2: ________________
Act 3: ________________

Mystery Bonus area, you have a second small stage, which 5 new/obscure acts get relegated to playing the second stage?

Pick up your number two pencils and begin.

Melissa W (Melissa W), Friday, 11 June 2004 20:52 (twenty-one years ago)

oooh, fun.

Day 1. !!!, Moodymann, Pulp
The first day is the most "pop" of the three, we get people good and drunk and dancing their asses off. Pulp, if they can be coaxed out of their semi-retirement, give great festival.

Day 2. Beef Terminal, Matt Herbert, Plastikman
The "electronic" day. Beef Terminal will be a great hangover cure for the sunny early afternoon. I don't care what guise Herbert chooses to show up with. Hawtin can go for hours.

Day 3. Xiu Xiu, Arab Strap, Spiritualized
It's the old mid-90's Glasto "finish with Spiritualized" trick. This day is a bit of a downer, but it's day 3 and people are tired.

second stage: Kevin Drumm, The Ex, Martin Tetrault, Sensational, Ekkehard Ehlers

aka, the wierder shit, lo-fi minimal hiphop, droning, middle aged man attacking old turntables, and so on.

msp: jonathan richman/wolf eyes/black dice hahaha omg wtf

Jon in R'lyeh (ex machina), Monday, 14 June 2004 13:53 (twenty-one years ago)

Since I posted, everyone is listing five bands per day on the second stage, so I'm going to pick another ten.

However, the scheduling is messed up if we have five acts on the second stage and only three on the main stage, so I'm going to bump two acts onto the main stage for each day.

Day 1. Saint Etienne, !!!, Peanut Butter Wolf, Moodymann, Pulp
The first day is the most "pop" of the three, we get people good and drunk and dancing their asses off. Pulp, if they can be coaxed out of their semi-retirement, give great festival.

Second stage:Ekkehard Ehlers, Dettinger, Suicide

Day 2. Beef Terminal, Matt Elliott, Radboud Mens, Matt Herbert, Plastikman
The "electronic" day. Beef Terminal will be a great hangover cure for the sunny early afternoon. After Elliott, the maudlin mood lightens with Radboud Mens' dark beats. I don't care what guise Herbert chooses to show up with. Hawtin can go for hours.

Second stage: Kevin Drumm, The Ex, Tarmvred

Day 3. Do Make Say Think, Xiu Xiu, Arab Strap, Death in Vegas, Spiritualized
It's the old mid-90's Glasto "finish with Spiritualized" trick. This day is a bit of a downer, but it's day 3 and people are tired.

Second stage: Martin Tetrault, Six By Seven, Sensational

Barry Bruner (Barry Bruner), Monday, 14 June 2004 15:12 (twenty-one years ago)

Johnathan Richman blows. Thanks for reminding me to add him to the most overrated thread. Barry, I share your problem... to the point where I went ahead and made the full-page bill for mine. C-Man, you are crazed. Jon in R'lyeh, I don't care. And you are crazed to put Spiritualized on your second stage. True I didn't include them at all for mine (I thought they would be too obvious, honestly), but second stage?
