Love this record. It's not Laurie Anderson but there are some similarities in voice on certain songs (though Ann's got stronger pipes) and lots of great old robotic synths. The backing guy behind the music is actually Roberta Cacciapaglia.
Can anybody recommend stuff along similar lines? I'm looking more for stuff from a similar sound palette and songwriting tack, not necessarily the voice.

i think this in my rotating top 5 synth pop albums ever shortlist. the sound design and programming rivals ymo at their best, so much micro-detail in the production, the songwriting is the right mix of whimsical sci-fi kitsch and melancholy, the melodies are often very beautiful and the choruses are ridiculously catchy. plus the vocals are incredible
