For you, what MAKES a great musical piece?

I'm referring to your attempting to judge music with a certain degree of (possible? I ask you) objectivity.

There are certain technical criteria, dealing mainly with the complexity of harmonic structures... Do these mean anything to you when referring to "good" music? Why? Why not?
