search: broker/dealer

destroy: mushroom jazz

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 16 September 2004 20:35 (twenty-one years ago)

om label is good
dubtribe soundsystem is bad
as are the hardkiss brothers: awful bloated fake-hippie crap.
jeno is a good DJ...he's done a United DJs of America that's really good.

paulhw (paulhw), Thursday, 16 September 2004 20:48 (twenty-one years ago)

i have a hardkiss single i like, i think. and a hawke record that is pretty good. also a good dubtribe cd. but i haven't listened to any of them for almost a decade so i could be wrong.

gaz (gaz), Thursday, 16 September 2004 21:16 (twenty-one years ago)

haha i so knew gygax would chime in to diss mushroom jazz and it's the first post!

jess (dubplatestyle), Thursday, 16 September 2004 21:18 (twenty-one years ago)

any good San Francisco electronic producers or DJs...

gygax! (gygax!), Thursday, 16 September 2004 21:27 (twenty-one years ago)

Search: Mei Lwun, Andy Caldwell dub mixes (not vocal mixes).

And I have a *massive* soft-spot for Hardkiss.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Thursday, 16 September 2004 22:24 (twenty-one years ago)

If any of you guys want I can digitise some old rave era tapes from the early 90's. Wicked guys especially. Wow, Tim likes the Soulstice crew. Tim must know about all the dubby tracks NRK puts out from Jay-J, Chris Lum, Miguel Migs!! Julius Papp is nominated for that House Music Awards innovative producer thang.

Jeno, Garth, Thomas were all great!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 17 September 2004 05:04 (twenty-one years ago)

Doc Marten was sort of North/South CA and he's a genius DJ.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 17 September 2004 05:06 (twenty-one years ago)

There was a really old house label run out of that store in the tenderloin in the early 90s. I'm still rummaging through my garage.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 17 September 2004 05:09 (twenty-one years ago)

BPM when they were on Polk (I think).

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Friday, 17 September 2004 05:12 (twenty-one years ago)

chinge mi madre doble, mi amor.

gygax! (gygax!), Friday, 17 September 2004 05:47 (twenty-one years ago)

broker/dealer is from SF? wow. I would have guessed germany. I completely love 'boots and pants'

tylero (tylero), Friday, 17 September 2004 05:58 (twenty-one years ago)

Triple and quadruple the "listen to Jeno mixes" motion.

I particularly liked "Bang the drum". Still listen to that one, actually.

And how can anyone hate on Dubtribe? They're so cuddly! And actually very good live...

In general, I'd almost say search the mid-90s stuff, destroy the H-foundation nonsense from a few years back. It's just Junior Vasquez style tribal snooze for the 21st century.

Jacob (Jacob), Friday, 17 September 2004 06:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Chris Lum is great tho.

Jacob (Jacob), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:11 (twenty-one years ago)

Yeah Lum is good, but like Andy Caldwell he has to realise what his strengths are and then play to them.

Tim Finney (Tim Finney), Friday, 17 September 2004 07:19 (twenty-one years ago)

Isn't alot of SF house bordering on anemic these days though???

cs appleby (cs appleby), Saturday, 18 September 2004 20:13 (twenty-one years ago)

nineteen years pass...

Jeno’s Bang The Drum mix is so so so good. Are Vahid and Jacob still around to talk about it with me?? ;_;
