Eyes away if you love Bob Dylan.

I don't love Bob Dylan at all, but on a professional level this is quite upsetting. I discovered it on Monday morning when I got in - we had had a display of records and CDs out during Freshers Week to show off our collection, including an original 1966 double gatefold vinyl pressing of this. Workmen in the office out of hours dropping hammers (or such) are not a good thing.

I had no idea an original pressing of BoB was so valuable -- how much is it worth?

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Thursday, 7 October 2004 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh I have no idea how much it's worth, it's just the fact that it's nearly 40 years old and in very good condition AND NOW IT'S FUCKED.

True. :(

Worth bugger-all, it seems.

it's not an original pressing btw, it's a 1968 reprint.

that sucks, but i've gotta say, there's something absolutely beautiful, compositionally speaking, of the first jpg you posted. you should frame that.

I wonder: Is that Side Three & Four, or Side Two & Three? 'Cause musically speaking, ruining Side Four is much less regrettable than ruining Side Two.

hahahaha. myonga so otm it hurts.

That first photo IS awesome. It's my wallpaper now too.
I appreciate the fact that one of the destroyed tracks was "Temporary Like Achilles", and that the only one spared was "Obviously 5 Believers". HA!

The only record I have ever had shattered by an irate girlfriend was 'Blonde on Blonde' (disc 1, though). Anyway, owing to this fact I can dimly remember another thread on ILM about a copy being smashed. It seems quite fragile.

Eyeball Kicks (Eyeball Kicks), Thursday, 7 October 2004 23:51 (twenty-one years ago)

Actually, the thread I remembered only described the misplacement of a copy of 'Blonde on Blonde'. Nothing counts.

Sweet Revenge
