Seriously? Is it some kind of doddery gene that makes them get weepie and want to get married to Angels by Robbie Williams or When you Say Nothing at All? By Ronan Keating or some crap by Westlife? WHY I ask ye? WHY?

Controversial Colin.., Friday, 15 October 2004 14:37 (twenty-one years ago)

You think it was the fellas that kept Love is All Around by Wet Wet Wet in the charts for 567 weeks or Everything I do (I do it for You) in the charts for 359 weeks?

Do you?

Controversial Colin.., Friday, 15 October 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Controversial!

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 15 October 2004 14:38 (twenty-one years ago)

Girls like Teh Postal Service often it seems.

nickalicious (nickalicious), Friday, 15 October 2004 14:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Maroon. 5.

Hari Ashurst (Toaster), Friday, 15 October 2004 14:42 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh, that's easily explained. The singer is hot.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 15 October 2004 14:45 (twenty-one years ago)

Surely the answer to all of this is to ration the CDs that females can buy? For instance, all women are given a special "Record card" that allows them to purchase no more than 2 CDs and 1 CD single every month. Goths are only allowed 1CD per month and they will LIKE IT. Goth males are not allowed any, so that way accusations of sexism are no longer fair (because if anyone has the worst music taste ever it is a goth male).

I think this sounds good.

Controversial Colin.., Friday, 15 October 2004 14:48 (twenty-one years ago)

another snakebite?

Freelance Hiveminder (blueski), Friday, 15 October 2004 14:49 (twenty-one years ago)

Your life will improve immeasurably when you stop hanging with girlies and get down with women.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 15 October 2004 15:16 (twenty-one years ago)

i always get weepie when i play metal machine music, no new york or slayer. what can i say, i'm such a cry-baby. i don't go to recordshops as they are infested with machos like you. so i always ask my husband to buy me the CD while i sit in a coffee shop reading News Of The World.

maria b (maria b), Friday, 15 October 2004 18:57 (twenty-one years ago)

The Dizzee album makes me cry.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 15 October 2004 18:58 (twenty-one years ago)

I know, me too. It really is pretty bad.

paulhw (paulhw), Friday, 15 October 2004 19:56 (twenty-one years ago)

What's a good romantic song?

Nowell, Friday, 15 October 2004 20:03 (twenty-one years ago)

You do realise, "Colin", that this new character uses EXAcTLY the same phrasing and syntax as Calum Robert Wadell?

Sick Mouthy (Nick Southall), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Colin?

Nowell, Friday, 15 October 2004 20:09 (twenty-one years ago)

I "get" Calum, FWIW.

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:12 (twenty-one years ago)

I better shut up before I ask another stupid question.

Nowell, Friday, 15 October 2004 20:13 (twenty-one years ago)

Nowell: Calum is an infamous(?) ILX troll, famous for talking about UK pop stars boobs and the like.

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:18 (twenty-one years ago)

Okay. I'm famous on here for...being dumb! No, I'm kidding.

Nowell, Friday, 15 October 2004 20:19 (twenty-one years ago)

No, you're famous for being fifteen!

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Oh! Right. Fifteen years old = dumb.
No, I'm kidding about that, too.

Nowell, Friday, 15 October 2004 20:23 (twenty-one years ago)

Ian doesn't like it when other teenagers post on ILX.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:36 (twenty-one years ago)

Who's Ian?

Nowell, Friday, 15 October 2004 20:37 (twenty-one years ago)

I'm Ian; that's my real name. (I'm only a teenager for two more months.)

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:38 (twenty-one years ago)

I swear you've been 19 for about two years.

adam. (nordicskilla), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

SHOULD I POST PICTURES OF IAN @ AGE LIKE 13? WITH DYEED HAIR????

sometimes i like to pretend i am very small and warm (ex machina), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:39 (twenty-one years ago)

Helios Creed (orion), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Well, uh, my half-brother's name is Ian. He's all grown up now, though. Anyway...

Nowell, Friday, 15 October 2004 20:41 (twenty-one years ago)

j.m. lockery (j.m. lockery), Friday, 15 October 2004 20:49 (twenty-one years ago)

How did I know that this was a Colin thread from the title alone???

i still say colin is an impostor. a prety good one but there are subtle diferences.

:|, Friday, 15 October 2004 23:07 (twenty-one years ago)

Why do brits always complain about Westlife? Who the fuck are Westlife?

David Allen (David Allen), Saturday, 16 October 2004 03:55 (twenty-one years ago)

The alleged subtle differences do not include using a different IP address from Calum. Has anyone else found that contempt for him has gradually turned to pity?

Martin Skidmore (Martin Skidmore), Saturday, 16 October 2004 12:55 (twenty-one years ago)

well IF they were the same person i would be worried about calum because said diferences hint at a person that is less playful, bitter, even heartbroken.

:|, Saturday, 16 October 2004 13:04 (twenty-one years ago)

"Who the fuck are Westlife?"

Quite possibly the worst band there's ever been. Let's leave it at that.

Wooden (Wooden), Saturday, 16 October 2004 13:16 (twenty-one years ago)

The alleged subtle differences do not include using a different IP address from Calum. Has anyone else found that contempt for him has gradually turned to pity?

Not entirely, but I am terribly amused how he's surrendered even more by starting to employ the 'This is the thread...' meme.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Saturday, 16 October 2004 14:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Westlife is an Irish boy band whose output mainly consists of either mid-tempo second rate Max Martin ripoffs or cover versions that are downright photocopies of the original.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Sunday, 17 October 2004 13:55 (twenty-one years ago)

They're about to realease an album of rat pack covers, which is as artistically daring as they get.

Wooden (Wooden), Sunday, 17 October 2004 14:03 (twenty-one years ago)

sorry, i've just always wanted to do that

Symplistic (shmuel), Sunday, 17 October 2004 19:59 (twenty-one years ago)

it was both shitty and romantic.

Kim (Kim), Sunday, 17 October 2004 20:05 (twenty-one years ago)

Has anyone else found that contempt for him has gradually turned to pity?

My thoughts:

Contempt says more about the contemptor than the 'accused'.
Pity? It's a bit strong.
I've had more respect for CRW than some of the attacks on him.
I think he is very wrong-headed about some things.
I think sometimes he is right by accident about some things.
I respect him enough to be straight with him.
Message ends.

mark grout (mark grout), Sunday, 17 October 2004 20:21 (twenty-one years ago)

Angels by Robbie Williams sucks. Get married to "Take my breath away" by Berlin for fuck's sake.

Dante, Der Führer (Sean3), Sunday, 17 October 2004 20:26 (twenty-one years ago)

"Angels" is great. There are lots of shitty mainstream ballads though.
