I want as many 87-89 english warehouse party track names to download as is humanly possible. I am sure there is already a thread on this, but I dont know how to search for them

lukey (Lukey G), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 08:22 (twenty-one years ago)

bulbs (bulbs), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 08:32 (twenty-one years ago)

lukey (Lukey G), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 09:39 (twenty-one years ago)

There were a whole bunch of great Chicago tracks, you want those too? I don't think they were played much in the UK, but not sure.

87-89 stuff as filtered from s/d: acid house, restricted purely to tunes that I remember from going out/dj-ing at that time:

acid trax - phuture
stakker humanoid - humanoid
acid over - tyree
voodoo ray - a guy called gerald
no way back - adonis
shout - jack frost & the circle jerks
house this house - mr. lee
house nation - housemaster boyz
acid thunder - fast eddie
land of confusion - armando
i've lost control - sleezy d
washing machine - mr fingers
can you feel it - mr fingers
nude photo - rhythim is rhythim
chime - orbital
n-r-g - adamski
helyom halib - capella
oochy koochy (f.u. baby yeah yeah) - baby ford

I'd also add:

can you party - royal house
a day in the life - black riot
give it to me - bam bam
the poke - adonis & the endless poker
do it properly - 2 puerto ricans a blackman & a dominican
can u dance - kenny jammin jason & fast eddie smith
your love - frankie knuckles
baby wants to ride - jamie principal
everything bamboo - lenny d & tommy musto
let the music (use you) - nightwriters
french kiss - lil' louis
strings of life - rhythim is rhythim
you used to hold me - ralphi rosario
this brutal house - nitro deluxe
house arrest - krush
so many ways - the brat pack
it's alright - sterling void
promised land - joe smooth
tears - frankie knuckles & satoshi tomiie
open our eyes - marshall jefferson
the morning after - fallout
the sound - reese & santonio
rock to the beat - reese & santonio
the real life - corporation of one
pacific state (original from the "quadrastate" ep, not the hit single version) - 808 state
release your body - bang the party
pump up london - mr lee
ye ke ye ke (marrs remix) - mory kante
acid man - jolly roger
party people - royal house
weekend - todd terry project

Bear in mind that not all of the above strictly qualifies as "acid".

The Mastercuts Classic Acid compilation is good.

surely you mean the Hardfloor mix of "Yeke Yeke"? (btw Nigella Lason chose that as a Desert Island Disc on radio 4 - i'm sometimes glad i still read the Guardian).

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 10:08 (twenty-one years ago)

is that true jed, the hardfloor rmx? :-O

on topic: dr derelict - that shit's wild.

when did izit - stories come out? i think that was a big UK warehouse tune, not that i was old enough to go to any. plus, affrodisiak. and debbie malone - rescue me.

nebbesh (nebbesh), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 10:24 (twenty-one years ago)

The Hardfloor remix of "Yeke Yeke" surely came later than in '87-'89, right? I think it was in 1995.

Tuomas (Tuomas), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 10:27 (twenty-one years ago)

blessed are the tune identifyers! thank you.

lukey (Lukey G), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 10:32 (twenty-one years ago)

according to the Guardian yes, she did. according to this - it wasnt neccesarily the hardfloor mix (although that might not be something radio 4 might find it relevant to mention).

you're right Tuomas - i didnt really realise this thread was about the first wave of acid specifically.

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 10:37 (twenty-one years ago)

given that she said the Chemical Brothers and New Order, we can only assume that yes it was the Hardfloor mix, and that Nigella Lawson is the perfect woman.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 10:46 (twenty-one years ago)

"teenage dirtbag"?????

jed_ (jed), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 10:49 (twenty-one years ago)

surely you mean the Hardfloor mix of "Yeke Yeke"?

No, absolutely not. There was a M/A/R/R/S remix which appeared - on white label at the very least - in Summer 1988. It's at home in the attic. I think I'm correct in saying that it's the only tune other than "Pump Up The Volume" which bears their imprint.

mike t-diva (mike t-diva), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 12:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Late summer/early autumn 1989; I always associate it with Quadrastate, "Your Love" and Kariya's "Let Me Love You For Tonight". I didn't include it in my list because it was too downtempo.

Bam Bam - "Give it to me"
That "Got the bug" tune - who was it by?
Yazz - "Stand up for your love rights" beatmasters remix, kid you not, is really good
6 Brown Brothers - "Battery acid"
Professor of Acid - "Ecstasy"

Jacob (Jacob), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 12:40 (twenty-one years ago)

Yazz - "Stand up for your love rights" beatmasters remix, kid you not, is really good

Seconded. Found a sealed copy a few years back for next to nothing.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 13:22 (twenty-one years ago)

There was also a good acid-tinged Bam Bam remix of Yazz "The Only Way Is Up".

mike t-diva (mike t-diva), Wednesday, 20 October 2004 13:33 (twenty-one years ago)
