Can't seem to get their track "Lady Flash" outta my head at the moment. I love that sampladelic lo-fi hip-hop coolnuss of it/

Does anyone have their album and how do you rate them as an outfit?

Are they happening or hype????

Fun record, but the grooves wear out real quick.

A few of us saw them last night - they were marvellous.

they were indeed. much better live than on record. i don't understand how anyone could claim they're shambolic.

You should all come up and see them play Optimo in a couple of weeks. It will be fun.

They're the most original thing I've heard this year

daavid (daavid), Sunday, 21 November 2004 22:43 (twenty-one years ago)

I like what I've heard, which isn't much. Don't know if I'd buy the album, but they seem to have hit upon what radio likes for now.

I think the album's a total blast... don't know if I'll still be saying the same thing a year from now (I haven't exactly been going back to the Avalanches record lately)... but then maybe sample-delic lo-fi hip-hop albums are kinda like light bulbs - you just replace your old ones every couple of months and enjoy the shine while it lasts.

i didn't like the vocalist much but the band sounded good. i still think they need 50 kids up there when they do Huddle Information.

Despite what I'd heard, I thought they were fandabiedoozie live.

The album is VERY good.

I thought I'd clicked on the Darkness/SouthBankShow thread here. I thought you'd all gone MAD!

mark grout (mark grout), Monday, 22 November 2004 12:19 (twenty-one years ago)

the album is more ennio morricone than i can stand. but "The power is on!" is class without doubt.

If DI really had gone pop...
