roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Friday, 24 December 2004 20:26 (twenty years ago)

TOFU AND HIS WICKED FAST SURGERY AVERTS THE ROB BASE DEFICIENCY!

donut christ (donut), Friday, 24 December 2004 20:33 (twenty years ago)

I was hoping the question was going to be, "Rob Base is coming over for dinner, and I need to know right now whether he prefers the Whopper or the Big Mac!"

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Friday, 24 December 2004 20:36 (twenty years ago)

He also don't like buddha and can't stand sens, yes.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 24 December 2004 20:38 (twenty years ago)

"HELLO, I'M ROB BASE'S PERSONAL ASSISTANT, AND BITCH I GOTTA TELL YOU HE IS OFF.. DA...HOOK TONIGHT, BUT I DON'T CARE 'CUZ I'M GOING OUT TO DANCE!"

donut christ (donut), Friday, 24 December 2004 20:45 (twenty years ago)

He also don't like buddha and can't stand sens, yes.

HA HA HA

donut christ (donut), Friday, 24 December 2004 20:47 (twenty years ago)

Hm. See, I thought it was "sens" as in "sensimilla".
I'magonna stand by that assumption as I have been passed sens and had it called sens in the process of having it passed.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 24 December 2004 21:02 (twenty years ago)

I'd also like to note that ya'll ain't hard, mothafucka.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 24 December 2004 21:03 (twenty years ago)

Sirs.

Forksclovetofu (Forksclovetofu), Friday, 24 December 2004 21:04 (twenty years ago)

I read an interview with Rob B. where he was all defensive because so many people made the same sex/sens mistake. He was like, "Why would I say I hate sex? I love sex!" (But it was too late, the honies had all stayed away for fear of causing him offense...)

gypsy mothra (gypsy mothra), Friday, 24 December 2004 21:37 (twenty years ago)

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 December 2004 19:50 (twenty years ago)

I was going to start an ILE thread but I might as well use this thread to complain about my Christmas Eve Dog Bite To The Face Crisis Reqiuring A Whole Lot Of Stitches To The Inside Of My Mouth Crisis. It sucked. That's a nice mix though.

adam (adam), Saturday, 25 December 2004 20:41 (twenty years ago)

Thanks! It's basically every song I ever remember us learning the words to when we were kids/teenagers (yikes, I know, in some cases.) It's called 1403 mix cause that was our address at the house we grew up in. He got tears in his eyes over it!

Sorry to hear about your mouth, dude! They give you lots of pain meds?

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Saturday, 25 December 2004 20:53 (twenty years ago)

NOTHIN'. Not to mention that I can't drink alcohol or smoke. Worst Christmas ever except for that it is all of a sudden SNOWING IN NEW ORLEANS WTF which is pretty nice.

adam (adam), Saturday, 25 December 2004 22:03 (twenty years ago)

three years pass...

i'd like to hear that mix, roxy, if it's still around. also lols at the 'can't stand sex' misunderstanding, i was puzzled by that lyric as well

NI, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 22:55 (sixteen years ago)

(is there a proper rob base/ez rock thread?)

do they have any other good songs? i quite like 'get on the dancefloor' - did they sample that rave-y riff, or come up with that themselves? (i dont mean the jacksons lift, obv)

NI, Tuesday, 4 November 2008 22:58 (sixteen years ago)

im reading homicide by david simon and his description of a bunch of baltimore murders set to the lyrics of 'it takes two' is just stunning

Jesus Christ

I was driving around in downtown LA listening to KDAY the first time I heard "It Takes Two." It was the most radical thing I'd ever heard on the radio, I think, at that point - the physical details of which car I was driving and where I was are burned into my memory because it was just shocking, giddy, amazing.

Sad he is dead so young.

just wanted to stop in and say how much these guys meant to me. if i just think of pure joy, pure fun in music, "It Takes Two" is the first song that comes to mind.

the part of the video where Rob says "one two three - get loose now" and EZ Rock takes off his hat and does this funny dance makes me smile so much.

RIP

When I was in high school, the cheerleading squad did a routine to this, during a basketball game, right after it was released. The whole crowd was dancing maniacally (and doing the "whoo! yeah!" along to the record), and a few of us in pep band were sitting in stunned silence at this overwhelmingly vibrant new sound.

Montgomery Burns' Jazz (Tarfumes The Escape Goat), Monday, 28 April 2014 19:03 (eleven years ago)

"It Takes Two" was just the greatest thing in the world in 1988. Think they had it #1 on that Spin greatest-singles-ever list in 1989, and that was one instance where I was completely with them (or at least thought it was more than just provocation-for-provocation's sake). Pretty sure I could still recite almost the entire song word-for-word.

clemenza, Monday, 28 April 2014 19:20 (eleven years ago)

So much fun to sing along to, always gets me hype and happy, fkin booming song imo. RIP EZ
