Green River might have well have been some kind of moonshine. Mountain Dew is a soft drink, but the folk song "Mountain Dew" predates the soda and certainly refers to bootleg liquor (or in some interpetations, the cleansing glory of Christ).

Of the many songs called "Southern Comfort" my favorite (and maybe my favorite drinkin' song ever) is by English folksinger Rosie Hardman, which survives in my collection on a mixtape from a long out-of-print album on a tiny label that I'll never find again. What a voice.
