I just bought those!!!!

Let's relate pet-oriented music disasters here...

The Argunaut (sexyDancer), Friday, 18 February 2005 17:46 (twenty years ago)

Are we talking iPod phones or something more substantial? And did you dip them in catfood or something?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 18 February 2005 17:48 (twenty years ago)

My friend's cat apparently knocked over a glass of water and soaked a pile of cds that i lent him.

And I've lost two guitar cases to acidic, odoriferous cat urine.

Brooker Buckingham (Brooker B), Friday, 18 February 2005 17:57 (twenty years ago)

my cat made the earpads for my headphones disappear just the other day as well

Avi (Avi), Friday, 18 February 2005 17:58 (twenty years ago)

It's the salt from the sweat. Salt is pretty hard to come by out in the woods.

Mark (MarkR), Friday, 18 February 2005 18:02 (twenty years ago)

they were those little sony in-the-ear things. Lil' Strokes just tore the shit out of them. $500, tho. :(

The Argunaut (sexyDancer), Friday, 18 February 2005 18:06 (twenty years ago)

oops, $50 i meant

The Argunaut (sexyDancer), Friday, 18 February 2005 18:07 (twenty years ago)

Wait, your cat is named Li'l Strokes? Where are his brethren Wee Interpol and the Furry Furnaces?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 18 February 2005 18:20 (twenty years ago)

my record spines have been torn to shit by my kitty

ddb (ddb), Friday, 18 February 2005 18:22 (twenty years ago)

my (sadly departed) cat ate through several pairs of headphones as well as any rubberized cord-like thing he could get his mouth on. Currently one of our other cats has just decided, after seven years of living with this nice wood furniture, that she should scratch it all to hell. I'm not sure why.

kyle (akmonday), Friday, 18 February 2005 20:51 (twenty years ago)

My record spines were shredded by my little sister once. She found a razor blade and for some reason thought it very fascinating to shave the records on my shelf.

nickn (nickn), Friday, 18 February 2005 20:58 (twenty years ago)

see what you get when you deprive yer cat from music? LET THE KITTY ENJOY THE MUSIC, YOU SELFISH BASARD.

stevie nixed (stevie nixed), Friday, 18 February 2005 20:59 (twenty years ago)

My cat totally ruined a nice-ass pair of Sony DJ phones, you know the ones -- the, uh, MDR-V700, yeah that's it. Fucker chewed right threw the cord. I guess I could try to patch it. Looks like a delicate operation. I wonder if there are places that will repair that kind of thing?

Stormy Davis (diamond), Friday, 18 February 2005 21:03 (twenty years ago)

I have also gone through seriously like 5 clothes irons with this cat. For some reason he is just insanely attracted to the rubbery insulation that Sunbeam uses on its irons. I finally wised up and bought another brand/

Stormy Davis (diamond), Friday, 18 February 2005 21:04 (twenty years ago)

This is why I'm a dog person.

Thermo Thinwall (Thermo Thinwall), Friday, 18 February 2005 21:07 (twenty years ago)

In the case of the earplugs, the cats are probably going for the earwax. I've never seen a cat chew on an electrical cord, but it's probably the same attraction that led my ex's cat to lick plastic bags.

j.lu (j.lu), Friday, 18 February 2005 21:10 (twenty years ago)

This thread is hilarious and quite weird. I've had several cats and none of them have shown any attraction to headphones or record spines at all. Stepping on CD's is another matter...

Bimble... (Bimble...), Friday, 18 February 2005 22:36 (twenty years ago)

I've had to cover the cords to the tv, stereo componenets, computer several times 'cause one of our cats loves to chew on wire.

Michael White (Hereward), Friday, 18 February 2005 22:44 (twenty years ago)

Well they all have their own personalities, I suppose. Someone told me of a cat that liked to lick the droplets of water off the wall of the shower/bathtub.

Bimble... (Bimble...), Friday, 18 February 2005 22:46 (twenty years ago)

my cat pissed on my soft guitar case while i was on vacation, leaving my strat to marinate in urine for two weeks

jake b. (cerybut), Saturday, 19 February 2005 00:20 (twenty years ago)

Friend's cat pissed on my albums -- the B section.

briania (briania), Saturday, 19 February 2005 00:29 (twenty years ago)

My puppy's chewed through two headphone cords. Before the second time learned to leave them on top the desk, but they had dropped off.

JC-L (JC-L), Saturday, 19 February 2005 01:07 (twenty years ago)

my cat totally hates my bong

charleston charge (chaki), Saturday, 19 February 2005 01:45 (twenty years ago)

i used to have billy joel's greatest hits on cassette. one day, the segment of tape containing "new york state of mind" developed a long sequence of distorted notes after spending approximately twenty minutes in the digestive tract of the more portly of my two cats.

Kim (Kim), Saturday, 19 February 2005 02:58 (twenty years ago)

A stray tomcat snuck into my apt. and whizzed on my CDs, like 100 of them. Well, just the spines. But that stuff NEVER EVER goes away and cleaning is no use.

Aaron A., Saturday, 19 February 2005 03:03 (twenty years ago)

My wife's cat hacked the largest squishy, cat food-filled hairball I've ever seen right across the top of a milk crate full of my techno records. Of course the sleeves were upturned with the openings on top, so my collection of Axis, Plus 8, Drumcodes and Hybrids have an extra layer of surface noise courtesy of this kitty.

my cat totally hates my bong

our dog always runs away when we lit up a joint. she's straight-edge.

stevie nixed (stevie nixed), Saturday, 19 February 2005 08:43 (twenty years ago)

More cat stories please. I love this thread.

Bimble... (Bimble...), Saturday, 19 February 2005 09:06 (twenty years ago)

My sister's rabbit was into the wires too. Power cords and speaker wire were its favorites.

sleep (sleep), Saturday, 19 February 2005 09:17 (twenty years ago)

"And I'll do it again, too! Meow ha ha ha meow etc."

my cat ruined my beanbag, there's enough fur stuck to that beanbag to make a dozen fur coats

latebloomer: HE WHOM DUELS THE DRAFGON IN ENDLESS DANCE (latebloomer), Saturday, 19 February 2005 12:47 (twenty years ago)

my cat used to jump on records as they span on the turntable...

james porter (james porter), Saturday, 19 February 2005 13:12 (twenty years ago)

my cat had a fondness for the grounding wire connecting the turntable and the mixer. repaired twice and finally taped up out of reach. also, known for stealing 7"es and knocking them off table/ under couch.
