This is a half-decent list insofar as all of these groups/artists seem much less contested here than the groups that usually appear in the lists (Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx, Dizzee Rascal, The Streets, Junior Boys etc.). Perhaps because they are not recent?

to answer my own question: yes. cause otherwise I'd just shoot down any indie type band (and most rock in general, for that matter), and someone else would poo poo any funk, or hip hop, or free jazz, etc.

Steely Dan are a howling vacuum of suck, and Fleetwood Mac doesn't really have much more going for them than Buckingham's songs on Tusk. I'll back the rest of the bands listed, but none of them really excite me at all (w/the possible exception of Cocteau Twins...possible exception only because they aren't, as an entity, inherently exciting per se).

maybe, but i remember a thread called, "Someone explain why anyone would like XTC.." and there seemed to be a lot of corroboration.

speaking of which, i just sold five CDs today and picked up Drums and Wires.. it's fucking great! i def. need to explore this period a lot more... the eighties did strange things to bands.

I've expressed frustration over them before re the simplistic monotony of T.E.E. and Radioactivity at times. Tombot made a good case for why Y.M.O. and Telex were often better...
