i always think phil oakey sings in an obvious sheffield accent, particularly on the MKI human league stuff. mrs fiendish says she can't hear it, though, and calls me a knob.
and then there's gedge, of course: the way he sings "brassneck" is just joyous. in a leeds stylee.
from this we can discern i'm big on the ol' yorkshire accent. which is weird, me being a red-roser and all. but yes, i suppose i do connect with any north-of-englander singing in a regional accent: it's such a refreshing change from the characterless transatlantic drawl adopted by so many bland british singers.
