Common's upcoming album-- what's the word?

I hear it's filler-free and fabulous. Kanye is producing all/most of it, too. Has anyone heard it? Release date? "Active rap?"

eh, f*ck an old thread. New realizations for a new time.

POST-Bootleg I am very tepidly recieving this album & generally unthrilled actually. Pre-Bootleg my anticipation was pretty damn high on the Richter,--Food was great, Corners was MAYBE even better a sign at the time because the "return ta the streets" affect attempted, Comm was definitely still bringing it, Kanye's still riding that production-high & they BOTH got sumthing ta prove with this album
add-in excitement over the rumored shortening/no-fillering effect of it being solely 11 tracks. add-in tension over rumored John Mayer appearance that may or may not be cringe-worthy & may BUT WILL LIKELY guarantee chances for ridonkulous levels of success/cross-over for the rest the album. add-in further anticipation due ta the excellent gritty Corners vid. add-in semi-potential-excitement over the fact that even Dilla's apparently being cleaned out the picture because how "GREAT" the Kanye/Comm chemistry supposedly is. add-in last excitement that XXL is giving it a CLASSIC RATING & the album is bound ta cause an even further & better example ta rebirth "true school" sh*t.

but uh, the album is ridiculously underwhelming. the beats & EVEN the lyrics sound generally uninspired ta me, he's really not speaking. Niether heartfelt, nor froofrie, nor great return ta the "common-man-from-the-chi-streets," just kinda bland. "Go" seems ta stand out the most naturally, but not because it's great or anything or even that different,--the John Mayer "appearance" is even kinda surprisingly too brief as he's just represented with a cut-off-early 1 word loop. but it semi-stands out & has potential. The rest just sounds really dry. Dilla's contributions are assininely bland. Even "Corners" now sounds pretty tepid & reminding of the let-down.

However, there's good looks yet--apparently the album was still not complete, whole possbly great songs still unheard yet, & additions from Scarface & Mos Def on the Corners Remix, plus the unmasteredness might've just been the missing factor that makes the sound "not pop-out" yet. So, we'll see...

but on the other hand, it's still pretty all good if semi-dissappointing music catches on Mainstream ta lead trends down thath path, as the "dissppointingness" won't be the repeated factor,--hopefully the idea of "focused one producer albums" & just basically people biting Common in general will be great in the long-run. So I'm semi-down with the rather undeserved acceptance/hailing that it's seeming ta get in the Mainstream publications.

I like that summation. My expectations werent that high though, so i'm happy.

it's horrible. mostly weak nu-soul beats, preachy rapping. common is generally pretty horrible.

Where's the "preachy" part?
