There are a few other threads like this, but albums seem to go in and out of print all the time, so I figured a fresh thread was appropriate. Hooray for the Dinosaur Jr. and Slits re-issues. I've been trying to get hold of these recently:

Liquid Liquid
The Feelies - Good Earth
Cluster - 71
Orange Juice - You Can't Hide Your Love Forever
Raincoats
Slowdive - Pygmalion

I've downloaded half of these and they're great. What are some other gems currently OOP?

poortheatre (poortheatre), Sunday, 24 April 2005 05:24 (twenty years ago)

why don't they just reissue "the heather's on fire"? they would be fucking stupid to mess with that tracklist.

Lots of "classic" nerd-rock seems out of print, oh my:

The Feelies -- their whole back catalogue, actually.
The Embarassment -- Heyday, other collections.
The Chills -- Kaleidoscope World, Brave Words.
Mofungo -- Messenger Dogs of the Gods.
Volcano Suns -- Bright Orange Years.
The Loft -- Once Around the Fair.
World of Pooh -- Land of Thirst.
39 Clocks -- their catalogue.

Liquid Liquid

Although I guess it's technically out of print, the 2LP/CD leftover stock is available here by the people that bought the rights to Grand Royal.

Vic Funk, Sunday, 24 April 2005 10:16 (twenty years ago)

Swervedriver - Mezcal Head

Really? I bought this on CD not that long ago and I dont think it was a secondhand copy...

Love's Secret Domain by COIL

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 24 April 2005 13:11 (twenty years ago)

Pause for earnest/sincere question: how does one determine whether an album is in/out of print? Especially now, after nearly fifteen years of CD reissues. Seems like there are copies floating around of many lost classics even after record companies have dropped them from the catalogue. Is there a single online resource w/this info?

m coleman (lovebug starski), Sunday, 24 April 2005 13:24 (twenty years ago)

Colossal Youth was going to be reissued a few months back, did anything come of this?
It's not in print in the UK? Weird. One of the local record stores in my city always has a copy of the 2003 reissue by Play It Again Sam America.

John Cale - Music for a New Society (although I found a mint copy of this for $17 a few months ago)
The Comsat Angels' first three albums of course
The Au Pairs - Playing With a Different Sex (although I like the remixed/remastered Sense and Sensuality better)
All Kitchens of Distinction albums (in America, although they're available in Britain)

Ian Riese-Moraine has a grenade, that pineapple's not just a toy! (Eastern Mantr, Sunday, 24 April 2005 13:46 (twenty years ago)

The entirety of the Screaming Blue Messiahs catalog.....which is a damn shame.

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 24 April 2005 14:02 (twenty years ago)

I've cited it many times before, but Belfegore by Belfegore (never even got a proper CD release).
A Fierce Pancake by Stump
Let's Play Domination by World Domination Enterprises
Headkick Facsimile by Cop Shoot Cop
HA! Killing Joke Live by Killing Joke (supposedly soon to be rectified)

Alex in NYC (vassifer), Sunday, 24 April 2005 14:05 (twenty years ago)

"almost all of mezcal head is on the new swervedriver comp."

BUT, in most cases, it's the single edits (show some love for the 11-minute fuzzbowls!), and one of my fave MH tracks ("Maggie & Harry") is represented on the comp in its rerecorded slower version ("93 Million Miles...")

That said, the comp (Juggernaut Rides) is nice.

David R. (popshots75`), Sunday, 24 April 2005 14:10 (twenty years ago)

if you don't mind cassettes, you can always buy sealed tape copies of the good earth on ebay for 6 bucks:

No, but the way I usually can tell is by looking on Amazon. If they don't have the "add to cart" link and it's just listed under "amazon sellers," that means the distributor isn't offering the title any more. A lot of times, however, things are "in-print" in the UK but not here (see Richard Thompson's albums, Entertainment, etc.)

Keith C (kcraw916), Sunday, 24 April 2005 14:19 (twenty years ago)

We did do something similar to this very recently:

Pretend you have a label specialising in reissues. What would you release?

Keith C (kcraw916), Sunday, 24 April 2005 14:20 (twenty years ago)

Oh man I'd love to buy A Fierce Pancake on CD.

Patrick South (Patrick South), Sunday, 24 April 2005 14:20 (twenty years ago)

I think a specific thread is in order for gmailing/YSI these (and only these) OOP albums to each other. I have a few listed here (Crazy Rhythms, Starsailor) and more, but there's also a bunch I don't have that I really need (Deceit, No New York).

Keith C (kcraw916), Sunday, 24 April 2005 14:25 (twenty years ago)

I hate to be a broken record (ha ha), but The Good Earth is in print on CD (not CDR):

http://tt.net/coyote/projects/8673.html

You don't get cover art. Somehow $15 for a retransferred-in-2003 version without cover art seems like a better answer than a $6 tape or a $70 used copy, but maybe that's just me. Be sure to note that Yung Wu's Shore Leave and the No One Knows EP are available on CD as well.

A lot of these records are bargain bin (or at least used) staples so they may be out of print but they aren't hard to find or anything (Psychic Hearts is a bargain bin staple.) Also Cluster 71 is in print according to Amazon.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Sunday, 24 April 2005 15:07 (twenty years ago)

Or wait maybe it isn't. Either way, it's not hard to find either.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Sunday, 24 April 2005 15:10 (twenty years ago)

I'm pretty sure that Colossal Youth is in print...

Vic, thanks for the tip on Liquid Liquid..

And I really can't believe that the This Heat catalogue is OOP right now... You'd think that there would be a steady demand for it-- at least a lot more than 3/4 of the crap in your local record store. Maybe This Heat issues are like Disney-- they keep them somewhat rare to increase value?

Orange Juice was never issued in the US? Damn. I see that Japanese import on amazon, but it's a little more money than I'd like to spend-- i've got the mp3s, so i'm not exactly dying for it. Same with Return on the Giant Slits, Harmonia, etc.

I didn't know Cluster 71 was available.. yoink!

poortheatre (poortheatre), Sunday, 24 April 2005 15:21 (twenty years ago)

I just checked amazon. All the Cluster albums are available through zSellers, so i guess they're available but not in print (as in, currenty being printed).

Also, MY BLOODY VALENTINE EPs.. you can actually buy the three-fer on amazon-- it just doesn't exist.

poortheatre (poortheatre), Sunday, 24 April 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

You can get a lot of the Cluster albums (but not the one you mentioned) from waysidemusic.com

And I think the reason the This Heat albums aren't in print is due to legal/copyright issues.

Keith C (kcraw916), Sunday, 24 April 2005 15:31 (twenty years ago)

the two Black Eye compilations, Leather Donut and Waste Sausage. I'm not paying $125 for used copies, damnit!

haitch (haitch), Sunday, 24 April 2005 15:33 (twenty years ago)

Running list of stuff not in print in the U.S. (or anywhere, in many cases)

23 Skidoo - Seven Songs
49 Americans - everything, especially 'We Know Nonsense'
100 Flowers - S/T + Singles
Adam & The Ants - Dirk Wears White Sox (was this recently issued again?)
Au Pairs - Playing with a Different Sex (ok, not brilliant, but deserves to be in print)
Cluster - 71
Comsat Angels - all the early albums, I think
Crash Course in Science's stuff (+unreleased)
Creatures - 'Feast' + 'Wild Thing EP' (maybe this is in print?)
Dalek I Love You - Compass Kumpas
Delta 5 - See the Whirl (+Singles)
Diagram Bros. - Some Marvels of Modern Science (+Singles)
Dow Jones & The Industrials - Hoosier Hysteria (+Singles)
Einstruzende Neubauten - Kollaps
Embarrassment - at least the compendium, though it'd be nice to just have everything reissued in full
ESG - I guess that Souljazz comp covered most stuff. . .
Family Fodder - 'All Styles,' 'Monkey Banana Kitchen,' 'Schizophrenia' etc. etc.
Flying Lizards - The Fourth Wall. S/T?
Front 242 - Geography (?)
Gang of Four - Peel Sessions
Girls At Our Best - Pleasure
Gist - Embrace the Herd
Half Japanese - Half Gentlemen Not Beasts
Jerry Harrison - The Red & The Black (not that great, but it has moments)
Robin Hitchcock - Black Snakd Diamond Role (?)
Human Switchboard - Who's Landing in My Hanger (+ Singles)
Lemon Kittens - everything, pretty much
Liquid Liquid - everything (?)
Maximum Joy - Station MXJY (+ singles)
Massacre - Killing Time
Mekons - S/T, Quality of Mercy is Not Sternen (?)
Monitor - S/T +
MX-80 - is any of their stuff in print? None of it is hard to find. . .
Nasmak - mainly '4our Clicks'
Neonbabies - all the stuff
Colin Newman - is any of it in print in the States? At least 'A-Z' and 'Commercial Suicide'?
Orange Juice - everything (soon to be rectified?)
O-Level - " " "
Our Daughter's Wedding - Moving Windows +
Passions - 30,000 Feet Over China, Michael & Miranda
PigBag - Dr. Heckle & Mr. Jive + singles (UK comp is great)
Plastics - 'Origato Plastico', 'Welcome Plastics'
PragVec - No Cowboys +
Pop Group - is anything in print in the U.S.?
Psychic TV - Force the Hand of Chance
Pylon - everything (is that comp still in print?)
Raincoats - everything (easy to find, other than the S/T)
Rip, Rig & Panic - God +
Ryuichi Sakamoto - B2 Unit, Left Handed Dream
Siouxsie & The Banshees - A Kiss in the Dreamhouse (was for a while anyway)
Slits - Peel Sessions, Return of the Giant Slits
Sonic Youth - S/T EP
Mark Stewart - Learning to Cope with Cowardice, others?
This Heat - everything now, apparently
Three Johns - Atom Drum Bop
The Times - Pop Goes Art
Trio - S/T (great German version available)
Urban Verbs - Early Damage
Voice Farm - The World We Live In +
Y Pants - Beat it Down + (back in print?)

I've spent fairly stupid amounts of money to get a lot of this stuff, and was lucky enough to buy a lot of it in the UK when the dollar wasn't so weak. A lot of it isn't hard to find or that expensive, but a lot of it as far as I know has never been reissued anywyere.

I.M. (I.M.), Sunday, 24 April 2005 15:38 (twenty years ago)

Harmonia isn't in print? Jeez.

I.M. (I.M.), Sunday, 24 April 2005 15:41 (twenty years ago)

Harmonia has to be in print surely, I saw both albums get reviewed in Mojo a couple of months back!

haitch (haitch), Sunday, 24 April 2005 15:57 (twenty years ago)

Adam & The Ants - Dirk Wears White Sox (was this recently issued again?)

Yes. All Adam albums from Dirk to Vive Le Rock got a very good reissue over the last year.

Creatures - 'Feast' + 'Wild Thing EP' (maybe this is in print?)

Available on a compilation called A Bestiary of the Creatures that was released about five, six years back -- possibly that is out of print again.

Gist - Embrace the Herd

Was rereleased by Ryko about three years back.

Robin Hitchcock - Black Snakd Diamond Role (?)

Rhino covered the rights to Robyn's early solo stuff and reissued it mid-nineties -- did they let that lapse?

MX-80 - is any of their stuff in print? None of it is hard to find. . .

Atavistic rereleased almost all of it; worse comes to worse just contact Gulcher Records.

Pop Group - is anything in print in the U.S.?

Dan Selzer indicated there's a comp coming up on Soul Jazz. Similarly with Stewart's stuff solo.

Siouxsie & The Banshees - A Kiss in the Dreamhouse (was for a while anyway)

All Siouxsie albums due for a reissue along the lines of the Cure reissues.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 24 April 2005 16:03 (twenty years ago)

Thanks Ned. I've got everything I listed, I just wasn't sure fot others' purposes (like the person who started this thread) whether I was correct about everything I listed.

I.M. (I.M.), Sunday, 24 April 2005 16:11 (twenty years ago)

RER ( http://www.rermegacorp.com ) has several This Heat releases...they're based in the U.K. but they have free shipping to the U.S.A. Exchange rates, though, are pretty dire right now: £12.50 = $23.94.

Ernest P. (ernestp), Sunday, 24 April 2005 16:11 (twenty years ago)

i can't find Street Hassle by Lou Reed of The Holy Bible by Manic Street Preachers (i know it got reissued but i don't want all that fuckin bonus bullshit. i'm hopin to find a small record store that still has the original.)

rockaction (rockaction), Sunday, 24 April 2005 16:17 (twenty years ago)

The bonus bullshit is actually all pretty worth it -- the version of "Faster" on Top of the Pops on the DVD in particular is glam/military/aggro chic that's like a car crash of early Echo, mid-period Clash and early Bauhaus which actually turns into something spectacular.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Sunday, 24 April 2005 16:26 (twenty years ago)

i said something misleading upthread. Slits, Harmonia, Orange Juice, Pop Group are currently in print (I think), but they're only availble as expensive Japanese imports.

poortheatre (poortheatre), Sunday, 24 April 2005 19:31 (twenty years ago)

Stand In The Fire is great. Wanted Dead Or Alive, which isn't so great is available, though. Go Figger!

jim wentworth (wench), Monday, 25 April 2005 01:07 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, all the 49 Americans stuff is on nice Japanese prints, in little mini LP sleves and all. But probably expensive in the States--expensive enough when I picked them up at Rough Trade a year ago.

I.M. (I.M.), Monday, 25 April 2005 05:09 (twenty years ago)

Orange Juice - You Can't Hide Your Love Forever

i sold this for like $60 not long ago

there is some sort of orange juice reissue out soon on domino but i think it is the pre-album singles.
why don't they just reissue "the heather's on fire"? they would be fucking stupid to mess with that tracklist.

does this mean it's time to sell my copies of those two gatefold postcard lp reissues? i think those are really rare.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Monday, 25 April 2005 05:14 (twenty years ago)

yargh.. i hate those mini LP sleeves. I like the idea of them, but i move so damn much they always get mucked up.

poortheatre (poortheatre), Monday, 25 April 2005 05:16 (twenty years ago)

yeah but the packaging is beautiful. apparently postcard issued about 2,000 of those and a few years later reissued "ostrich churchyard" and "heather's on fire" in regular jewel boxes without all the artwork and stuff... even that later reissue is really hard to find. i'm sure the ones i have are worth a lot--but i'm not certain because they never even show up on ebay. (i found them... i don't even remember how. i found all the OJ polydor reissues at newbury comics in boston around 2000-2001. evil clown in chicago also had them until a few years ago.)

The Gist release on Ryko is out of print and hard to find.

i think i still have my copy of this... i hope i do anyway. this was never given a proper release i don't think. i mean i think a few 1,000 copies--if that--were pressed and that was it. i've only ever seen it once in my life and i bought that copy.

Amateur(ist) (Amateur(ist)), Monday, 25 April 2005 05:20 (twenty years ago)

oh i thought you were talking about the OJ reissues.

duh.

yeah, those mini-LP sleeve things are kind of silly. i like how economical they are, but they are a pain to use.

Spandau Ballet - Journeys to Glory

Isn't "The Good Earth" the Feelies record produced by Peter Buck? I bought it new at Virgin about 4 years ago.

Alfred Soto (Alfred Soto), Monday, 25 April 2005 17:18 (twenty years ago)

I didn't realise that Gist and OJ were so rare. I bought a sealed copy of the Gist for a reasonable amount--don't remember now but I think it was around $20--via Gemm or eBay a couple years ago.

How is Time Fades Away? I just realized yesterday how much I love Neil Young. I didn't even know about that album until the stylus article today..

poortheatre (poortheatre), Monday, 25 April 2005 18:18 (twenty years ago)

great, part of the "dark" trilogy along with On teh Beach and 2nites the nite.

The Sensational Sulk (sexyDancer), Monday, 25 April 2005 18:27 (twenty years ago)

Time Fades Away is wonderful. It's got Don't be Denied wich is great a couple of good piano songs and a couple of wild rockers like Last Dance and Yonder Stands the Siner (No clunkers as far as I remember). Also it's his Nashvile band I think along with Nash so the songs have a different swing, kind of honkey-tonk. The fanatics have a couple of online petitions they try and use to persuade Neil Young I guess (as he's the one that seems to hold that one up) to release it. I think they did the same for On the Beach, I don't know if they claimed credit for the rerelease.

dan. (dan.), Monday, 25 April 2005 18:39 (twenty years ago)

Supposedly they couldn't find an acceptable master tape for Time Fades Away during the last batch.

Keith C (kcraw916), Monday, 25 April 2005 18:41 (twenty years ago)

W/r/t ESG: Soul Jazz collected most of their stuff except for about 1/3 of their second album and a couple b-sides. So, although I'm only basing this on the greatness of the 2/3 of it that I've heard:

ESG - ESG

Deric W. Haircare (Deric W. Haircare), Monday, 25 April 2005 19:20 (twenty years ago)

According to the AMG, TFA was released on CD by Reprise SOMEWHERE in 1999. Right now there's a Russian CD reissue on Ebay. Maybe that's it.

Doobie Keebler (Charles McCain), Monday, 25 April 2005 19:30 (twenty years ago)

i'm ready for six hour plus box sets from slovenly and thinking fellers.

dan (dan), Monday, 25 April 2005 19:40 (twenty years ago)

If it's time for people to care about SLOVENLY, their catalog would serve up a righteous compilation at lesat, methinks

Slovenly are one of my very favourite bands of all time, and I totally endorse this! Never found any of the New Alliance stuff here, so I could really use an extensive comp. And maybe some folk dont know some of their later stuff either? (I have Mike to thank for introducing me to them thru Chemical Imbalance all those years ago and I guess this is my one big chance to thank him for doing me that inestimable favour - sorry to embarrass you Mike, but thanks like about a million times!)

Oh also, what Clock DVA stuff is in print these days?

NickB (NickB), Monday, 25 April 2005 20:22 (twenty years ago)

Lots and lots of great powerpop stuff from the 70s.

Geir Hongro (GeirHong), Monday, 25 April 2005 20:48 (twenty years ago)

six months pass...
Wounded Bird reissued the first Urban Verbs in 2003. I'm wondering if they'll do the same for Early Damage. They're so sporadic in their schedule. They also did Dictators and Dr. John. I don't think they ever remaster them though.

Fastnbulbous (Fastnbulbous), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 14:01 (twenty years ago)

Renascent (the label that brought you the Sound reissues) is re-releasing the Comsat Angels catalog early next year.

Weren't Lou Reed's Rock and Roll Heart, The Bells and Growing Up In Public reissued not too long ago? I can't find 'em anywhere. Street Hassle and New Sensations are also scarce.

Fastnbulbous (Fastnbulbous), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 14:31 (twenty years ago)

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 16:58 (twenty years ago)

Wall of Voodoo - Dark Continent (I'm not kidding, this is a great record, I've seen it go for >$100 on eBay)
Feist - Monarch (her 1st album)
Misfits - 12 Hits From Hell (whether it could have ever been considered "in print" is debatable, though)
Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers - L.A.M.F. (fuck what you heard, the original mix was the best and has never been rereleased)
Dog Faced Hermans - Hum of Life (their best, another damn shame)

A lot of 80s noise stuff...
First four Live Skull records
Skullflower's Form Destroyer
Cop Shoot Cop's Headkick Facsimilie (though that went OOP almost as soon as it was released)
Swans - First EP
Drunks With Guns - entire catalog

Although I wouldn't call them great records, Rob Zombie's done a great job of supressing the first two White Zombie albums.

After the Dylan doc aired, I discovered the entire John Jacob Niles is OOP.

Edward III (edward iii), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 18:12 (twenty years ago)

I'm pretty sure Sonny Sharrock's Ask the Ages is out of print.

Jordan (Jordan), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 18:19 (twenty years ago)

I'll add:

Lou Reed - Legendary Hearts
Lou Reed - New Sensations

Patrick South (Patrick South), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 18:28 (twenty years ago)

"Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers - L.A.M.F. (fuck what you heard, the original mix was the best and has never been rereleased)"

I'm very much afraid that there's something very seriously wrong with either your speakers or your ears.

It's a long story, but apparently there was some sort of fuck up by Track Records (who were probably somewhat distracted by the fact that they were rapidly going down the pan at the time) which resulted in the original vinyl release sounding horribly muffled; almost as if there was someone holding a pillow either over your ears or in front of your speakers.

I'm told this didn't affect the original cassette release - and I've even heard it suggested that the masters used for the vinyl were actually the wrong ones!

If the sound reproduction - not to mention the distribution - of the original album hadn't been so piss poor, then I strongly suspect that the story of Johnny Thunders; the Heartbreakers; and maybe even (who know?) the entire punk scene in both the UK and the USA; would have unfolded very differently.

That's not to say that the original L.A.M.F. couldn't be advantageously remastered, because I rather suspect it could; but in the meantime, L.A.M.F. The Lost '77 Mixes sounded like a complete revelation to my ears, after having lived with that original vinyl since it first came out.

Of Montreal - The Bedside Drama: A Petite Tragedy

Jeff Reguilon (Talent Explosion), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 19:16 (twenty years ago)

I know the whole story - and I still prefer the original L.A.M.F. mix. It's been unfairly maligned for years, and so many people have repeated the "sounds crap" line so many times it's become a bit of received wisdom for those who've never heard the original mix. I can understand why people prefer a "cleaner, crisper" sound, but it kinda defeats the purpose when you're talking about a scrappy punk record from '77. Ya know, there's a solution for something sounding a little muffled on your stereo, it's called the bass EQ.

I excitedly purchased The Lost '77 Mixes as well, listened to it a few times, and put it back on the shelf. While it's definitely preferable to the abortion that is LAMF Revisited, it's not a life-changing punk record for me. The original mix is dirty back alley rock n roll, and I wouldn't want it cleaned up anymore than I'd want Junkyard or Right Now! or Enter The 36 Chambers cleaned up.

The fact remains that L.A.M.F. is out of print, and it will probably never make the transition to CD because of its reputation as being the nadir of audio fidelity. Being a fan of punk + indie music, I've heard way worse recordings than the original L.A.M.F. (waaaayyy worse) and anybody scared off should really give it a listen before they judge. Maybe I'll YSI the thing...

Edward III (edward iii), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

I think the problem with L.A.M.F. isn't / wasn't so much that it sounded crap (as you rightly say, there's certainly no shortage of substantially worse recordings around!) so much that it always sounded as if it really

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 21:03 (twenty years ago)

(Don't you just hate it when that happens? That's twice I've done that today! Now, where was I? Oh yeah)

.... as if it really should - as if it really ought to - sound so much better.

I
To me it sounds / sounded as if someone had fucked up the bass EQ; or one of the speaker cones had blown; or someone had draped a duvet over one of the speakers; or you had an earful of wax - or maybe full of water from when I took that shower earlier....

Unfortunately no amount of dicking about (at least none that IIII ever achieved) with either the equipment or a cotton wool bud ever actually managed to put that right, and ultimately only added to the frustration.

Of course you're also absolutely right that people should make up their own minds if and when they get the opportunity rather than just believing what they read.

Always.

About everything.

I'll bet one whole shiny new penny that more than half of them will agree that L.A.M.F. sounds horribly and frustratingly muffled 'though.

Still, great cover pic http://blog.drecom.jp/avallo/img/14/Heartbreakers-LAMF-.jpg

Out of interest Edward, have you ever heard the 12" of "Chinese Rocks"?

The same recording (and supposedly the same mix / master) as the album - but fuck does it sound better!

Stewart Osborne (Stewart Osborne), Wednesday, 2 November 2005 21:11 (twenty years ago)

I'll agree that L.A.M.F. could be frustrating to a listener - that almost tangible rock nirvana dancing tantalizingly out of reach, obscured by buckets of mud. Just turn it up louder. When "Chinese Rocks" kicks in the guitars are so f'gn ugly; the climax of "Pirate Love" sounds like the band's playing a runaway train demolishing an apartment building. And the songs, the arrangements - just brilliant. The fact that the thing's lost to the sands of time just kills me...

Never heard the Chinese Rocks 12", but your tip has certainly put me on the hunt!

Speaking of orginal mixes, how could I forget:

Raw Power by The Stooges

> I'm told this didn't affect the original cassette release...

I have the original UK cassette and it sounds fine to me. Haven't heard the vinyl so I've nothing to compare it to, but it doesn't exhibit any of the well-documented problems often attributed to the original LP.

I haven't played either of then for a while now, but IIRC Jungle's 'LAMF Revisited' doesn't sound *hugely* different to the Track cassette.

I only have the Lost 77 Mixes but that sounds fine to me. If you want to YSI the original that would be cool, if you want I can YSI the original Raw Power CD in return...

xpost Lick My Decals is avail on Amazon MP3; haven't heard it, but others from them sound good, for MP3s. There's no legit CD version, far as I know, unlike most if not all of his original releases.

dow, Monday, 15 October 2012 18:52 (thirteen years ago)

three months pass...

Been on a kick going to find a few that I haven't heard in years that I had as a teenager. Other than a boxset, it doesn't look like the Samhain stuff has been printed since the first CDs, which considering the enduring popularity of the Misfits is surprising. Danzig owns those records, so I figure if he wanted them out they would be. Voivod's early catalog is largely out of print and that I would guess is possibly caught in other companies own them and don't care to put them out. I might have to break out and get the MP3s on that one.

Samhain- Initium
Voivod- Nothingface (It's out there as MP3s though...)

One of my favorite albums of all time, Troublegum by Therapy?, is out of print as far as I know. At least in the US.
