Because I'm not. Are you?

Yakuza Ghost Six (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:18 (twenty years ago)

Nope.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:20 (twenty years ago)

I haven't finished all the initiation rites yet, nor learned the secret virtual handshake.

(I fear I may have said too much already...)
Hi dan.

John Justen (johnjusten), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:25 (twenty years ago)

not unless ned is.

peter smith (plsmith), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:27 (twenty years ago)

I think you have to be here at least a couple of years.

I'm completely addicted to this place, but I've only been here about 11 months, and thus don't have near the post count of say, Ned, or Alex In NYC (picking you guys completely arbitrarily here). I think it's a question of visibility by way of prolific posting (with the inherent assumption that your posts are interesting to read and thus get a lot of responses).

Personally, I wouldn't really worry about it. Just enjoy ILM and ILX for what they are.

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:27 (twenty years ago)

not unless ned is.

*whistles idly*

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

ned is the BORG QUEEN!

latebloomer: Pain Don't Hurt (latebloomer), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:28 (twenty years ago)

Hi John! How're kicks?

(xpost: latebloomer, like we didn't know that already.)

The Ghost of MN HIVEMIND REPRAZENT (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:29 (twenty years ago)

Alice Krige was an extremely effective standin. Was it good for you too?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:32 (twenty years ago)

Adam you are *so* in the hivemind.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:32 (twenty years ago)

don't be mean!

Yakuza Ghost Six (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:32 (twenty years ago)

I'm a loner, an outsider, mysterious and oblique!

Yakuza Ghost Six (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

I'm special!

Yakuza Ghost Six (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:33 (twenty years ago)

The funny thing is, when I think "ILM hivemind," I don't think Ned and Alex in NYC at all!

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:34 (twenty years ago)

Good! That means we've succeeded!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:34 (twenty years ago)

So Ned, do I pour the blood in the chalice before or after I pledge to smote the humorless? Help a brother out!

Dan - Kicks are good, unless you are talking about the Minnesota Kicks, who are sadly no longer with us. MN hivemind indeed. We are a dangerous splinter-group to be reckoned with.

John Justen (johnjusten), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

Maybe The Lex and Barima and Spencer and Stevem?

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:35 (twenty years ago)

jaymc

Yakuza Ghost Six (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:36 (twenty years ago)

So Ned, do I pour the blood in the chalice before or after I pledge to smote the humorless?

Yes.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:36 (twenty years ago)

I think The Lex just loves everything!

Yakuza Ghost Six (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:36 (twenty years ago)

Damn. I'm going to need more blood...

John Justen (johnjusten), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:39 (twenty years ago)

After the pledge, don't forget to throw the blood on Zack de la Rocha.

(The Kicks are gone? BOO. PS: Have you heard Green Velvet???? OMG.)

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:39 (twenty years ago)

I will happily pledge ILM hivemind allegiance.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:40 (twenty years ago)

I'm on my own little hivemind. With jed.

Yakuza Ghost Six (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:43 (twenty years ago)

It's going to be a struggle, Spencer. If you are a straight male member of the hivemind, you have to promise to dance with good-looking women while New Order and MIA is played by a DJ, and I don't know if you're cut out for that.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:44 (twenty years ago)

haha august 6 will be four years

strng hlkngtn, Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:47 (twenty years ago)

I'm down with the Minnesota Hivemind.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:47 (twenty years ago)

You mad Duluthian, you whitefish freak.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:48 (twenty years ago)

I represent Southern MN...Blue Earth. Home of the Jolly Green Giant statue.

"The earth's so rich, the city grows" - is our motto. Live it.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:50 (twenty years ago)

We're all crazy! We should have coffee mugs made to commemorate this fact.

Yakuza Ghost Six (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:50 (twenty years ago)

STANDING ON THE SHOULDER OF GIANTS!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:51 (twenty years ago)

Was that some cut dialogue from "The Cider House Rules", Ned?

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 19:51 (twenty years ago)

That's one lifelike can. xpost

Dan: hey, texts are there to be rewritten.

On this thread:

Is ILM a secret?

I wrote:

Old ILM -- compulsory worship of Daft Punk's "Discovery"
Nu-ILM -- not understanding what the big fucking deal is with Daft Punk's "Discovery"

Consequently, one could say that the denizens of "Old ILM" populate the ILM hivemind, whereas the "Nu-ILM'ers" do not. I think I'm on to something here.

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:04 (twenty years ago)

Welp, we have to kill ya now.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:05 (twenty years ago)

Hahahaha but by that logic I am a denizen of nu-ILM!

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:13 (twenty years ago)

Hey, so am I! That shows what a thriving diverse community we are. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:13 (twenty years ago)

I am unconcerned about the hivemind thing. I know what I like, and I can't stands no more.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:18 (twenty years ago)

xpost:

And by the very same logic, I'm old-school ILM. This plus five dollars gets me a latte at Starbucks.

Unless, of course, there's something you're all not telling me...

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:19 (twenty years ago)

I think The Lex just loves everything!

this is the second time in the past week someone's said this about me, do you people not read my posts in the threads about Oasis/Bloc Party/insert any boys-with-guitars band here?! I don't think I'm in a hivemind though I wish my tastes were the hivemind.

The Lex (The Lex), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:20 (twenty years ago)

The logic may not work both ways -- that is, those who worship "Discovery" are old-ILM, but not all old-ILM'ers worship "Discovery".

As false binaries go, I like mine :)

xxpost

MindInRewind (Barry Bruner), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:20 (twenty years ago)

Who likes the most things on ILM. I think it's me.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:24 (twenty years ago)

do you people not read my posts in the threads about Oasis/Bloc Party/insert any boys-with-guitars band here?!

Ah, but that means you're bigoted about some music and we can't listen to you. Er, wait.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:25 (twenty years ago)

I come to ILM for the company, not the music.

Yakuza Ghost Six (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:28 (twenty years ago)

Why don't we all take a second to remember what this is really about?

Yakuza Ghost Six (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:28 (twenty years ago)

No dice, East Bay boy.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:29 (twenty years ago)

Ned, you have a habit of referring to where people live.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:35 (twenty years ago)

hahaha!

Yakuza Ghost Six (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:35 (twenty years ago)

What fun banter.

Yakuza Ghost Six (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:37 (twenty years ago)

Ned, you have a habit of referring to where people live.

I am a sweet bigot.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:38 (twenty years ago)

"Sweet Bigot (Splenda Mix)" - ILM Hivemind feat. Felly

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:39 (twenty years ago)

I see no Omnipotent Baby credit!

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:40 (twenty years ago)

I am definitely part of the hivemind.

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:40 (twenty years ago)

I mean.......amn't I? right guys?

Ronan (Ronan), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:41 (twenty years ago)

There's a post there but I can't read it.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:41 (twenty years ago)

Having not been posting regularly that long... I'm hoping that it was just a temporary coincidental meeting in some of my tastes/ILM's tastes that brought me here.

If my record collection still looks 'approved' in too many places come this time next year I might worry it's become an influence. Right now I'm hanging on to my strong dislike of Girls Aloud and Rachel Stevens as barriers to assimilation.

fandango (fandango), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:43 (twenty years ago)

Although that Borg chick was oddly sexy.

fandango (fandango), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

"Come Visit The Sweet Bigot" by the Clevered Neds.

I'm sorry. I tried to stop myself.

John Justen (johnjusten), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

Bless your heart.

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:45 (twenty years ago)

Dan is on fire today!

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:46 (twenty years ago)

I really hate that the Borg Queen has what looks like lipstick on. That's so fucking stupid.

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:47 (twenty years ago)

Wow, beer goggles at work.

fandango (fandango), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:48 (twenty years ago)

Dan is on fire today!

He is! (but I thought I was doing all right too *whimper*)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:49 (twenty years ago)

why wouldn't the borg wear lipstick?

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:49 (twenty years ago)

do the borg have an aesthetic beyond the purely functional? THAT is the real question.

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:50 (twenty years ago)

Well you know, body piercing.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:50 (twenty years ago)

i always wonder if there are people working in design jobs in scifi universes. like did palpatine design darth vader's suit or did he hire out a firm?

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:52 (twenty years ago)

haha

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:53 (twenty years ago)

(i know that's kill-me-now kevin smithish, but i tend to wonder about those mundane details in fantastical settings!)

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:53 (twenty years ago)

My theory is that big ol' building at the end where they take him to get fixed up is full of medical robots that design all their burn victims like that. There's a whole bunch of Vaders running around Coruscant, but the voice is custom designed.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:53 (twenty years ago)

in designer colours!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:55 (twenty years ago)

"Arise, Pinkth Vader."

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 20:57 (twenty years ago)

Palomino (Palomino), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 21:08 (twenty years ago)

that's a jaunty outfit!

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

You misspelled 'form-fitting'

Ned Raggett (Ned), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 21:12 (twenty years ago)

Yay, Kraftwerk!

fandango (fandango), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 21:13 (twenty years ago)

Outfits can be both jaunty and form-fitting!

At second glance, I'm pretty sure I can see the contours of his junk.

M@tt He1geson (Matt Helgeson), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 21:15 (twenty years ago)

"pretty sure"

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 22:23 (twenty years ago)

hahaha!

s1ocki (slutsky), Wednesday, 8 June 2005 22:29 (twenty years ago)
