I was searching hi-n-low for the "Flying W" of Judas Priest video fame, but the Pac-Man one stop the search.

Lock thread.

All of those are custom-made by Specimen Guitars here in Chicago, who also make a wide range of awesome-looking aluminum guitars.

Re: the Pacman Guitar:

The Pac Man Guitar. Dave "Timely" Winer of the Howards and the Baltimores requested this piece. He called my bluff after I replied, "Not only can I build it, I can make the headstock blink as well!"

A variable-speed knob is located on the eyeball so you can synchronize the blinker to the beat. There is also an emergency push-button kill switch (another request of the client).

n/a (Nick A.), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 18:31 (twenty years ago)

I want one of those push button kill switches on my guitar! Buckethead uses one to do all those fake record scratching sounds he does.

bass GUITAR.

The one nickalicious posted looks like it would be played by a claymation version of Willie Nelson.

Hurting (Hurting), Wednesday, 15 June 2005 20:44 (twenty years ago)

this is the only non-standard guitar that can actually be called cool looking:

http://www.hard-rock-cafe.de/HRC_Nashville_Bo_Diddley_Gretsch_Custom_Box_Guitar.jpg

bo notwithstanding, the coolest looking guitar is an ordinary stock fender from the early '60s, in fiesta red, seafoam green or some other such early '60s color.

I bid on the bass version of one of those daisy rock heartbreakers on ebay a couple of weeks ago, but I got pwnt.

I looked for a picture of todd rundgren's ankh shaped guitar, but failed miserably.

Rick Neilson's monstrosities always made me cringe, personally. But I guess they suited his image.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 16 June 2005 17:27 (twenty years ago)

Walter's pic of Todd Rundgren's SG wins!

That was actually George Harrison's guitar. He had it painted by The Fool and gave it to Eric Clapton who used it for years. Clapton loaned it to Jackie Lomax who then turned around and sold it to Todd Rundgren. Oops. If I were Clapton I would be a bit pissed about that.

I was trying to find a picture of whichever one of the Jacksons had a guitar shaped like a baseball glove, but I couldn't find it.

P.S. Hilary Duff has a greatest-hits album coming out soon. I don't know whether to slit my wrists or hers.
