What do people think is the best/most important regional dance music in the U.S. past or present? For example Baltimore Club, Go-Go, Miami Bass, Screw, etc. Also what artists or songs are the best from these genres? I am trying to find things out about these genres and would love some info/recomendations.

I like the Chicago "stepping" clubs, many still in existence though they serve a diminishing audience. A classy scene!

You should download the "Steppin' Across the USA" compilations...they have a lot of obscurities on them. The DJ's are idiosyncratic.
