Joris (rizzx), Sunday, 3 July 2005 10:15 (nineteen years ago)

there's a Braxe & Falke mix...

Sociah T Azzahole (blueski), Sunday, 3 July 2005 12:32 (nineteen years ago)

That album was such a disappointment.

Mr. Snrub (Mr. Snrub), Sunday, 3 July 2005 12:40 (nineteen years ago)

i still can't shake track 7 on that album, What Else Is There?. Then again, ever since I heard the Knife album for the first time, I guess about 8ish months ago, I haven't been able to shake it, either. So hauntingly awesome. (particularly the track on the Royksopp album)

Will M. (Will M.), Sunday, 3 July 2005 14:28 (nineteen years ago)

this album is sort of weak, listened to it once and sort of brushed it off. s'no Melody A.M.

brokenfuses (brokenfuses), Sunday, 3 July 2005 15:02 (nineteen years ago)

"Falling in love makes me part of a plan": classic line, or dud?

"Circuit breaker" is also very good, as I said on the other thread (Röyksopp - The Understanding).

And the released version is a little different from the one that was leaked last month.

brittle-lemon, Sunday, 3 July 2005 15:03 (nineteen years ago)

"And the released version is a little different from the one that was leaked last month."

Referring to the album.

brittle-lemon, Sunday, 3 July 2005 15:19 (nineteen years ago)

This is the kind of summer jam sensitive Coldplay fans will be rocking out to.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 3 July 2005 15:32 (nineteen years ago)

Well, I certainly prefer the Coldplay album (which is rather recent as well), but ¨the Röyksopp album is great ;)

Geir Hongro, Sunday, 3 July 2005 16:21 (nineteen years ago)

The defense rests.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Sunday, 3 July 2005 16:23 (nineteen years ago)

Isn't that line "Falling in love wasn't part of the plan"? or maybe "isn't".

locus solus, Sunday, 3 July 2005 16:25 (nineteen years ago)

Wait guys...I like this album too! It's great!

Hand Shapes (nordicskilla), Sunday, 3 July 2005 16:52 (nineteen years ago)

the best songs on "the understanding" are definitely better than the best ones on "melody am". 49 Percent, Circuit Breaker, Beautiful Day Without You, What Else Is There, all really good and more directly affecting than wishy washy Melody AM.

Ronan (Ronan), Sunday, 3 July 2005 17:12 (nineteen years ago)

I definitely hear "falling in love isn't part of the plan". This has become one of my favorite love songs ever.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Sunday, 3 July 2005 17:31 (nineteen years ago)

thats what i mean, its such a beautiful, perfect love song. it's perfect. a perfect song every once in a while is not that bad

rizzx (rizzx), Sunday, 3 July 2005 18:34 (nineteen years ago)

My review on another thread talks about how the music and lyrics all work together to perfectly describe the rush of new love mixed with the "this is too perfect it'll never work out" feeling.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Sunday, 3 July 2005 18:39 (nineteen years ago)

which thread?

rizzx (rizzx), Sunday, 3 July 2005 18:41 (nineteen years ago)

49 Percent was made for me!

Hand Shapes (nordicskilla), Sunday, 3 July 2005 21:52 (nineteen years ago)

I definitely hear "falling in love isn't part of the plan".

Yeah, I guess that's right. I almost prefer the version I misheard.

I just posted the 6:33 Braxe remix (not to be confused with the Braxe instrumental mix) of the song over on the YSI thread.

brittle-lemon, Monday, 4 July 2005 05:40 (nineteen years ago)

here the lyrics:

Only this moment (Holds us together)
Close to perfection (Nothing is out there)
No one to guide us (Lost in the senses)
Deep down inside I know our love will die
[OK]

Only this moment (Holds us together)
Lost in confusion (Feelings are out there)
Scared of the ocean (Doubting intentions)
Deep down inside I know our love will die
[OK]

Stay or forever go
Play or you’ll never know
We haven’t decided
You can’t deny it’s all you’ve been waiting for
[OK]

Stay or forever go
Play or you’ll never know
Your spirit’s divided
You will decide if I’m all you’ve been waiting for

Got in my head
Have Been part of my twist
By the force of the nature
Revealing our fates
And our words don’t make sense and I do understand,
Falling in love isn’t part of our plan
Forces within me, makes reason with lust
But I try to accept it and not think it works
Because I know I might lose you by taking the chance
But love without pain isn’t really romance
[OK]

Only this moment (Holds us together)
Close to perfection (Nothing is out there)
Always beside us (Ttrusting my senses)
Deep down inside (I know i will survive)

Only this moment (Holds us together)
Close to perfection (Nothing else out there)
Always beside us (Tusting my senses)
Deep down inside I know I will survive

this is hands down the greatest love song ever! spencer otm

rizzx (rizzx), Monday, 4 July 2005 09:03 (nineteen years ago)

Here's the other thread:
Röyksopp - The Understanding

I'll try to post my own transcription of the lyrics. For example I think the last line is "deep down inside I know love will survive" which is great because of the contradiction from the earlier fatalistic "deep down inside I know our love will die. Also, I think "But I try to accept it and not think it works" is "but I'll try to accept it and not make it worse".

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 4 July 2005 16:27 (nineteen years ago)

Hmmm, I always heard:

We haven’t decided
You can’t deny it’s all you’ve been waiting for

as:

What heaven decided
You can't deny, it's all you've been waiting for.

jeffery (jeffery), Monday, 4 July 2005 17:22 (nineteen years ago)

Furthermore this album is definitely a grower. The more I listen to it, the more I like it.

jeffery (jeffery), Monday, 4 July 2005 17:23 (nineteen years ago)

I also hear "Lost in our senses" and "Scared of devotion"

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 4 July 2005 17:32 (nineteen years ago)

Here's what I have:

OK
Only this moment
Holds us together
Close to perfection
Nothing else out there
No one to guide us
Lost in our senses
Deep down inside I know our love will die
OK

Only this moment
Holds us together
Lost in confusion
Feelings are out there
Scared of devotion
Doubting intentions
Deep down inside I know our love will die

Stay or forever go
Play or you’ll never know
We haven’t decided (*could also be "What heaven decided*)
You can’t deny it’s all you’ll be waiting for
OK

Stay or forever go
Play or you’ll never know
Your spirit’s divided
You will decide if I’m all you’ll be waiting for

Girl to my head
Have been part of my twist (*not sure about this one "pardoned with twist?*)
By the force of the nature
Revealing our fates
And our words don’t make sense and I don't understand,
Falling in love isn’t part of the plan
Forces within me mix reason with lust
But I'll try to accept it and not make it worse
'Cause I know I might lose it by taking the chance
that love without pain isn’t really romance
OK

Only this moment
Holds us together
Close to perfection
Nothing else out there
Always beside her
Trusting my senses
Deep down inside I know love will survive

Only this moment
Holds us together
Close to perfection
Nothing else out there
Always beside her
Trusting my senses
Deep down inside I know I will survive
OK

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 4 July 2005 17:47 (nineteen years ago)

I think these are amazing lyrics - not something I would particularly expect from them - after all, who is Poor Leno anyway?

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 4 July 2005 18:13 (nineteen years ago)

This is the kind of summer jam sensitive Coldplay fans will be rocking out to.

Michael I agree with you on many things, but this depiction strikes me as a bit knee-jerk. While possibly true (although I think it's too weird for whatever strawman you're talking about), there's beautiful music here regardless of whether it's "lite" or "adult" or "bourgeois".

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 4 July 2005 18:21 (nineteen years ago)

i still can't shake track 7 on that album, What Else Is There?. Then again, ever since I heard the Knife album for the first time, I guess about 8ish months ago, I haven't been able to shake it, either. So hauntingly awesome. (particularly the track on the Royksopp album)

so OTM.

cutty (mcutt), Monday, 4 July 2005 18:25 (nineteen years ago)

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Monday, 4 July 2005 19:10 (nineteen years ago)

Another friend talked about how this song is "trance" because of the female vocal. I guess I don't hear it at all because I stopped listening to trance after Jam and Spoon's "Stella". I just don't see how this song is arranged or sounds like trance in any way.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 4 July 2005 19:18 (nineteen years ago)

i know it sounds kind of cheesy but who the hell cares, i don't and the day tiesto spins this is a good day for trance

rizzx (rizzx), Monday, 4 July 2005 19:20 (nineteen years ago)

Spencer, I don't mind the song at all actually! I think what I meant was that it's just so lush and sentimental that it's not the kind of summer jam you'd hear beach parties, cookouts or even during the peak hours of club nights.

The Braxe mix is another story.

Michael F Gill (Michael F Gill), Monday, 4 July 2005 19:38 (nineteen years ago)

gotcha! I think I read too much into your actual statement.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 4 July 2005 19:42 (nineteen years ago)

Also, I think sensitive Coldplay fans will be rocking to Coldplay this summer!

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Monday, 4 July 2005 20:03 (nineteen years ago)

Well that was a waste of time. It doesn't sound like those trance tracks at all.

Spencer Chow (spencermfi), Monday, 4 July 2005 20:16 (nineteen years ago)

yeah that's way off. it's the same as saying when coldplay shreds that note they sound exactly like sonic youth

rizzx (rizzx), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 09:38 (nineteen years ago)

if coldplay were to record a song with lots of feedback, and chris martin doing an obvious thurston moore impression, wouldnt it be fair to suggest that they tried to sound like sonic youth? only this moment = vocal trance in every aspect but the drum pattern, and the brand name. all the sound cliches are there

fe zaffe (fezaffe), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 10:40 (nineteen years ago)

It's totally trance. (Not a bad thing in my book.) So was "Poor Leno" for that matter.

brittle-lemon, Tuesday, 5 July 2005 10:57 (nineteen years ago)

it's got trance elements, it's not "totally trance" though. it's a little too subtle and it doesn't reach a big epic climax at some point. but i know where you're coming from, i just don't think it's right to say it's trance

rizzx (rizzx), Tuesday, 5 July 2005 12:38 (nineteen years ago)

it's also got some nice disco touches
