DREAM COVERS!!

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 21:59 (twenty years ago)

that's not an answer.

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:00 (twenty years ago)

I, nothing, no one

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:01 (twenty years ago)

USE THE FUCKING SEARCH FUNCTION IF YOU ARE GOING TO OVERPOST CONSTANTLY

Cichael Mostello, Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:02 (twenty years ago)

it's a perfectly fine answer, and I agree, the R&B vocal group Dream should record a rendition of the Pennywise song "Covers". (xp)

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:03 (twenty years ago)

I, you, 4'33", John Cage

jmeister (jmeister), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:03 (twenty years ago)

Journey, Sweet Yesterday, Moodymann

Adam In Real Life (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:03 (twenty years ago)

I hate the search thing. If i post something on it, it's going to say "(1 new, 400,000 total)" and who the hell is going to look at that?

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:04 (twenty years ago)

Yeah, why should you act like you actually give a shit what other people think? It's not like you post here to actually ya know engage with anyone.

Alex in SF (Alex in SF), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:07 (twenty years ago)

I really don't think one can be blamed for starting redundant threads about a fairly abstract concept like "dream covers" or "I Think _____ Should Cover _____ by _____", there's a dozen different ways to describe that idea and it would be hard to search for every single one just to make sure such a thread hadn't been done before. plus it's the kind of thing that could always generate creative new answers, so it seems kind of pointlessly mean to try and stomp out every new thread about it.

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:07 (twenty years ago)

You didn't even answer this one yourself!

xpost

Aja (aja), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:07 (twenty years ago)

the search thing hates you (and is not alone)

Micheal Costello, Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:08 (twenty years ago)

HA! you posted my name.

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:09 (twenty years ago)

I don't know who Michael Costello is but it seems like people have some kind of grudge against him entirely apart from starting this thread!

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:10 (twenty years ago)

They don't like me because I post my band on here a lot.

I feel like starting a thread called "Enough Of Me Talking -- What Do YOU Think Of Me?"

-- Naive Teen Idol (matthew.weine...), July 20th, 2005.

Yeah, why should you act like you actually give a shit what other people think? It's not like you post here to actually ya know engage with anyone.

Kidz Bop: "Float On"

etc.

The Mars Volta, The Lights Go Down on Broadway, Genesis.

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:21 (twenty years ago)

funny, when I looked for "dream covers" in the search, it turned up one answer. granted, I knew the title of the thread I was looking for, but maybe looking things up under titles instead of general will narrow the search. it tends to when I've used it in that manner.

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:32 (twenty years ago)

-- Matos-Webster Dictionary (michaelangelomato...), July 20th, 2005.

my point was that maybe the phrase "dream covers" didn't occur to him, or the original thread could've been called "covers you'd like to hear" or something like that. unless he, say, went through every single thread with "cover" in the title, I'd think it would be pretty hard to cover all the bases here. even if he was feeling lazy and cluttered up the fragile balance of ILM with it's first useless redundant thread EVER because of it, I'd let it slide.

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:41 (twenty years ago)

the point is that it's not his first.

strng hlkngtn, Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:43 (twenty years ago)

FIN.

strng hlkngtn, Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:43 (twenty years ago)

amazing how attempting to point out something that had already been discussed under this topic somehow equates to shutting out further discussion of it.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:43 (twenty years ago)

or is it today Disingenuous Day on ILM? (coughshockercough)

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:45 (twenty years ago)

yeah sorry, maybe i'm way off base. again, i don't know Michael Costello's history! maybe he's a troll that i've just never noticed before.

(xp I'm not trying to be disingenuous, i'm playing devil's advocate because I don't think this is the kind of thread that it's easy to make sure hasn't been done before. sheesh.)

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:47 (twenty years ago)

It's very easy. to wit:

Find threads from I Love Music, subject contains 'covers', from category Alternate Universe.
1 result found:

Covers That Should Happen but Haven't (28 matching messages)
Yo La Tengo - "You Can Cry if You Want To" (The Troggs)
-- I.M. (soundslike198...), April 29th, 2005.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:47 (twenty years ago)

ok. i hadn't actually tried searching. sorry. you win.

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:48 (twenty years ago)

YOU'RE AS BAD AS COSTELLOHITLER

strng hlkngtn, Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:50 (twenty years ago)

Posting Duplicate Threads, Killing Millions of Jews and Gypsies, Yeh I can see how that levels out.

Michael Costello (MichaelCostello1), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:52 (twenty years ago)

(Al, I wasn't even talking to you in the first place!)

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:57 (twenty years ago)

ah, i dunno, it seemed like your 2nd post was a response to what I was saying.

Al (sitcom), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 22:59 (twenty years ago)

nope.

Matos-Webster Dictionary (M Matos), Wednesday, 20 July 2005 23:00 (twenty years ago)
