You may have found this already, but scroll to the bottom of this thread:

This is the NEW (third) thread for requesting and offering songs via YSI/Gmail/Etc.

I expected Depeche Mode leaks, dammit >:(

Curt1s St3ph3ns, Friday, 22 July 2005 00:44 (twenty years ago)

i came here for depeche mode as well, and i found it on the YSI thread, happily; matt2 understood.

was anyone honestly confused, or are we just being cranky.

derrick (derrick), Friday, 22 July 2005 04:14 (twenty years ago)

I was confused. I was thinking maybe Danger Mouse.

Lingbertt, Friday, 22 July 2005 05:11 (twenty years ago)

i couldn't see how anyone who knew the information would have been confused by the post, and those who didn't know what i was asking should have kept their comments to theirselves.

thanks matt2 for directing me to that.

ehbenoit, Friday, 22 July 2005 11:33 (twenty years ago)

Sorry, I was only teasing. I figured Depeche Mode, but people should be a bit more specific on ILM as it's not very nice for noobs/the uninitiated. The other problem is things like BOC = Boards of Canda OR Blue Oyster Cult.

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 22 July 2005 11:38 (twenty years ago)

dog latin, i wasn't referring to you really... your leeks actually gave me a giggle for some reason.

sorry, for some of us more insane depeche fans that is how they can tend to be referred to them. it does get me chastised by others but, it is sort of instinctive at this point. DM. They tend to use those letters alone on shirts, etc... which is probably why it is so natural for me and others to refer to them as such. i suppose it is a bad habit.

plus i thought everyone would have known about the situation by the time i posted the question anyway...

ehbenoit, Friday, 22 July 2005 12:36 (twenty years ago)

Man, I miss DM boots - time they came back.

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 22 July 2005 12:58 (twenty years ago)

i couldn't see how anyone who knew the information would have been confused by the post, and those who didn't know what i was asking should have kept their comments to theirselves.

Stop being stupid. I know who Depeche Mode are but I legitimately didn't assume that "DM" referred to them, and it was a very vague post for those who aren't in the cult of Depeche Mode t-shirtery.

deej.., Friday, 22 July 2005 13:40 (twenty years ago)

i wasn't being stupid... i was over assuming... i stated in a later post anyway why i posted in that manner. i did not realize when i was posting that it was so vague and gave my reason why.

i still attest however, those who knew what i was talking about would have responded as matt2 did and those that did not should have just ignored it, as i usually ignore the posts that are vague myself.

furthermore their use of the DM initials is not exclusive to t-shirts...

(dog latin, i got the DM part of Doc Martens a bit after the fact which was a bit sad... it has been a long time since i had a pair. the last pair i broke in were at the new order/pil/sugarcubes show in mansfield, ma... long times past. my friends dragged me out of the show ankles bleeding... you would have thought i would have learned from previous pairs.)

ehbenoit, Friday, 22 July 2005 14:01 (twenty years ago)

I am seriously thinking of buying a pair. Back in the day I remember feeling like they were one of the specialist things in the world - and they are they're really cool! So yeh, I'm buying a pair next time I get a chance. The revival starts here!

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 22 July 2005 15:19 (twenty years ago)

DM on a music board that Dan and I are on = Depeche Mode. (This is perhaps a broad assumption.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 22 July 2005 15:25 (twenty years ago)

I immediately thought of Danger Mouse, too.

On another note:

Austin Still (Austin, Still), Friday, 22 July 2005 15:29 (twenty years ago)

yeah it's a public board so if you make a post that's for in-the-know people only you can expect for many people to say whatever the fuck they want, not ignore your precious in-the-know thread out of respect for its leetness

Banana Nutrament (ghostface), Friday, 22 July 2005 16:24 (twenty years ago)

As a long time Depeche-head, I assumed that that's what the "DM" in the thread title stood for. And that new single is great: classic Depeche-ery!

Tantrum The Cat (Tantrum The Cat), Friday, 22 July 2005 16:36 (twenty years ago)

hey banana, i was not being precious and in-the-know so calm down.

...and of course you can say whatever the fuck you want. but, do you need to if the post does not interest you or you weren't aware of what it was about, that is the question. if you are genuinely concerned about what the person was asking for or just commenting to make an example out of someone i suppose dictates the answer to that query.

and yes Dog Latin, DM revival now... the good quality old ones that would last you forever and a day.

p.s. thanks ned for letting me know i am not the only one that thinks that DM equals depeche mode... i really wasn't trying to be elitist or in-the-know, i just wanted the damn song!

ehbenoit, Friday, 22 July 2005 16:49 (twenty years ago)

tantrum, and thank you too... and yes, that new single i do think is quite fantastic and i think it is only going to grow on me more with time. i already have it stuck in my head. classic depeche-ery for sure. martin is still the greatest thing to ever grace a harness and a skirt. :)

ehebnoit, Friday, 22 July 2005 16:52 (twenty years ago)

poor ehebnoit - I feel bad about starting a minor flamewar here, so sorry.

dog latin (dog latin), Friday, 22 July 2005 16:59 (twenty years ago)

don't feel bad for me... i'm just happy i have the track... nothing can touch me when i am in the depeche zone... as jerri blank would say...

"i'm as moist as a snack cake"

ehbenoit, Friday, 22 July 2005 17:09 (twenty years ago)

I assumed it was Depeche Mode, too. I am very psyched about the idea of new DM (haven't heard it yet).

The Ghost of Dan Perry (Dan Perry), Friday, 22 July 2005 17:14 (twenty years ago)

It's DEAD MILKMEN, people!

Michael Burble, Friday, 22 July 2005 17:42 (twenty years ago)

back on track, though, the single is GREAT. a bit directionless, i think, and not a terribly interesting chorus, but an incredible SOUND. it's akin to violator, until the guitar bit around the 2.20 mark which makes the song for me. dave sounds fantastic, too.

derrick (derrick), Friday, 22 July 2005 18:43 (twenty years ago)

directionless and a bad chorus too? when do i get to hear it?

dan (dan), Friday, 22 July 2005 19:57 (twenty years ago)

hush. i speak comparatively, of course. depeche have set a high standard, and if they fall slightly shy, that's still far ahead of many other bands.
