Obviously there are many more dj's i could rant about (Jamie Theakston, Chris Moyles) but they're far too obvious.
So who do you love to hate?

Now Charlie was probably talking about radio-DJ's, which immediatly makes this a UK-only thread :(

The EU runs a scheme for farmers for surplus food production.
Lammo runs a scheme(airplay) for surplus - not necessary dull bands, an over production outlet for surplus generic crap . Lammo's airplay gaurantees an income to these bands by taking money out of the pockets of 14-18 year old, because Lammo ignores more creative music - these youngsters are duped into buying inferior goods, systems theory - Garbage in - Garbage Out, what you put into a system will determine what comes out of a system.
The generic guitar twaddle he supports ! he is tone deaf, I remember Lammo in his MM column mentioning the Carter/ Neds - were great bands - when you set your sights this low - no wonder he has not got a clue.
Some of the music Lammo supports, just plods along in its generic dull nature. I tune in now and again - and it is always crap ! I caught that last twenty minutes on Monday night ! ghastly!
Yes without doubt Lammo is a dud.

I think the majority of radio 1 djs are loathsome... peel is the only bearable one in a kind of kindly absent-minded uncle way.

Erm, most radio DJs sound like twats to me, basically. I didn't like most of the music Andy Kershaw played, and fucking hell he sounded reactionary fogeyish on his last R1 show (though never before that, and he controlled himself when you consider the shit he took from that master of Birtspeak known as Parfitt), but at least he was a likeable person who you felt you could have a conversation with and actually be talking on the same level. Westwood's a great example of creating an entirely fictional persona for oneself, and on that level he's very important and successful.
But if I had to single out one particular DJ for contempt, it would obviously be Chris Moyles.

"Hey! is it just me, or was mark radcliffe's evening show pretty good & genuinely eclectic?"
Yes. And how.
"What happened there?"
He went daytime, turned himself into a professional northerner and started playing up his "character" for the daytime audience, and Radio 1 dumbed itself down for its new best friends, its beloved ultra-hedonistic 15-24-year-olds. The old Radcliffe show would be far too clever for them now, I'm afraid.

As for Radio 1 DJs music-and-talkwise, Trevor Nelson is probably my favourite: entertaining, thoughtful, nice voice, flow, plus great upfront R&B & hip hop. Dreem Teem and Westwood are great, too.

On the other hand, Garth Trinidad on Chocolate City sounds really nice, though I don't know enough and haven't listened enough to say anything about the music. Eric J. Lawrence's show Dragnet is good for the music, though he seems overly fond of novelty tunes - some of which are really funny - like this song about McDonald's.

Paul Van Dyk and Oakenfold who's rumored $10k sets were annointed with trainwreck after trainwreck. Was it the coke or the champagne?
Grooverider on the nights when he was phoning it in but those other nights, the man could really do the job. Goldie, same story but his batting average was way way worse.
DJ Peretz, has he spun anywhere besides Coachella? Speaking of which Madonna in the DJ Tent... whew.
